Hello.
Another Louise Penny fan here. Inspector Gamache and Shardlake are my favourite fictional men. I didn't read them in order but agree it would make sense to do so!
Today's pleasures:
1) Feeling quite a bit happier today, back on my perch, a big relief as it's not in my nature to be miserable.
2) Monday - always a pleasure when you are retired we have found. Had a nice relaxed sorting sort of day and actually achieved quite a lot in a leisurely sort of way. Finished a very good library book for which there is a waiting list so will pop it back tomorrow.
3) Watched Derren Brown last night and still talking about it today, very spooky. He lost his dad to Covid and talks quite a bit about him in the show, very moving. Still very spooky though!
4) Hubby has made me a fab herb planter from a wooden pallet and painted it ready to hang on the verandah thing outside the workshop/wooden cabin. Very impressed, must remember to tell him.
5) Little fella came in to eat his tea. We have been watching some cartoons together and his giggle is very infectious. So cute.
Having a very easy Monday tea so will go and do a bit of an assembly and reheating job.
Enjoy your evening.

Hello.Just watched the Dawn service in Sydney for Anzac Day. Lest we forget.
It’s the most stunning sunset here as they wake up to a new morning.
Work is done. Hurrah! Okay tips. A few odd things occurred but that’s just a day at our work!Had to do a mercy dash this afternoon to DD2 flat! Sigh! But thankfully alls well that ends well! And hello my doggy. The best part of a work day is the coming home 🏡
Been a chilly day here ( apparently…I work in a melting kitchen!) and to be cold overnight. DD2 and the chap need to stay here tonight so they may put the heating on for an hour when they arrive.6 -
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Tidied up, 2 loads of washing done. Beds changed and bathroom cleaned.
3) I went to the library to print out the necessary stuff for English class.
4) On to M and S for the now customary pot of tea and an hour of Arabic.
5) English class! We did working and jobs today.
An extra pleasures for yesterday was watching for meteorites. We saw 2 as fine as a hair (the tail) then 2 absolute fireballs with a proper long tail after them! And then... we saw the Northern Lights.8 -
For yesterday,
Into horsey town for a shop, bit of a stock up actually as had run stores down a tad but got everything on my list and came in on budget.
Bit of sloggus domesticus and also sorted out some paperwork.
Finally seeing some green leaves on the big beech trees and all the blossom in the hedges.
Finding a packet of liquorice allsorts in the secret compartment in my car, so secret had forgotten all about them! Nom nom on way home from stables.
Deer in the field at dusk.

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Various jobs done during the morning.
3) Went to Ludlow charity shops (bought nothing) and did some Arabic whilst drinking tea.
4) Home for lunch then went to the clothes "shop" at the hotel. Lots of people came in for t shirts, trousers etc. Then 2 guys came in who must be fashionistas. Bear in mind if I want a T shirt, I march into a shop, buy something that looks like it will fit then walk out again. Sometimes I get so bored I leave without buying anything! These guys looked through the racks for 20 mins, trying things, doing a twirl, looking in the mirror, pondering how they could adjust the necklines. They weren't messing around but genuinely discussing fit and colours.
5) Bumped into someone I worked with at my first job, in 1996! He had retired then and was working part time so looked ancient today.
6) Dug up some self seeded plants and potted them to go in the potential new garden.7 -
Hello. Late post for me.A cold and frosty start to the day.Dropped off The Chap at their flat and then dropped off stuff at DD2 work.Went to different supermarket on way back and ended up spending more ( as there were fripperies)
Home and hello doggy I’m most definitely back in for the day.Pulled up one carpet and absolutely manhandled it downstairs! Oooft! Then thought oh despite it being -2o at the start of the day it all looks rather pleasant so grabbed a new book, my sun hat and off I went into the garden. I may have dozed as well as read!Tuesday tea. Birthday girl in attendance so she’d requested gammon joint which was done in the slow cooker. With loads of veggies. Then I’d made Anzac biscuits which were delicious, served with fruit and a slice of birthday cake. And an evening of blethering and laughter.Popped outside as I’d left my book on the table just as my twinkling lights came on, a clear sky, a beautiful sunset and a slice of moon. Lovely.6 -
Hello again.
Just popping in briefly before a reasonably early night.
Today's pleasures:
1) A lovely day, cold but bright and sunny with blossoming trees looking lovely against the blue sky. Nearly May, one of my favourite months, and today it felt like it wasn't too far off after a really cold April.
2) Missing my mum a lot today for some reason so wore one of her jumpers and had a spray of her perfume this morning and she felt somehow nearer. Very comforting, there are times I really don't want to be the grown up!
3) To the hygienist this afternoon, not a pleasure in itself but the fact it's done is definitely a pleasure. At my age I'd like to keep my own teeth for as long as possible so need to look after them.
4) Had to travel back to where we moved from as our dentist is still there. Was very happy to point the car homewards and am very happy that we no longer consider that to be 'home', we are very settled down here now and know we made the right decision. It was lovely to get back this evening, even though large parts of the house are still a building site but the roofers are confirmed for mid-May and we appear to have had another delivery of bricks ready for later this week. Hooray!
5) Heard this evening that my sister-in-law has been selected as one of the Coronation Champions. Well done her! She was nominated by her charity (one that would be very close to your heart, Lainey) which is wonderful as she works tirelessly for them and it's fantastic that her dedication has been recognised. Along with my brother, she will attend the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle and he is planning a chauffer-driven limousine so she will travel in style and will have a most memorable day. Well deserved, we are so proud of her.
Right, off to bed with my new library book.
Sleep well.

Morning all. Highdays, i don't want to be the grown up either most of the time. If it makes you feel better, i was watching something this morning (Race Across the World) where someone was missing their grandmother and they did a kind of rememberance ceremony and i randomly burst into tears! I don't do tears generally, so was somewhat taken by surprise.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. completed the batch of marking that is due tomorrow. Loads more to go though
2. an unexpected walk along the canal with friend and her doggy, in the sunshine
3. new dishwasher - i've been nursing the old one along for some years but it was totally falling apart.
4. a clean kitchen
5. cinema with my girl - dungeons and dragons. Was fun.
Have a great day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens7
