Sorry to be MIA but it’s been a fraught few days with health issues for small dog so in no particular order of preference my pleasures are,
A decent vets practice who know our little girl very well and were quick to act, in particular the kindness of the vet who remembered our Rose dog who passed away unexpectedly under GA and therefore understood how worried I would be.
How clean our house is as I just needed something to do yesterday whilst all the scans, x-rays and operations went ahead, kept me busy at least.
Having decent insurance so that the definitely not MSE bill wasn’t such a problem.
And last but no means least just having her home.

Hello. Early posting for me but will be early bed tonight as up very early for work tomorrow.
Quiet kind of day. Had an unexpected long lie (6.30am…very late for me! )
At recycling centre just after 8am and then a second trip at 11am. Got the bulk of my bedroom carpet up just what’s under my bed but too heavy to move myself. Will get help over the weekend and tip appointment is booked for Tuesday morning.Finished the book I was reading.Waiting in on a blooming parcel being delivered. Grrr! By end of day…when does a day end?Had leftover steak pie and vegetables for an early tea.It has lashed with rain for most of the day although has been dry the past half an hour. Much needed by the garden. But it can stop now!9 -
Hello again.
Lainey - so glad your little dog is sorted and safely back home, hope she has a speedy recovery.
Today's pleasures:
1) A lovely quiet day, just steady away doing a bit of this and that. Glad we will be mainly at home for the bank holiday well away from nightmare roads and all tucked up safe and sound. Weather forecast sounds pretty good and we have some planting and garden jobs to be done - very fair weather gardeners so it can wait if it's not so good.
2) My SIL's name has been corrected on the RVS website and an amended certificate will be issued. Phew! They never came back to me on it but my brother had also seen it and is like a dog with a bone if something is not right and he got results pretty sharpish.
3) Something - not sure what - was craned in over our hedge (and my car!!) today in readiness for the builders who are coming back tomorrow. Not as random as it sounds, my son was out there talking to the man who operated the crane from some contraption hung round his neck. Son is doing a sterling job in making sure all supplies are ordered and delivered just ahead of when they are needed, good project management skills!
4) Hubby was at the garage first thing as his car had developed an intermittent 'not quite right' noise. Anyway, they had a good look and all seems to be ok so no nasty, expensive bill thank goodness.
5) Some of the books I ordered from the library have arrived, all new releases and I'm dibbing about not sure which to read first. Decisions!
Despite all the gourmet recipes I have been making and stashing in the freezer (a good fortnight off from cooking from scratch is on the cards), have a real hankering for lovely comfort food tonight so a diet-friendly version of eggs, beans and chips followed by bananas and custard. Yummy, off to sort it now, been looking forward to it all day!
Enjoy your Bank Holiday weekend.8 -
Evening everyone. Lainey, I’m glad your little dog is ok and back home with you 😊
Dundee. Doll, I wish had half your energy!
for this week: A nice walk round local gardens with my sis (first photo) a not so nice jacket potato for lunch ☹️
A lovely lunch, seafood linguine, followed by lemon 🍋 posset with friends from Ware on Wednesday.
OH and I are now happily ensconced in our holiday cottage in Norfolk. We went to beautiful Blickling Hall on our way today (second and third photos). We had a good look around the house and then tea and cake in the cafe. We didn’t want to eat out tonight so I cooked sausages, eggs and bacon with fresh bread(raided our breakfast supplies 🤣). I have had a bath ( a rare pleasure now as we only have a shower at home).
Have a lovely bank holiday weekend everyone.7 -

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) A good hour of Arabic in M and S cafe.
3) An email from the solicitor with various documents from the people who are dealing with the potential new house. No problems so far...
4) Smaller son and I went for a walk along the canal and went in Sainsburys.
5) I scraped down the reveal (edge of the fireplace) where the paint flakes and repainted it so it looks better for the house survey next week.
6) I went to Wildlife Club at the village hall. The speaker was very enthusiastic.
7) In bed now and will watch HIGNFY just now.
Got to get up quite early tomorrow for Park Run.8 -
Thanks all x
For yesterday,
Had slept downstairs on the sofa to be near small dog but apart from struggling at times to get comfy she seemed ok.
She has a plethora of tablets to take, the only one that proved a problem was the one that was supposedly palatable, broke it in half and hid the pieces in a piece of cheese which did the job.
Bit of housework, changed the bed and made a loaf, filled up the bird feeders which are hung in the apple tree and admired the bluebells that have come up underneath.
Lunch, an hours snooze and then Capt S came home to relieve me of nursing duties so I skipped off to see pony, hello, remember me! No apparent sulking but that could be down to both a carrot & apple being offered in recompense ☺️Home, easy tea of baked spuds and then quiet evening reading & watching a bit of tele.7 -
We have a large and unexpected car bill for the car we aren't planning to replace, so it is being done, just very ouchy in the same month as it's insurance is due.Lainey, so glad small dog is home and recovering. Some for yesterday.
1 Took my car for a lovely run to the in laws, I de toured and did the back roads we got to see bluebells, lambs, birds of prey, woods and I got the history of what used to be where.
2 A lovely, relaxed visit.
3 We treated them to a meal out at a café which was really tasty.
4 They saved me the national trust voucher from the express saving the cost of the paper.
5 For the first time in a very long time, I saw a hedgehog in their garden as we were leaving at midnight, and a lovely drive back home.

Yesterday
1) spring flowers
2) bird song .. skylarks, chiff chaffs, greater whitethroat
3) feeding jackdaws, think they must have young because last time they ate and stayed near but this time they took and flew away and returned about 5 mins later (one has a damaged foot so easy to tell it’s the same pair)
4) sunshine
5) a hare
5) village benches… live in a city and love to walk to a village sit on a bench and listen to the bird song and people going about their daily life
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?10 -
1 Beautiful weather, so 3 loads of washing loads out in the sun.
2 Clean bedding for us.
3 There was a lot of bad for us food yesterday, so just a simple minted pork chop and veg parcel for dinner.
4 I was just about to sit on the garden bench when Sherbet climbed up me and sat and curled up on the bench next to me, making me stop.
5 Planning a NT trip with the voucher to Ightham Mote, to walk in the morning, and then visit the grounds in the afternoon, looking forward to it. I also need to book in our anniversary membership. We’ve also got the 2-4-1 gardens card from the magazine which should be useful during the year.
