5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Hello again.
Just back from our mini break and not had chance yet to catch up on everyone but did notice the new arrival at PK's is settling in with his housemates already. Excellent!
Recent pleasures:
1) Had a lovely day yesterday at a new to us RHS garden A gorgeous warm day just perfect for sitting in the sun looking at lovely inventive planting and making plans for a bit of our garden that gets very little sun but is also shielded from grandsons' football activities so we are sure something quite exciting can be done with it. Plants to start us off were too tempting to refuse!
2) An excellent dinner in the hotel, allowed myself a delicious creamy pudding after weeks of abstinence. Yummy! A nice full tummy led to a blissful night's sleep in a very comfy big bed.
3) Hotel breakfasts are one of my favourite things and this one was very good indeed. Don't eat breakfast as a rule but suggested to hubby that if he laid me out a buffet each morning of exotic fruits and warm freshly-baked pastries I might be tempted. Somehow don't think that will happen so enjoyed it while I could.
4) Everyone in the restaurant was entranced by the antics of a set of triplets in three identical high chairs passiing things down the line from one to another. They must have been about 18 months old, all very blonde and so well behaved. So cute and when they were 'released' one of them started doing a funny walk and the others copied, just hilarious, and then they all fell over each other. Just like little puppies. Aww!!
5) Back to the serious stuff after breakfast and shopping - which was the real purpose of the day - was done. Hubby has lost weight too so needed a new suit for the upcoming wedding. Thought we'd struggle having exhausted all local shops, but joy of joys found one that fitted him perfectly within the first hour. Hooray! Not the cheapet by a mile but, as my granny used to say, he pays for dressing, so the finest Italian wool it is but, oh my, he looks just gawjus in it. The next four hours and over five miles of walking were spent trying to find me some 'next day garden party' shoes to go with a dress I already have. No joy but not the end of the world, the main pleasure is the suit is bought. Had to laugh at the fact that it cost more than ten times the cost of the supermarket dress I will be wearing but there is pleasure in a cheap frock too!
Just having a lovely cuppa - the one thing that is always best at home - and off to bed, will catch up with all your 'doings' in the morning.9 -
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) 3 quick dashes to the farm shop to use their toilet during the day!
3) Tidied up and cleaned the bathroom, in the plumber's honour.
4) Went to the charity shop but nothing doing there.
5) Plumber here! He is bigger son's friend's dad. £10 to dismantle and rebuild the flush mechanism. What a treat to have a toilet in the house again!
6) My brother did a bat survey locally so I went with him and went for a walk.7 -
For yesterday,
Washing pegged out early with silent prayer to weather gods to please not rain on it.
At the yard, got all the mud off pony and worked her in lunge pen over some poles then tucked her up to snooze the rest of the day away until she goes back out for the night, thus avoiding the sugar laden grass of the day.
My rubbish sleep over the last few nights caught up with me and had a snooze myself after lunch, under the blanket with small dog snuggled up too.
The geranium planted at the weekend already has flowers out.
Tea was prawn & pea risotto with plenty of Parmesan and pepper, all the P’s in fact!8 -

Good morning,
Just come on here to catch up with all things that have been happening during our absence.
Frith - so relieved, and yes that is definitely the word, that your loo is fixed. What a nightmare!
SuffolkSue - goodness, that sounds dreadful! Presume you had a nasty fall and did yourself quite a lot of damage. So sorry and best wishes for a very speedy recovery.
Looks lovely through the window so hope it's a nice warm day and we can get on with our side garden plans when hubby gets back from set-building. In the meantime a morning to myself to settle back into being at home (we were only away one night!!).
Enjoy your day and go steady everyone!9 -

Hello. Just watching as all my solar lights start to come on. Still light here at 9.40pm
Rubbishy sleep but woke after 6am which is later for me.Started moving furniture/ mattress etc to where they’re supposed to be which isn’t my bedroom and the bathroom! Looking good even if I say so myself!Supermarket. Met colleague doing the work shop so stood behind her in the queue chatting! Got three books from the charity shelf. The two books I read at the weekend I’ve passed on to friend tonight for her holiday reading.Home and hello doggy, that’s me in to stay now. More moving stuff around. Hung out washing. I’d went to put a white duvet cover on spare bed and noticed it had stains ? make up/ fake tan. Put it on a hot wash ( and how blooming long do they take! ) anyway a couple of very brief showers but washing all dried.Hoovered upstairs/ downstairs and washed floors.Made a lasagne. It was rather yummy. Honestly couldn’t tell you the last time I made one! Had it with salad and coleslaw. We had pancakes with RTC clotted cream and strawberries for pud.Tuesday tea. As usual much chatter, much laughter, the odd tear tonight, DD2 and the chap came a bit later so they ate theirs. Going to drop off leftovers for DD2 lunch tomorrow. Doggy really enjoys the company.Dishes all done and worktops and table all cleaned.10
