Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Worn out after all the coach travel yesterday, so not a bad sleep.
2) Smaller son very mithered about his tooth abscess which has changed direction and is now in the roof of his mouth... Very little pain, which is pleasing him.
3) Stopped smaller son's phone contract. He has a new one and it was just a job I had been putting off.
4) Photographed and emailed stuff to the house solicitor.
5) Had a pot of tea in M and S cafe and did some Arabic.
6) Remembered to take the Arabic to English letter comparison sheet to English lessons for someone whose spoken English is marvellous but who does not know our alphabet at all. I had quite a large group in English but they were all helping each other out by translating to each other.
7) I went to see bigger son at his house afterwards and had a cup of tea.
8) The house smells fousty and damp so I attempted to light the stove with the last remaining log! Also lit a couple of candles and have turned the heating on. There is washing everywhere, as it never stops raining - on the radiators, draped over things, soaking wet on the line outside...9 -
1 DH’s birthday has been naturally really good if that makes sense it just worked out, he enjoyed token presents as the main one doesn’t arrive for a month, a t shirt with stitch on saying its okay to be weird, his fav chocolate, a fleece, a daft gadget and a big chocolate cake.
2 I received a call from a rescue centre who has a ferret who has been very ill and had a lot of work done at the vets to get this far, he is recovered but is not coping with his surroundings at all. We are going across to meet him tomorrow, just us no ferrets as we need to check him over and the vet will check him over again if we do take him on, which I don’t really have any doubt on I know us, even if it does end up being a short life, he can be loved in a home.
3 I did the basics to keep the house okay today so a washing load, cleaned the ferret trays and areas.
4 DH didn’t want to go out for a meal in bank holiday with extra people around, so we will go out during the week, but we did order in his favourite pizza.
5 So many birds in the garden, I was happy until I realised some were eating the grass seed!!!

For yesterday,
Awake early so beloved fetched us both a cuppa and we sat up in bed reading.
Some washing done and out on the line, hoping the forecast would be right and morning stay dry.
Over to the stables, pony a complete mud monster after overnight shenanigans so kept me busy, good chats with other owners, such a friendly yard to be at.
Driving home and side verges full of forget me nots & bluebells.
Easy tea of cold pork and spicy wedges, a quiet BH for us with Capt S knee deep in the audit but enjoyable all the same.10 -
1 Drove for just over an hour and visited “our little ferret” honestly it didn’t take long to be absolutely smitten, not a bite in this lad, how can anyone have been cruel to him? And he was just so happy to be with us. His stuffing is literally coming out. It was heart wrenching walking away; he was staring at us. He’s ours. We have to leave him to see if the vet can say he’s well enough, and they’ll send us his vet records. We literally miss him and want to pick him up.
2 Home and our guys gave us the once and over and touch wood all seem okay.
3 Napped, well dh napped I relaxed and just watched all the bird coming and goings in the garden, the woodpecker, a one-armed squirrel and a team of starlings.
4 Had one of those “Chinese in a box” things, so popped it in the oven and served with some brown rice – it was alright for the price.
5 Very chilled, just hoping the little lad can keep healthy enough to make it home with us this weekend, we find out tomorrow.

Evening all - watching the madness of Eurovision. I luvs it
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Finished the batch of marking 🥳 sent the marks off and the moderator changed only 2 of them (out of 24) upwards. Thrilled for one lad in particular but there is no way his work is actually a first. Wouldn't have been back in the day..
2. started the big tidy up - did the three worst rooms
3. DS came back - he'd had a nice time
4. Easy tea for me of freezer left over beef and left over cauli cheese. DS had a steak so also easy. Same veg
5. we watched the second of the Guardians of the Galaxy films.
And today
1. had a bath and watched another Happy Valley
2. out for lunch with friend
3. Thought i'd broken the hoover but it recovered (not that much of a pleasure as i don't like it so wouldn't care that much if it had broken)
4. the other half of the beef and cauli cheese - DS had some chicken also from the freezer
5. watching eurovision
Enjoy the rest of your evening.I wanna be in the room where it happens8 -
Hello.Woke early and just got up. Pottered around.
Went as far as the supermarket. Got two nice marguerite plants with my tip money ( sadly not all from this week…that would have been nice!)
Home and hello doggy, it really wasn’t that long. We just sat and had a cuddle a few times today. He will just follow me around until I actually stop what I’m doing.Caught up on housework stuff. Cleaned bathrooms, hoovered, washed floors etc. The chap had moved my new reading chair and stool upstairs to the first painted room on Sunday. So I was able to move my dining table back round again, the way I prefer.Chat to sister on phone.Did a bit in the garden. Deadheaded the last of the daffodils and polyanthus. Lots starting to flower. Beautiful asters. And cornflower now blooming. So much rain all day yesterday made the biggest difference.Friends came for tea. Had gammon steaks done in the oven with onion rings and a salad and caramelised pineapple ( that was for breakfast platter the other week…I’m so rubbish at eating fruit!..but when I do I like it! Just prefer vegetables.Had an apple pie and strawberries for pudding ( there you go more fruit!) and just the biggest blethering and laughing session.Popped out to water the new plants just as pretty solar lights were coming on.A good day.9 -
Evening all.
P_kitten - hope your new little fella is well enough to be with you by the weekend, sounds like some tlc is much needed so he will be coming to the right place.
Today's little pleasures:
1) Everyone back at school/work so all quiet on the western front.
2) The builders are booked to come back at the weekend to finish the paving round my summerhouse and then hubby can get it painted and it's nearly there.
3) Had my hair cut - not keen on the process but it's a pleasure when it's done. One more chop before 'the wedding' so agreed with the hairdresser to take my hat to the next appointment to make sure all in order. She has already said she will cut a few more layers in the top so when I take it off I can 'puff' my hair up again from where the hat flattens it.
4) Because they were taking more walls down at the weekend everything, absolutely everything, is covered in gritty brick dust - even in the drawers and cupboards. We had a good clean up on the surface today and I now have a 'ten minute plan' for everything else. Any odd ten minutes before we go out or while my coffee cools down or while the veg are cooking I will tackle another area til it's all done.
5) Off to a lovely garden centre tomorrow, quite a way away but we have something to return so a good excuse for a day out, hope it's a sunny day and we can have a good look round outside. Need to look for a 'Ruby Wedding' rose and a nice pot for my brother and his wife's 40th anniversary.
Right, heading off to bed in a mo, hope you've had a good day.9 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Got so fed up with washing all over the house that I took it to the launderette and it all had 30 minutes in the massive tumble dryer there!
3) Wanted to go to the charity shop but the road opposite us was shut (some emergency terrible fire hydrant collapse, apparently). Anyway, I thought I would go the other way, which means single track roads and a lot of weaving about. In the distance, I could see a car had stopped and I thought it was in one of the passing places and waiting for me. It did look awkwardly parked. I carried on and it had pulled over and tipped up in the ditch! One front wheel (nearest the road) was just about touching the ground but the back wheel was 50cm up in the air.
I stopped and they had already phoned a farmer who came in a Toyota Hilux. Both he and I had towing ropes in the car but only thin, not really suitable for dragging cars from ditches. In the end, me and another lady sat in the back of the car (quite difficult to get in when the door was nearly facing the sky!) and we bounced up and down as though we were doing a hill climb. Another man stood in the doorway as well. With a bit of towing, the car came back out of the ditch and "touched down" quite gently.
4) Then I went to the charity shop and got a top for £3.50.
5) I did steak for tea, with chips, onion rings, tomatoes and mushrooms. Plus blue cheese.
6) My brother was doing a bat survey in Mortimer Forest so I went with him and went for a walk while he worked. I found one geocache but didn't see any fallow deer (they have a different species only found in that forest, with long hair).9 -
goodness thought i hadn't posted for a few days - turns out it's 8 days!!! work has been stupidly busy and the weather so absolutely awful it's been difficult to get motivated. and of course with Dr M away...
1) the coronation - the music was glorious. watched it with mum.
2) the big lunch on Sunday after the church service - i did a big rainbow salad cos i guessed lots of people would bring quiche - i was right - there was also a scrummy rhubarb crumble
3) my gbf - he came picked us up from town then he and i went for a lovely (if damp) walk round the botanics then scones and tea then we walked the boys
4) litter picking on monday with my colleague from work - we drove over to Tayport - again very damp but we had a lovely walk
5) sunshine this morning - thank good - lunch with 10 friends, one of whom is now 80
6) normal service is resumed - Dr M is back as is Mr G and we watched the Man City game with a Sunderland supporter - the four of us will in on Saturday for the Luton Sunderland match

Hello. Sunny again. We foolishly checked the weather forecast and, because it said lots of rain, didn't go to the caravan this week. So far it's been sunny most of the time!
DfV - a lovely post. Thank you
P Kitten - I hope the rescue ferret is well enough to come to you. It sounds as if he needs a lucky break.
Frith - I'm glad I don't have to drive on single track roads. Not too keen on driving anyway. But you did have an adventure!
I've not posted much because nothing much is happening.
Lots of gardening going on. At least the mix of rain and showers is good for making things grow. Everything looks lush and green. Our mini almond blossom tree was very badly frosted so I cut that back yesterday. It's still alive though so may grow back properly. I'm not very good at being ruthless and throwing things out !
Experimenting making biscuits in the air fryer, with much success so far. Pleased I don't have to turn the oven on!
Reading The Poisonwood Bible. Enjoying it.
Started crocheting a daisy chain
As I said, not a lot happening but that's the way I like it
Happy 🌞 day everyone7
