Hello. Bedtime for me.Alarm went off at 3am which is quite ridiculous!Very quick and very quiet doggy walk.In at work for a couple of hours.Home and took doggy to the beach but it was a bit later than we would normally go and tide was in and there were a few too many dogggies. People who let their dogs straight off lead as soon as they are out their cars without having a care that other dogs ( mine) might not be as receptive! We left before any barking however…anyway a nice drive there and back.
Been very headachy all day, tried to snooze but too headachy.Made cheese scones
SIL FaceTimed me this evening which was nice. DD2 & the chap had been over there today. And just like that the days off are done! Mostly spent lifting flooring and visiting the tip!10 -
hope you're feeling better mhags
ouch re the car bill pk
1) normal service is returned - started day with porridge then a long soak in the bath
2) workshop at the cathedral - good fun and great to catch up with people
3) the unlikely pilgrimage of harold fry at our local independent cinema - very good - had taken a cheese sandwich and filled my water bottle
4) home and friend had dropped tools round to demolish the decking - also dd2's bf had arrived so the three of us set to work
5) after supper (cooked by dd2's bf and very yummy) we christened the new fire pit and dd2's friend arrived with marshmallows to add to our chocolate digestives to make smores - a lovely evening and only a fraction of the wood cut for burning - should get through the cutting by the end of the week

Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not the worst sleep.
2) Off to Park Run. Got below an hour today! Had some nice chats walking round then had a cup of tea then played table tennis. We then became the crowd watching people have a wrestling match.
3) Went to the shop in the next village to get fresh samosas (they make them on Fridays only).
4) Smaller son and I went to watch our football team play. After a very long spell of poor form, they were nowhere near the top of the league. Then they won 5 (?) in a row... Today, certain teams lost then we won 3-0 and we are now (just) in the playoffs! We had pie and mash.
5) I phoned my school friend.10 -
For yesterday,
A warm, sunny day after so much cold, bedding washed & dried on the line.
My seedlings are finally pushing through, carrots & beetroots anyway, no sign of toms yet though.
Made scones too Mhags, mine were sultana ones, is there anything better than warm scones & butter.
An afternoon spent with my big girlie, we had a meander around in the sunshine and she was a good horse despite not having worked for days. The shedding of her coat has resumed after the cold snap and I was swiping tufts of it off as we went along, leaving a trail of white hair behind us.
Drove home and listened to the final 10 minutes of our game, a much needed 3 points and our survival in L1 is back in our own hands.Lots of bunting and coronation decorations already up in the villages, very bright and cheery but couldn’t match the lilac blooms falling over a wall for sheer beauty.6 -
Good morning all,
Dare & even do a fingers x'd for this post and hope 3rd time lucky?
On verra.

Lainey, so glad to read little dog is recovering.
Mhags - still on your crazy days and clocks and earlies and busy-ness. A pity Bob Flowerdew wasn't on hand to lift and take your old carpet away. He loves it and & has it on top of compost.
Paulie - recognised old & stamping ground with Blickling.
1. Lovely lunch with friends on Friday. Found self voicing things never said since X took his own life. A very, very special time and shared afternoon.
2. Glad to have given them some good plants and seedlings from village lady. Money is just put through door e.g. minimum 3 sugar snap peas in pot for 20p, astilbe 50p, hostas 50p. J is terrific and again & thought of those emporium tomato seedlings, 3 for £12!
3. Another no-mow May call heard on Friday, but &'s grassy areas are nearing mini-jungle. Weathers and timings and plans have not accorded so far. Fingers x'd for today at some point.
4. Yesterday! Twickenham! Coach from rugby club and a long, slow, snarly journey down. Even then, super lady driver was obliged to disgorge us at some distance.
Made it to good seat with ½-hour to kick-off and what a match! What an occasion! Record crowd! Allez les Bleues/Vas y les Filles from & weren't quite enough :-) Incredible match! France seemed without ideas early on, even when exerting 15-20 mins early pressure. Their 2 missed 1st ½ penalty chances WERE the match, it transpired.
2nd half France! - just WOW!!! Dazzling, amazing stuff, but not quite enough. A glorious occasion though. Sugarbabes at half-time.....& has heard of them.
5. Then to find coach park for return. Hmmm, despite & obeying all post-match instructions, no others seen, no msgs came through and no replies. En bref, 1½ stadium circuits by & and asking officials. Everyone tried to help, to no avail. & spotted 4 coaches far off, made for them. Periphery North Gate 3.....no and no more anywhere. 3 more Gate chaps radioed and suddenly a call - '&!!!!.....' Turned round and there saw L and A in their car! A is our home match gate man and & didn't even know they'd gone. So, long story short, back to Peacock HQ and car.....in time to be swept into U16s Girls barbecue and party afternoon.
All in all, a lively, lovely, sunny beautiful special day.
#will post pics later. Daren't risk the usual...
Good Sunday to you all:-)

Good afternoon
Another lovely sunny day. Just what we need
D Doll - you certainly do improve the shining hour! Indeed, you seem to have more hours in a day than most people! It's great to read of all your adventures.
Lainey - so glad your dog is on the mend
Ampersand - sounds like a great rugby day all round.
We met DD yesterday to admire the engagement ring ( only seen on WhatsApp so far) and hear the tentative wedding plans. It won't be until next summer but they need to decide the venue as they all get booked up very early. Exciting times.
Enjoying my daily wander round our garden. Only a small suburban plot but I love to see all the plants coming back to life. Even my wild garlic has. reappeared
We thought pigeons were nesting in a tree at the bottom of the garden but we've not seen them lately and DH said he found an eggshell under the tree so it looks as if they've gone 😞
Made some more gf shortbread for DD but kept a few pieces back for us. Will be nice with ice cream for today's pudding.
Happy 🌞day everyone8 -
Hello. Workety work day number one is done, hurrah! I always kind of dread a Sunday but it was actually alright in the end up!Up early. Oooft at alarm clock waking me up. I much prefer to wake up naturally.Rain. Rain. Rain. Though currently dry.I enjoyed my hour to myself this morning. My favourite time is making scones for work. Today was raspberry and white chocolate and fruit scones. I always make a teeny fruit scone for myself! My mid morning treat! Then when my colleague comes in we have an hour of blethering and catching up before the next person comes in. Then we open and today it was BAM!💥 very busy.Popped into supermarket on way home and got a lovely bunch of RTC flowers…I always like to get a ‘luxury’bunch much cheaper!Home and hello doggy who did have two visitors earlier. He’s currently schnooking on his duck.
I have two new babies at the back of my garden. Collared doves. Mummy has just started leaving the nest that she has very patiently sat on for weeks. And I can see two little baby bird heads bobbing around. Lovely!8 -
Evening all
pleasures wednesday - saturday
1. getting through some marking
2. out with OH's friends. I was stuck up the WaG end - was a bit dull, i've nothing to say to either of them. And i copped for driving. The pleasure is that the food was nice and it's only once a year.
3. OUt with OH and DS on THursday. It was our 32nd wedding anniversary and we went to steam railway. OH and I get to go for free as working volunteers of another railway, DS got in for free on OH's shareholders ticket. We did spend some money once there though.
4. And another meal out - lunch in the pub near to the railway
5. finally back in ICT after an enforced prolonged absence due to holidays and COVID
6. Cycling up to the pub for a drink and catching up with friends.
7. Machynlleth comedy festival - lovely atmosphere and some good (and a couple of 'meh') acts
8. nice to sit in the sun with a beer
9 but also nice to get home again at a reasonable time.
10. my bed
Have a lovely evening all.I wanna be in the room where it happens9 -
hmm was going to try to do a NSD today - reader read on...
1) woke at 7:22 feeling rested and happy - made a cuppa, sorted the dogs and went back to bed - what a wonderful mse start to the day
2) beautiful Sunday service on Radio 4, then off to the Cathedral - 45 minutes choir practice then the service - very good - oh but collection for choir member who's had an op so that was a spend
3) no coffee - our provost is very sensible - there's a rota to sign and if noone signs up there's no coffee - gave a pound to the chap on the steps instead
4) sorted the fridge - i've been away pretty much for 2 weeks and a few things needed popping into a soup sharpish so that's lunches sorted
5) back for evensong rehearsal then service - very nice array of nibbles after so that's supper sorted - then a bus ride back so i wasn't tempted to stop off at mennies.
So my NSD wasn't. however it was huge fun, lots of steps, lots of good music, a free supper and even a text from DrM (football of course!). Now a cuppa and The Locked Room (Elly Griffiths) which arrived from the library just before I went off on my travels.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
