Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Terrible sleep but I didn't feel too bad when the alarm went off.
2) Park Run this morning and everyone was very jolly. Someone had brought a hula hoop so we all had a go with that.
3) Went to M and S for tea and Arabic.
4) Did a bit of tidying up.
5) Had a mango and a very overripe banana plus some Greek yoghurt with honey so that many some very good smoothie.
6) Will watch Casualty just now.
7) It is cooler than 29 degrees!8 -
For yesterday,
Bit of a lie-in followed by bacon butties for breakfast.
Over to the stables, my lovely girl was a bit itchy with bites so forgo work and instead gave her a nice cool wash with tea tree shampoo, hopefully that will help. Chatted to my friend who is also a cricket fan and I was just leaving the yard to come home when she shouted that Broad had bowled Warner.
Youngest DSS and lovely gf arrived mid afternoon, small dog so happy she did zoomies around garden!
Warm evening so decided to have the treat of a Chinese takeaway.
Lovely afternoon and evening, catching up on news and playing board games, lots of laughter and general silliness.

Hi everyone.
We are back from our little jaunt, haven't had time to read all your pleasures in detail yet but skimmed through and very glad, Happycas, to hear that hubby is progressing well.
Recent pleasures:
1) Met up in good time with brothers and their wives on Wednesday despite motorway closures and road works.
2) Three days of glorious weather so we had breakfast outside and drinks outside after dinner and generally felt like we were abroad.
3) Lots (too much probably) of very good food and wine but lots of walking too meant that I stayed the same on the scales - this is a big pleasure as 'the wedding' is in three weeks' time.
4) So lucky that we all get on so well, mum and dad would be thrilled that we make time to get together so often.
5) Thunder and lightning and heavy rain in the early hours have made a massive difference to the garden and the air feels much fresher.
A lazy Sunday is on the cards for us, a bit of pottering, easy meals, not much else - think I'm still in holiday mode!
Enjoy your day.7 -
Good afternoon. Enough rain yesterday evening to wash some dust off the car and now sunny again.
Oh Ampersand! You tempted me! I've now bought the first Martin Walker/ Bruno book for my kindle. I love finding a new author.
Highdays - sounds like a lovely relaxing break. And thank you for your kind thoughts.
DS came to visit yesterday and DD today. I know it's for Father's Day really, but I joined in too. It's lovely to see them both and am pleased they could both see said father is getting better!
Added DD to our car insurance. Only cost £20 plus £15 admin. Ooh, she says. I'm cheap, aren't I!
More pootling about here but it's very nice to have not much to do and all day to do it in! And sunshine too.
Happy Father's Day everyone

Pffft! I’ve actually just watered the plants as I’m not sure about said rain! Currently not looking remotely like rain but I’ll be happy to be wrong! But as a just incase I went and watered everything.Well my day off work did not go as planned however we got there in the end!Beach! For 6am. Just us and a far out tide. It was lovely. Though did have a few raindrops but nothing of note.Home and was just using my new hoover ( oooh the excitement) when DD2 called. The chap was unwell again and they were told to head to A&E so could I just have a puppy…6 hours later he was picked up. Like my great niece and nephew…lovely to see but lovely to say goodbye to!My dogs a grumper and pup was getting a bit too bold at times (and at other times was very sweet) so there was much… be nice, behave, be nice, eh eh eh…nooooo and we all had two, half hour snoozes! And I probably should have finished my hoovering but I’ll do it tomorrow 😆 just sat and finished my book instead.Salad for lunch and sausages and little potatoes done in the airfryer for tea.8

1. Happycas, so very Oui! and you'll quickly pick MW's great sense of having found his own alter-terroir there, next door to the Lot, which is &'s 11 years of francophile other, with my beloved Var for almost 50! Good grief, yes, that long. MW's own remarkable global career is telling enough.
2. LFS, had been thinking about your posts and life from way back when and the next day, here you were! Therefore, please excuse this delayed osp, held off since last week. I've been picking and eating raspberries, supposedly autumn chaps, half-dozens in my hand daily, as I pass them. They've been there years. This morning, I added+nibbled first salad leaves.
3. This morning's MP, strong politically. & in favour.
4. Last night's last-ever G&S in The Barn, which has to come down after 30 years of these productions. A sad, sad loss to local rural Arts, but it was made the most of, with suitable relevant script changes, as always, loved and laughed with, interrupted and brought to a standstill several times. And so we had 'The Sorcerer', new to &, sharp, zippy, witty and super-strong musically. A remarkable slight young lass was an amazing percussionist on 15 pieces of tympany, from tiny to huge. It had its own truck transport! She was asked if she could step in only 5 weeks ago - so, she did, also on viola, violin, piano and flute, perfectly playing the latter for a character who had to do so on stage - in real life, senior curator of old books and manuscripts at Uni of Gown. Congratulated her at once afterwards, she very modest, and guessed she would know X, who heads the Graduate Orchestra and is another integral young Alma rugby friend - and archaeologist. Yes indeed, 2 lovely clever young women.
5. Not yet back from further Fens and widowed friend. The garden seat slats replacement project is begun, interrupted by storm and another newly baked coffee+walnut cake.....and halted. Hacksaw, croppers, pliers, et al will NOT remove most of the implacably stuck screws and bolts. So, back to TP's lovely gents demain. They'll have high-powered metal cutters and & has loaded the skeleton into obliging doblo.

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Tidied up downstairs, hoovered then cleaned the bathroom.
3) My parents came round for a cup of tea for father's day. Bigger son also appeared on his bike, timing it just right!
4) Downhill neighbour came round to ask me to look after his cats for a week while he is on holiday. We talked about the septic tank needing emptying (not in either of our gardens) and he has spent ages this afternoon strimming a path down to it.
5) Went to carpet town for a glass of orange and Arabic in M and S then Sainsburys.
6) Am having a rest from the iron tablets for a bit. I've been on a huge dose for about 10 weeks so thought I'd have a break from being bloated and uncomfortable then resume on a more sensible dose.
7) Went for a walk with my brother and his dog and we counted 14 orchids!
8) Made chicken souvlaki for tea, which smaller son liked. Trifle for pudding.

the weekend went far too quickly.
1) Friday night out for a drink but the heat of the week caught up with me - an early night and slept till 9:44!!!
2) brunch with friends - we stayed chatting a long time
3) then the annual bbq in our communal garden - had a lovely time and came away with a tub of fried onions - added stock, thyme and Worcestershire sauce, whizz and served with grated cheese today - very yummy - also brought back a few cooked items that would otherwise have been destined for the bin
4) and for today lovely service
5) after lunch gbf, dd2 and i went to view friend's garden as part of open gardens - met two of my ex's previous bossesMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
