Hello.
Start of the weekend and it's gone all cold and cloudy. That's because I went to sit outside with my book, just got my trouser legs rolled up (!!!) and the sun disappeared and hasn't returned since. Hope it picks up a bit soon.
Some Friday pleasures:
1) Am now totally confused! Hubby said we should get someone else along to price up the handrail/railings job and arranged for someone to come this morning. I was a bit reluctant as I'd made my mind up what I wanted based on what the other chap suggested but, oh no, this fella had some completely other ideas that maybe sound even better. Will wait for his quote and then decide. Choices, choices!
2) An early (for me) start to the day due to 1) and it's amazing how much more you can get done in a morning when you have an early start. Not amazing enough for me to do it on a regular basis however.
3) Another walk and talk with my bairn, bit further, bit faster and a bit hillier today - bet he thought I wouldn't notice he'd upped the ante but I was puffing somewhat by the end. This had better be reflected in a loss on the scales this week eventhough we did have a couple of days away. I've walked MILES this week, even if five of them were in the shopping centre and maybe more ambling than serious walking. We will see......
4) Tried another new recipe today for a slow-cooker lentil curry. Shoved everything in the slow cooker before our walk and it looked blummin' awful. Four hours later and a gorgeous smelling and tasting thick fragrant curry emerged. Magic! One to eat, one for the freezer and a little 'lunch pot' because a cooked lunch fills me up for longer. Result!
5) Two brand new library books I'd ordered arrived so had to sit and read this afternoon, as you do. Well on with the first and it's very good so that's my bedtime reading sorted - don't like to start a brand new book in bed when I'm tired, much prefer to be well into it beforehand. Oh, the excitement!
Have you all got exciting plans for the weekend? Think we are staying pretty close to home and might do a bit of work on my new shady garden area. Little fella only had a week off at Easter when his brothers had two so he is now off next week before they all have the following week off. So we are saving our days out for next week when he can come with us - a castle is definitely on the cards, he wants to show off his knowledge as he went there last year on a school trip and was quite taken with it. He will also want to go back to feed the fishes which will involve serious cake eating too and maybe the promise of cake will lure him to the garden centre too, he wants some strawberry plants to grow. So nice things to look forward to.
Enjoy your weekend whatever you are getting up to.8 -
Hello.Up early.
Mid morning catch up with the niecelys at a soft play centre for great nephew birthday. Not my idea of fun but then I’m not 4.
Home briefly then walked round to visit mum’s NDN for a couple of hours. Has a nice afternoon.
Nice walk home and quick tea then friend picked me up to go to a bingo night at local primary school. It was a good laugh. Had fun. Didn’t win anything. And just a donation requested but not required which was nice.8 -

Good morning
Frith - smaller son is very wise. I had an abscess years ago. Had antibiotics and waited. Never had any more trouble with that tooth.
But now....
Ouch! I have toothache! ( not the same tooth!) And worse than that is trying to get it sorted!
I have had the same dentist for 25 years but last year he retired and a sort of franchise took over. Rang yesterday and she said no appointments for four weeks! No emergency appointments! Ring 111.
Rang 111. 40th in the queue! After 5 mins, still 40th so hung up.
Bought bonjela, paracetamol and whisky!
Up at 6 this morning. Rang 111 again. 5th in the queue. Hung on for 45 mins.
I now have an appointment!! 2 pm today at emergency dental centre.
Phew!

Hope your tooth gets settled soon HappyCas.
For yesterday,
Bit of sloggus domesticus, changed the bed, went through downstairs and made a loaf.
Rang garage, couldn’t get me in until Monday, luckily Capt S was working from home so could use his car, need to remember am driving a big car not a mini so no slinging it around the corners.
Over to the yard, advised that pony wouldn’t eat her hard feed with the medication in it, off to local shop and stocked up on apple juice plus two jars of apple sauce, that should do it! Cold hosed her leg and generally cosseted.
More secondhand books arrived, no 4 to 6 of the Louise Penny series, have just started book 3, little bit addicted.
Easy tea of baked spuds, probably the last before autumn, followed with a mint choc ice-cream.

Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to Park Run first thing. 2 of the guys did an interview for our local radio station. Not sure when it will be broadcast. We walked round in about an hour then played some table tennis. I went in the car of a different English lady today, who was very pleasant. I had a chat with another runner (not connected with us at all) who has just started her GCSEs so we went through how to do the English paper and the mnemonic you need for the last question.
3) Got 2 loads of washing done and dried outside.
4) Went to a local National Garden scheme open day during the afternoon. I went last year and the same lady was serving teas so we chatted again about our sons and their respective vans!
5) Smaller son very jolly today and we had a Chinese take away for tea.
6) I've been watching BBC2 where it is Pet Shop Boys night.10 -
1 Kind traffic on the journey to and fro the in laws.
2 A busy time helping them to fix and clear some things.
3 They treated us to a portion of fish and chips.
4 BIL and SIL visited while over, and also showed their new sofa that has a built-in drinks cooler, remote compartment, and recliner - this is how to live when you don’t have animals.
1 DH is sorting various things to take to a steam fair.
2 I mowed the back lawn, the first time this year, planted up and out 2 hanging baskets, and planted up 3 x plants mil passed to me in the front garden as they aren’t animal friendly.
3 Cleaned up the bird feeders and re stocked, did the bring in one set off the line, put out the next dance.
4 Chicken fajita, in the form of build your own with brown rice, lettuce, salsa, cheese.
5 Just ambling around the business of home insurance quotes at the mo, will be a pleasure when all done again.

Hello.
Oh no, Happycas, hope you managed to get sorted this afternoon.
Been a gorgeous day here today.
I'm not really a moody sort of person generally but definitely got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning and was a real grumpy old trout all morning. Couldn't have the windows open as we had builders crawling all over the place chopping up stone and making a right racket and clouds of dust everywhere. Decided we would go out for a couple of hours to make the most of the weather and let them get on with it. Just about to set off and hubby decided to do a very quick job on the car first (why??) and managed to shear a bolt off or some such which involved a series of phone calls and a trip to a dealersahip in town who can't help til Monday so we couldn't go far and by then it was lunchtime and the builders were all sat around in the garden in the sunshine so, again, we were stuck inside. Doesn't ever happen when the boss man is on site but he was at a stag do today and there was a bit too much merriment and a bit too little work going on for my liking. Grrr....
Anyway, there were pleasures:
1) Abandoned our plans and just popped to a local garden centre. Found a lovely 'antique' mirror which will look just right in my shady garden behind some ferns. Quite expensive but I had a birthday voucher so not so bad after all. Was lovely to be out in the sunshine and away from the dust and noise at home. Calmed down a bit and decided to cheer up.
2) By the time we got back the builders had finished for the day. Normally am fine with it all but was glad to see the back of them today. All now waiting for the building inspector to come next week to sign off the hole for the foundations. Honestly!
3) Sat out on the balcony thing outside the workshop which catches the late afternoon sun. I have christened it 'The Loggia' much to everyone's amusement. Had a cuppa and read my book and tried to start a bit of a tan on my feet which are rather ghost-like at the mo.
4) Son and his partner came home and asked if we wanted to join them tomorrow for a barbeque. They've bought everything but I cobbled together a bean and sweetcorn salad and a bulghur, apricot and mint salad and threw a batch of brownies in the oven as our contribution. Forecast is good so should be fun.
5) Had the lentil curry for tea - very, very yummy. Diet friendly which is just as well as, in spite of all the walking, I only lost a pound this week. Ah, with hindsight. that may have been what caused me to be a mardy so-and-so this morning. I was 0.01 of a pound off losing two - moved the scales all over the bathroom to no avail. Yes, I think the morning went downhill from there!
Hope you've enjoyed a sunny Saturday, half the weekend still left.11
