1. Awake for some hours earlier, listening to R4X omnibus of Edna O'Brien's 'The Country Girls'. Terrific dramatisation.

Garlic planted deep in both Belfast sinks, as last year. Plenty of fallen oak leaves worked in. Hope for as good a crop this time round.4. Thinking of ANZAC Day on Tuesday. 4 years since & saw them in this space and place, for her father, grandfather and Uncle.

Bedtime cappuccino in the new2& mug, which reads 'Tea is always a good idea'. Works just as well for café. Who'd have guessed?:-)#CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Hello again, bit grey and 'watery' here but hopefully might brighten up a bit later.
Some pleasures:
1) Bit more roof work done yesterday, all a bit slow but at least we are watertight and can see how it will look when it's finished.
2) Still feeling a bit sensitive and weepy so taking it steady and having quite a bit of down time with my book and relaxing oils in the diffusers, every little helps!
3) New magazine arrived yesterday so will sit and have a read of that this afternoon with a cuppa.
4) Bought the biggest pineapple I have ever seen, absolutely gigantic. Had expected it to be all woody and disappointing but no, it is totally 'just right', yum!
5) Some nice diet-friendly and comforting meals planned for this week.
Hope you enjoy your Sunday afternoon - remember the mobile emergency alarm test at 3. Reckon it'll still make me jump regardless!8 -
Hello everyone
A better week as hay fever wasn’t as bad.
On Monday I Went to the building society with O H to finally move his account and ISA to ones that will pay some interest, only took me nearly 20 years to persuade him! We then had brunch at his favourite cafe to celebrate. It was warm enough to sit outside (with our coats on)
Swimming on Tuesday but didn’t go on Thursday as I had my hair cut on Wednesday and I didn’t want to waste £35 straight away 🤣
We went to the crematorium on Thursday to put some flowers on his dad’s plot and then lunch at OHs favourite pub. His homemade pie 🥧 was good but my tikka masala was disappointing as it lacked flavour.
Lunch out again for me on a Friday with 2 friends to a Greek restaurant. Food was good with dips and calamari to start and then lamb kebab.
I cooked a cottage pie last night and we’re having pork fillets in an apple and leek sauce with homemade spicy wedges tonight. No wonder I don’t lose any weight 🤣
have a lovely Sunday evening 😘7 -
Work. Oooft! I am cream crackered.
Up early. Out early. Beautiful sunrise.
Cuddles with my dog boy before I went.
Okay tips. Was a very busy day.
Home, hello Doggy. Hello DD 2 ,who had been here for doggy cuddles.
One down one to go.7 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Had a pot of tea in Marks and Spencers.
3) Had quite a few messages from people.
4) Went to the cinema in the afternoon to help clear stuff from the offices upstairs.
5) We all stood at 3pm waiting for the alarms to sound on our phones. Of the 4 of us (at the cinema) only one alarm worked! We then heard a disembodied voice telling us there was an alarm and we thought there must be another phone somewhere in the building (which is vast). Eventually we found out it was the till in the kitchen area !
6) Smaller son and I went out for a kebab.7 -
P.S the Lyrids are peaking and it might be possible to see the Northern Lights tonight.6

have had Louise Penny recommended by someone else ampers will defo look in library when i get back but for now...
1) flight delayed cos they had 4 pilots to accommodate and business class was fully booked so they needed 4 volunteers to go into economy plus - sweetener to $2000 vouchers!!! took a while to get 4, clearly not mse members, sadly i wasn't even in economy plus so no good to me
2) watched Banshees of Inisherin (strange film), during which supper arrived then sleeeep aided by having middle seat empty hooray
3) bag arrived safely, tram to centre then off for Dorothy Dunnett centenary celebration - i touched down at 8:30, arrived at hotel at 10:00 asked who was staying at that hotel (we're not), friend who was let me use her shower, bliss!
4) then lots of catching up with old friends and making new friends. Excellent speakers, excellent food for 3 days
5) and today we had a day to ourselves so 5 of us went to the Royal Britannia (fab) and had lunch on it (even fabier, we had some sarnies left over so I kept those for later) then back to B&B then I went to a pub to watch the match but missed extra time cos i wanted to go to evensong at Old St Paul (superb music) then i walked back to where i knew they were eating supper, eating my scrummy salmon sandwich en route. very mse of meand now catching up on extra time and penalties though i do know the score.

For yesterday,
Up early as had been warned of electric outage, filled a flask and walked small dog.
As it was the power didn’t go off until 9am so time for a boiled egg as well, just me and my pal for the day as Capt S still away.Thank goodness for my little battery powered radio, caught up on all things Ambridge but also the wonderful DID of Jonathan Agnew later on R4X, one of his choices was the infamous Ian Botham leg over comment and Brian Johnson’s inability to speak for laughing, priceless.Popped into horsey town and visited a couple of CS to pick up books.
Reading, walking and found an early Vera to watch in the evening.7 -
Morning all - at work but no-one has turned up to this final workshop (not surprising as the final assessment was submitted last week). So I'm getting paid to drink coffee and read MSE although I should be marking.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. waking up in my own bed after 8 hours sleep
2. lovely bathy with a bubble bar and episode 2 of series 1 of Happy Valley - I've decided to rewatch them.
3. Not going shopping as i decided i could cobble something together - chicken, roasties i'd frozen from leftovers, veg that needed using up.
4. finally eating some easter egg - COVID meant i wouldn't have been able to taste it, so i saved it.
5. Getting through some marking. One batch done, one to go (of this lot - I have two other lots to do).
Have a great day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens6 -
Oh my goodness, it's COLD! It is actually forecast to be a frost tonight!!I
D Doll - yes,do read Louise Penny. It's probably best to read them in order if you can. I didn't ( of course!) But then I had the treat of reading them all again in the right order.
Still at the caravan. Nice and snug inside but did I mention, it's very cold out. But bracing!
Going to meet two Canadian cousins tomorrow. I suppose it might feel warm to them! We've never met before as I was only 3 or 4 when they emigrated so I'm looking forward to that.
I've finished crocheting DGD sleeves. Sort of like a holey long sleeve top but with no body part! To wear over vest tops/ bikini etc. As you do ( if you're nearly 15!).
Might make some lavender next. Started ages ago but got side tracked by sleeves.
Happy chilly day everyone7
