Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Invigilation went OK but it was the longest exam. Getting on for 3 hours.
3) Went to floody city and had lunch in the Columbian cafe.
4) Got lost walking back to the car (well, not lost but an area has been redeveloped so I went down the wrong footpath). All the railway arches are being glazed and made into units. It looked pretty good.
5) Had falafel, hummus and salad for tea.
6) Had an evening out.

5. Reading mse and thinking again what a remarkable thing Martin has created here.
1) rudely awoken by the alarm at 7:30am - goodness I slept well! 8am breakfast at Starbucks - almond croissant and a large latte before going back to hotel for a whole day (yes seriously!)
2) spent all morning with the boss getting the ppt finalised - ppt will now embed menti but you have to type the whole darn lot in again - the good news we finished in time (just so the bad news was no lunch break)
3) mse wins again - I still had my sarnie from the last meal from the last leg of the journey and i had thoughtfully put it in the fridge on my arrival
4) workshop went very well - 4 hours and with my usual impeccable timing gave them 20 minutes tea break and we finished with 5 minutes to spare.
5) had our fortnightly management meeting (they're still online) which was a surprise to my programme director. then we went off for a scrummy dinner and just back. my turn to buy the wine, which is very expensive in Singapore, work pays for the travel, accommodation and food so not complaining.
And now set my alarm, a cup of tea, Tuesday's Archers, a bit more book and zzzzzzzMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hello
Need to catch up on last three days.
Monday was a worky day. Busy. Glad it was over.Tuesday.Was up at silly o’clock for work. Very, very early doggy walk and just us and the blackbirds were up. The blackbird on my gable end singing away.Work done by 6.30am and I just went to supermarket then.Home and hello doggy we are in for the day. Pottered around Catching up on things. Did flowers. Hoovered. Laundry etc.Changed bedding
The lesser spotted brother turned up.
Made a chilli for tea which was very nice. Got lovely flowers from my friend.
Wednsday. It’s a year since my mum died. But I’d kind of been going over it all in my head from the Sunday to the Tuesday. Of how things happened then. Actually slept right through ( think the clean bedding helped) but got up, quick shower and then out to the beach with the doggy. Nice drive there and back and a lovely walk but I literally let it all out as soon as we reached the sea. Sobbed and sobbed.Stopped at big supermarket at far end of town and got caffeine free DC and a RTC clematis. Mum liked clematis as do I.Then got a frantic call from the chap who couldn’t remember if he’d switched the iron off so had to go to DD2 work , go to theirs, yes it was off, back to her work and then back home. Sigh! But took the dog with me for company.
Until teatime it was overcast and breezy and cool so just kind of reclined! Then went over to see DD2 for an hour. Then home. I’ve watered the plants. And I’m heading to bed.9 -
Hello, back again.
Oh, mhagster. really feel for you. Anniversaries are just the pits when they mark the loss of someone we love and isn't it just so hard losing your mum? We are slowly inching towards the first anniversary for my mum too (August 2nd), she was a very keen gardener and watching Chelsea - which she loved - is very bittersweet. Big hugs.
Recent pleasures:
1) Some retail therapy yesterday to fill gaps in mine and hubby's summer wardrobes. Some I will keep, some I won't but it's so much easier shopping for him as I know exacty what suits him and there is always a much better selection for men. Grr! Stopped off for a cuppa and a chat, lovely just to have the time to sit together mulling things over.
2) Watching Chelsea and marvelling at the gardens. We went a few years ago but it was so crowded and you couldn't get into the gardens for a good look so actually prefer watching on the box. Very pleased to say that the hostas I bought there are still going strong.
3) Our wedding anniversary today. Our plans have been put on hold as little fella is on holiday so off we went to the local castle with sunscreen and a picnic. A glorious sunny day. just perfect with not a cloud in the sky. Grandson made a pal in the adventure playground and they played really nicely for a long time then sat down and had big chats. So cute! He then gave us a guided tour of the castle and enjoyed jumping out to scare us from various hidey holes. We sat at the banqueting table, he was the king and I was the queen and hubby had to provide the entertainment and bow to us a lot. Hilarious!
4) Now feeling the lovely sort of weary that you get when you have had a day of sunshine and fresh air and your bones are well and truly warmed up. We will sleep well tonight.
5) My biggest pleasure of all today has to be beloved hubby. Will not get all soppy but he picked me up and put me back together again and gave me a second chance at being happy.... and I am.
Not even dark yet, a perfect May evening.

Hugs Mhags & Highdays, when you have a minute look up a poem by Donna Ashworth called A Woman without her Mother, very succinct ❤️For yesterday,
A cool start turned into a warm, sunny day.
Its payday today so yesterday was budget reconciliation day, all done and surplus squirrelled away in savings, have had to increase grocery budget as everything still seems to be going up!
Sloggus domesticus, upstairs done through, bathrooms cleaned and bread made, was nice to sit down.
In the garden, sowed another batch of salad leaves and pottered. The swifts are back, screaming above me as they hunt then flying at what looks like 50 mph towards the small gap in the eaves where they have a nest.
Capt S home with leftovers from company buffet - made me think of DD - we shared a slice of carrot cake for afters.

Good morning . Glorious sunshine again
Lainey - so glad your horse is getting better. Such a relief.
D Doll - so jealous. I loved Singapore, though wasn't there very long. It sounds like hard work though esp 'ppt will embed menti', which must mean something to somebody😂
Highdays - Happy Wedding Anniversary. Wishing you many more of them x
Last day of antibiotics and they've worked. Swelling gone, pain more of a tenderness, panic over. Phew!
So yesterday I made a proper meal after a few days of very little cooking.. Seafood risotto. I'd had some at a restaurant and decided to have a go. It was delicious, if I say so myself!
I also made mushrooms a la grecque to use up some mushrooms. It used to be a favourite of ours ages ago and then I forgot it. That was good too.
Enjoying my new Elly Griffiths book. It's strange. I love the Norfolk ones but can't get on with her Brighton books at all. Very odd!
Think I might do battle with British Gas today. We're in credit, and they want to put up the direct debit!
Happy 🌞day everyone

Hello.
Thank you so much for the anniversary wishes. Sometimes things happen in life that are totally unexpected. Marrying hubby was like a present you didn't know you wanted but when you opened it it was just exactly what you needed. Awww! Enough or it might go to his head
Lainey - hadn't read that poem before so thank you for the recommendation, it says so much of what I feel and, somehow, it really helps when you know other people understand. Your very kind words to me when I lost my mum helped me more that anything anybody else said or did and I am so grateful. I needed to know that I wouldn't suddenly 'get better' and that it would take a long time to come to terms with, if ever. This first year though is very, very strange - 'the feeling of abandonment is huge'.
On to some pleasures for today:
1) A lovely morning though it clouded over a bit later this afternoon. Got a bit pink yesterday so selfishly that was no bad thing.
2) Little fella has caught the sun. Well protected yesterday with sunscreen so he has just gone the most gorgeous peachy colour and the freckles across his cheeks and nose have come out. Took him to the adventure playground at the garden centre for an hour this afternoon and it was lovely to see all the little children happily playing. Bit of a sad moment when he jumped on a swing and didn't need pushing, hubby has taught him well but that's the end now of all the years we spent pushing children and grandchildren on swings. The bittersweet pleasure is he is becoming sturdily more independent just as he should, can't keep him a baby just because he actually is our baby!!!
3) Tried on some of the new clothes - this was not a pleasure - and decided I need to get tough on the diet for the next few weeks. May have to join Frith on the BSD, shifted loads on that last year but it's tough. Can I face it?! Actually, this isn't much of a pleasure at the moment but could be in the future!
4) Manic late afternoon. Whizzing about all over the place but finally everyone who was at school/college is collected and everyone is where they need to be. Little and middle grandson at their mum's, big grandson on a train with his pals to go to the match at Old Trafford, son and partner and partner's daughter in Leeds to see Ricky Gervais tonight so we are now home alone. Phew! Only big grandson is due back tonight - in the early hours - so we will wait up for him and make sure he is back safe and sound. A nap on the sofa may be in order this evening!
5) How totally lucky am I? The people I have in my life give me limitless pleasure (most of the time!), sometimes I just wish time could stop, it just goes too quickly. Maybe this is a sign of growing old?!
Right, I'm off before I get even more maudlin!
Hope you enjoy your evening.

Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Invigilated an exam first thing.
3) Had a sandwich at a local museum.
4) Took smaller son to Sainsburys during the afternoon.
5) We had a swarm of bees in our chimney yesterday but they have flown away now.
6) My brother popped in to talk about all the punctures he had whilst cycling with bigger son yesterday.9 -
Quiet day. It’s been a lovely day. First warm day in about 10 days.
Started a new book out in the garden .Welcomed my new furry grandbaby! A wee black lab pup. Uncle H was okay. He’s not a fan of other doggy’s but was okay. And of course as a granny I’m biased but he’s just gorgeous!8
