5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Hi.
Another gorgeous day here. Makes a change for a Bank Holiday weekend to be so good, doesn't it?
DFV - you will be in my thoughts in the run up to the anniversary. Can give you no words of comfort, you've been there just too many times and this will be a biggie but it might just help a little bit to know that people care and are willing you through.
Today's pleasures:
1) Sat in the garden and finished my current book - Breaking & Mending by Joanna Cannon, her experiences as a junior doctor. Very thought provoking. Her novels are good too if you haven't read them.
2) The pashmina I ordered for 'the' wedding arrived in the post. Cost more than 'the' dress but is just right, great colour match and it is so soft and fine it will make a great scarf too without being too bulky. Lovely, and I will get a lot of use out of it.
3) Went to the supermarket to get oldest grandson's film night pizza and chocolate - a once a week treat and not things that I dare keep in the house so have to be bought on the day. Saw and bought a big birthday cake for my bairn, much cheaper and more elaborate than I could do so why would I even try?! Also found a lovely olive tree, literally a quarter of the price I'd seen a similar one for at the posh garden centre - love a bargain and it's a beauty.
4) All that walking last week paid off with a 4lb loss on the scales this morning - phew! Can put the ultra-strict BSD on hold for the moment but will keep up the walking just to be on the safe side.
5) Will have a morning to myself tomorrow as hubby has loaded up the car to do a car boot sale. Good he really enjoys doing them (and doesn't even mind the 4am start - crazy!!) as hopefully he will get rid of a load of unwanted stuff and I'll be able to get into the workshop and start clearing and tidying. Hoping to make a space for me to do my mosaics again, not been able to even get in while all this stuff, mainly from clearing out my mum's house, has been piled in there.
Hope you are enjoying the long weekend, think the forecast is set fair. PLEASE wear sunscreen, saw some ridiculous burnt bodies today - why???

Pleasures for lady few days
1. Glorious sunshine
2. Doggy seems to be finally clear of her guests which has resulted in 3.
3. House smoke bombed and vacuumed from top to bottom, bedding washed and re washed. So house is lovely and clean.
4. Knowing I can now go away for few days
5. ds2 been in a better frame of mind.
6. Weight loss due to not stopping for last few days- on annual leave so was meant to be slowing down
7. lovely doggy walks - alone.
8. Ds2 & I invited to friends for a lovely meal, she made a fabulous curry - most tastiest sauce ever.
9. Puncture on car repaired so safe to travel
10. Now in bed ready to sleep.
DFV - will be thinking of you and your family8 -
hello all, currently in Doha lounge, long wait for next flight
1) fabulous conference, met alumni, current and prospective students, a good chat with someone i want to work with and invited to be on a symposium panel at the same conference next year (back to its usual January but going to Sri Lanka)
2) my misspent youth of eating chips from the Chinese with chopsticks was worth it - chop stick skills still there
3) we negotiated finding restaurants and using grab (uber equivalent) without mishap
4) good flight to Doha - managed to sleep though was still awake at Luton Coventry ko (coincidntally enough just as Bowie stepped on stage at Wembley in the film i was watching)
5) landed at Doha and the texts and messages started pouring in - we've only gone and done it! First time in the Premiership. Dr M and Mr G watching in Mennies, so a rather surreal way to follow a massive football match.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Will be thinking of you and your family DFV x
For yesterday,
A decent sleep, had a lie-in too followed by coffee & warm croissants.
At the yard, decided to give girlie’s tail a wash, it’s very thick so takes ages but looks stunning when clean so worth the hassle. Then did some more running plait practice as she dozed in her stable, she can be such a patient mare. Chatted to fellow owners and caught up on news.
Capt S had cleaned out the water feature so walked through the garden gate to the sound of running water, sat outside to eat lunch and watched lots of birds come down to have a bath.
Lovely afternoon walk, we went around the fields and the crop is a decent height already, think it’s barley this year.
We were supposed to be going out for a meal but one half of the couple was poorly so quickly ordered a Chinese instead, caught the ET and penalties in the Luton match and thought of DD when the Coventry lad missed his.6 -
Good morning. A little hazy today but still good.
DfV - love the tales of your forest growing. Sending much love to try to ease the next few painful days x
Highdays - will look for the Joanna Cannon book. I've enjoyed her novels.
BoP - hope all is well. Another one here missing our in-house pirate.
Spent some time on the finances yesterday. We can manage the travel insurance this year ( if we don't eat every other week😂) but think that might be it then for foreign travel. But never mind. There's lots of places in the UK we've never seen and lots we'd like to return to.
Finished the Elly Griffiths book. Definitely had a ' Last in Series' feel but very enjoyable too. Think I've missed a couple out though so will check for what I've missed.
Mary Stewart books on special offer on kindle today. I read them all as a teenager and am very tempted to buy but not sure if I'll still like them. Don't want to spoil a memory. Might try a sample and see how I feel.
Going to wash the throws from the bed today. Expect frost tomorrow😂
Happy Sunday everyone

Good morning everyone 😊
A week of eating and appointments! Hygienest and dentist (both ok) OH to hospital and signed off after his ankle operation, now back to work part time. Lunch out, Monday and Wednesday and Chinese takeaway with besties on Tuesday. On Friday my sister and I went up to London to meet friends from college whom we first met 50 years ago in September! One I had not seen since 1982 and my sister had not seen any of them for years! We had a great lunch reminiscing about college and trips away to Cornwall (me) and Greece (sis) and generally catching up, much laughter. We might not see one of them again (she lives in Australia and was back for a family wedding) but hopefully might get together again with the others on a trip to Wales as Ann lives there and has a large caravan on the coast . I did visit her last year with Deb, having not seen her for nearly 40 years. Where does time go?
lovely sunny day yesterday and I spent a while in the garden. Jobs and cooking to do today as I have OHs mum and friend coming for dinner tomorrow. I also need to sort out holiday clothes as we are off on our main holiday to Lesvos on Thursday. My bedroom currently looks like a jumble sale as I have emptied out 5 vac bags of various size summer clothes to be tried on ☹️ I seem to have developed an annoying cough 🤞 it’s not anything nasty.
Enjoy your long weekend 😊☀️7 -

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep. though woken intermittently by cockchafers! Had a sort of date last night that will go down in history for absolutely everything going wrong, including getting covered in bird droppings...
2) Got various jobs done around the house including a load of washing, finally mending the printer and preparing tomorrow's English lesson.
3) Went to M and S cafe to do some Arabic and to organise a trip I am making with someone on Tuesday.
4) Caught up on the television I missed yesterday.
5) Smaller son wanted to go to Tesco, so we did.8 -
1) safely home 3:30pm, unpacked, had a soak in the bath during which i finished my book (Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine - very good), put on my washing then
2) joined Mr G and Dr M for the 2nd half of the premiership games - we had Leicester on one set, Everton on the 2nd and Leeds on the 3rd. turns out Luton will not be playing the foxes after all
3) met a student whose shopping i had helped carry - was nice to bump into her again and we walked back together
4) then took the boys for a long walk to the nature reserve with DD2 - we met another spaniel who DD2 sometimes looks after
5) home for a fridge raid supper and now I'm off to bed.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hello.
Not such a nice day here - cloudy and overcast with a very cool breeze. Bit different to the last couple of days, brrr!!
Today's pleasures:
1) Felt more like doing jobs because the sun wasn't shining. Hubby was off crack of dawn - at least so he says, I wasn't awake at the time! So a morning to myself to potter about doing 'stuff'. Lots of list making and mental sorting, a busy time coming up so need to get organised. Now feeling a bit more in control.
2) Actually did a bit of cleaning for a change. Not a lot but it's a start, doesn't do to overdo these things! Earned an afternoon of feet up and a new book to get into.
3) Made grandson his favourite lemon drizzle cake. Haven't done any baking for a while due to the diet and, as hubby (chief bowl scraper outer) was out, I got to scrape out the bowl. Yum!
4) Tried a couple of new recipes - diet cola chicken and an orange mousse. Both very scrummy.
5) Chatted to my brothers for a bit on WhatsApp, we all have the same sense of humour so had a good laugh and they recommended a series on telly we hadn't known about so watched a couple of episodes this evening and it's very good.
And another Bank Holiday tomorrow. Shouldn't make any difference to us but weekends and holidays do still feel different.
Have a good one!
