pulled a few weeds from the raised bed ,my poor gardener has broken her foot .I will keep it going ,but will be a wild garden this year .
nice morning coffee and chat with friends at local garden centre

For yesterday,
A very welcome lie-in after a week of meh sleep.
Breakfast then over to see the horse, stood her in the sunshine and pampered while she had a doze, she is out at night for around 16 hours now so is very sleepy during the day. Hosed her leg and the lump does seem to be going down nicely, very envious of fellow owners going out for hacks in the sunshine though.
Dropped into the nursery on way home and picked up some plants for containers & baskets, my only seeds that have failed are the San Manzano tomatoes but as luck would have it they are growing this variety and the plants will be ready by the end of next week. The young lady who works there is so friendly and enthusiastic it’s a pleasure to visit.
An afternoon of sitting in the garden, reading my book with small dog asleep under my chair and Capt S watching the cricket on his laptop, beverages and snacks might have been consumed.
Another one who enjoyed the PSB at the bbc.

Good morning. Very sunny 🌞
Highdays - I don't blame you for feeling fed up. Everything is always at sixes and sevens when workmen are around. But it will be lovely when done.
Lainey - your poor horse! And you! I hope she recovers in time for you both to enjoy some sunshine
S Sue - please take care. I have two friends who have recently fallen in their own gardens! We don't want any more spots knocking off you!
The tooth saga continues.
Really lovely young dentist ( I think she had left the sixth form last week!) removed rotten tooth very efficiently. Until the anaesthetic wore off I felt great.
Then the pain returned worse than before, and now I look like a lopsided hamster, with a hot painful jaw!
Rang 111 again ( secret is to ring before 6!)
Another appointment for this morning.
This has occasioned much lying about so I've now finished Poisonwood Bible and about to start a new Elly Griffiths.
Happy 🌞day everyone9 -
Hello
Work Day one is over, thank goodness! It was a horror! Hoping tomorrow is a bit nicer! ( like a lot!)
However I was up early and we had overnight rain which is good for the garden. The birds were singing. The May flower on the hawthorn trees and hedges is magnificent.
My doggy brings me so much joy.The tips are in the tip jar ( bit meh but more than I had)
Being out in fresh air after work was nice.My garden is so lush and so much growing ( especially the new grass!) just now.Had peanut butter on sourdough toast and then remembered I had a Caramilk ice lolly in the freezer.Extra early start tomorrow so I’ve sat my clothes out!😊8 -
Hello.
Oh my word, Happycas, what a nightmare time you are having. Hope today got you what you needed. This will pass and one day you will be better.
Today's pleasures:
1) Another glorious day, bright and warm and sunny til very late evening.
2) Fab barbeque, first of the year and a great start to the barbeque season. Grandson made his famous strawberry and pineapple kebabs for afters, barbequed to perfection (yes, really, they go all syrupy and soft and caramelly - yum).
3) Son's partner's daughter hadn't tried my brownies before and voted them the best she has ever eaten. No false modesty here as I can take no credit for the recipe but they ARE seriously good and because they contain no actual chocolate - which I daren't keep in the house - they can be made with no notice from stuff I always have in stock.
4) Riotous games of croquet on what used to be a lawn and is now a building site so the balls were just going everywhere which added to the general chaos. Littlest fella did brilliantly eventhough his mallet was almost as tall as him.
5) Made plans for my bairn's birthday in a couple of weeks. It's on a Monday and a school and work day for most, one has football training, one has an evening Zoom meeting and hubby has a technical rehearsal so early birthday tea party of the egg sandwiches and jelly and ice cream variety which is pretty traditional in our house for all ages and then my bairn and his partner can gi out for a meal just the two of them (a rarity). I will babysit and son's partner's daughter (wiill have to shorten that!) and I will have a girl's night in and do facepacks, nails etc and eat brownies (at her request) and drink mocktails and then watch a chick flick. This will be very much a novelty for me as I had a boy child and three boy grandchildren so all things girly have passed my by so far.
So another weekend comes to an end, hope you enjoyed yours and were able to make the most of the weather.10 -
Hope you have got on OK, Happycas. My sons would have a lot of sympathy for you.
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) A lovely sunny day. The washing is still outside.
3) Had a pot of tea and did some Arabic in M and S cafe.
4) Used a long forgotten Mountain Warehouse voucher to buy some sandals, a t shirt and one of those fold out blankets that is plastic on one side (the sort of thing my well organised sister has, whereas we would all be sitting on Sainsbury's bags for life!)
5) My sister has bought some trainers for the guys in the hotels and the shoe shop staff were very helpful and are going to hold onto anything else that they think will be suitable.
6) Smaller son and I went out to get some chips for tea. It was a long queue and the lady next to me told me all about her garden rejigging and that her house backs on to the canal and she has a canoe.
7) I mentioned to smaller son that one of the guys always asks after my football team and has said he would like to go to a match one day. Smaller son is very much against meeting new people but was very taken with this idea - as long as he can still sit in the front of the car!

Hope the tooth gets sorted soon happycas
For Friday
1) a drink with friends in the pub - Phil Jupitus was there cos he's just finished his degree but didn't have the nerve to say hello
2) then off to the degree show - a friend's daughter had also just finished - as I arrived her parents and a mutual friend were just leaving so had a quick catch-up with them
3) then admired as much of the artwork (including my friend's daughter's amazing textiles) before
4) whizzing home past mennies (!) for a very quick supper then
5) book club - anxious people, very good, now catching up on the netflix limited series
And for the weekend
1) Saturday evening went to Don Giovanni live from the met with gbf and friends - excellent though think the final ensemble should be cut - much better to end with the very dramatic DG being dragged down into hell (sorry spoiler alert!)
2) choir practice then service - one of the basses was also at Don Giovanni and told me that final ensemble was generally omitted until the early 20th century and I see from wiki that that was a tradition that apparently began very early on. 🤣
3) lift up to work so i could print out stuff needed for tomorrow (i don't have a printer at home anymore, well i do but the black ink has run out and they don't have that make anymore and of course printers don't have interchangeable cartridges.
4) dd2 met me with the dogs and we walked home together
5) have been drawing out a snakes and ladders board for a talk i'm doing on the 7th but have to get to them 2 weeks before. which is while I'm in Singapore. i'll do my best!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

For yesterday,
The better nights sleep didn’t last but an early morning walk with small dog blew away the foggy feeling in my head.
Busy morning in the garden, beetroot and carrots potted on, plus two rows sown directly into beds, planted up baskets, fed the roses and strawberries.
I had put a chicken in the oven to roast and lovely smells kept wafting out of the kitchen, small dog positioned herself on the back doorstep so she could keep an eye on her mum whilst maximising the smelling opportunity. ☺️A snoozette turned into nearly two hours asleep but guess I must have needed it.
Evening walk followed by a fruit & cheese supper.8 -
Good morning
Frith - we have one of those waterproof backed blankets. DH bought it ages ago and I thought it was a waste of money. I'm glad I didn't say so cos actually it's been endlessly useful, esp on the beach.
Well, I'll gloss over the second visit to the dentist because I'm trying to wipe it out of my memory. Suffice it to say that it hurt. A lot. But I've now got antibiotics and although it's still swollen it's nowhere near as painful so hopefully on the mend.
The leaflet they gave me says I must rest. Don't need telling twice! So a restful lazy day for today. Maybe a little light crochet or sewing. Maybe not!
Happy Monday everyone6 -
Hello again.
Happycas - hopefully the antibiotics are kicking in and you will soon be back to rights.
Some pleasures for today:
1) Colder and cloudier today so the pleasure was a lovely warm and sunny weekend. Thr right way round for a change as it's usually miserable at the weekend and nice as soon as the weekend is over.
2) Monday morning, always a very selfish pleasure for us these days.
3) Out with the little one as he's the only one not at school. He'd had a bath and hairwash when he came in so he was all squeaky clean and shiny haired. I may be biased but I made a person who made particularly beautiful children. He is just luscious. He is also great company, very funny and very sweet, a real cool kid. A pleasure to be with .... and he still holds my hand. Daren't mention it in case he then stops but it makes me feel all warm and happy when that little hand is in mine. Very bittersweet as I know it won't always happen. I know I've said all this before but the pleasure of the bairns goes on and on.
4) Having a wardrobe crisis - too summery for winter clothes, too early for proper summer clothes. I'm too old for young clothes and too young for old clothes. Everyone else looks 'just right' and I look all wrong! Tried a pair of sandals on in a shop today and my feet look OLD. Clothes were bought, piles of them, to try on at home - and probably mostly return. Starting at me balefully but I'll try them tomorrow. Did just try on one dress and really like it so that's a start.
5) Sad about my old feet so bought them a coconut oil foot pack thingy so will sit with that on later and hope it perks them up a bit. Like they say, growing old is not for wimps!
Enjoy your evening.
