goodness happycas get better soon mr happycas
thank you kindly bop for your words - this hatter is stil grinning like the cheshire cat
A quick 5 cos I need another early night (3rd in a row, pub night tomorrow)
1) the day started with giving blood for research - the phd student from last time is now a post doc though strictly speaking he needs to do his corrections first but thrilled he's got his 1st post doc (same lab)
2) 2 hour meeting with my team in the Paterson Centre in the Botanics, and of course the weather was glorious
3) 3 of us stayed on for lunch - we sat outside - then i went inside to have my next meeting (had taken my headphones) - when i went to pay for my pot of tea found my colleague had already paid - sweetie
4) walking home a neighbour had a mobile bike repairs man - i asked if he was open for business - yes so wheeled my bike down and it now has a new inner tube
5) walked the boys to meet DD2 walking back from the station and we had a lovely chat - apparently DS is coming up sometime in JuneMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hello.
Oh my goodness, Happycas, how very scary for both of you but it sounds as if your hubby is on the mend and, in the meantime, has been in the best place. Hope this is the end of your health traumas for a while.
Today's pleasures:
1) We finally got out after hubby had finished faffing on with the blummin car - thanks for coming home an hour and a half after we were supposed to go and for not hearing my phone calls ... and the car's still not sorted. Grr! The pleasure was, in spite of my stropping, he insisted we go (late) so the whole day wasn't wasted and I stopped sulking on the journey so we had a decent afternoon at least. Don't think he'll do that again....!
2 Totally delicious late lunch - blew the diet but it was worth every calorie. And we got our fiver off!
3) Cloudy and chilly til about half past three and then the sun came out and it was a lovely late afternoon.
4) Some nice ideas for my shady border and raised beds if we ever get the garden sorted. A new fern was purchased to help things along.
5) Too full from lunch for a proper tea so a late bacon sarnie with a cuppa fitted the bill perfectly.
Right, off to bed with my book which is shaping up very nicely.
Goodnight all.6 -
Goodness me HappyCas what a worry but good that DH was seen & sorted so quickly, glad that Armand provided comfort though, am currently on the 5th book and thoroughly enjoying.
Ahoy there Admiral
For yesterday,
Two phone calls made and tasks ticked off lists.
With my pony, she is still a little ‘footy’ on hard ground so some groundwork done on the soft surface of arena then helped my pal with her horse.Home and was meant to be meeting my brother for a late lunch but walked into the dining room to see water dripping out of the light fitting so emergency plumber called instead!
Plumber was quick and got the problem sorted, brother popped round anyway and we had cheese rolls whilst the plumber did his thing.
Capt S came home with flowers, a rare gesture but all the more heartfelt, his reason was that I’ve had a rough few weeks bless him.7 -
It was only a couple of days away, but we both have a bit of holiday come down today.
Ampersand, you dropped by with a lovely gift one year of an Angelica plant, I thought you might want to see what it's grown into as it is attracting so much wildlife to it now.
1 Today's food is camping leftovers of gammon, new pots veg and the obligatory egg and pineapple topping, with leftover pineapple as dessert.
2 5.50 in coupons expiring today meant we had to pop into Mr T for bread, milk, and yoghurt.
3 Washing loads in from the line and new loads out.
4 Some shallots were growing on their own, so I’ve popped them in a tub, to see what if anything they do.
5 I’m not greatly chuffed by the literal hundred starlings in the garden, what a rabble, however they are apparently getting rarer, so I can’t complain. And the woodpecker is still getting food.

Up since very early with a doggy who’s not very well in a very nonspecific kind of way. Was concerned enough to take him to vets where he had a thorough check up. On probiotics and chicken and rice diet for a few days. He was exhibiting the similar symptoms he had before he was very ill last summer and I didn’t want it to get to that stage.Anyway he’s not right but I don’t know what’s wrong. See what tomorrow brings.Didn’t go the beach but did go a wander up the road at 4.30am! Was blessedly cool.
Friend popped round this afternoon. I was already in the garden so we sat out and had a catch up! All got rather hot so I went in for a while after she left.
Ate my tea outside . Finished one book and started another.7 -
That's amazing, pk - thankyou. Will you crystallise some for this year's Christmas cake?
1. The amazing pink+apricot double marguerite from nice lady's ever-cheap plants. Have spent 3whole£s today on 6 decorative gourds, a dark lily and Fresno peppers. Money posted through door as usual.
2. Freezing cold again and glooming grey meant emporium hot drink felt extra good.
Showed this curious pricing anomaly to R in emporium too. Guess which one & bought?
3. Enjoyed remaining casserole as brunch, plus salad-y allsorts.
4. Booking end of August tkts for full-size Spookymen's Chorale concerts.
5. Gæl Montfils won through in 5 sets at the French Open, as did Cameron Norrie v Benoît Paire, then in 3 sets v Lucas Pouille, which should have been much tougher. He also overcame a ludicrous umpiring call.
& longs for Alcaraz(as Rafa's likely heir nowadays) to ultimately dispose of vile Djokovic, if he's still there after today. All via R5X for &. Ooh, he's just netted and was 3 breakpoints down in his previous game.....now gone long with his backhand, so 40-0 down. There is hope.

loving the pictures of plants
1) after a morning of external exam board convening (online so did at home) another away-day meeting at the Botanics, this time senior exec group - lunch provided yum yum
2) then walked the boys up Balgay - cold in Dundee today but always fun to walk the boys
3) rest of the asparagus risotto for supper
4) then the pub for the footie - Dr M and Mr G had gone for a walk up Pitlochry way where the weather was glorious, not that I'm jealous
5) walked home with Dr M - he was charming as everMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

For yesterday,
Trying not to get that ggrrr about all the roadworks in village, tried to go one way, nope road closed, another way? that will be traffic lights and queues then, appreciate them dealing with potholes etc but all at once, methinks need plenty planning!
Then another road closed on way to yard, kept myself happy singing along to Ella F in the car.
Worked girlie in-hand again, she showed no sign of lameness but think the splint popping has knocked her confidence as she seemed to be continually seeking assurance from me, everything will be taken at her indicated pace.
Chilly, chilly, was layered up and still cold as no sign of the sun of all day. Heating popped on for an hour.
Watched an interesting programme about real life forensic work and hunting down jewellery thieves.

Inflation hits costa "Currently after every 8 beans you collect, you get a free drink in store. From 1st August you’ll need to collect 10 beans to get a free one." though (and many thanks for whoever on this thread alerted me) you still get an extra bean each time you use your reusable cup. And now of course i want a coffee! (currently at home so even more mse)

Planned on heading out later to a local garden centre as we’d got a BOGOF for a 40 litre bag of compost (which is needed to top up our potato sacks) and an email popped up from said garden centre offering two free slices of cake as it’s my birthday this month.
Double 😀7
