Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Did some Arabic.
3) Went to the little bookshop for a book and card for my friend's birthday.
4) Went to chess club at 11. Won one and drew one!
5) The surveyor went to the new house. I went with my brother for another sneaky look round. He said he couldn't find much wrong with it and that it had been well maintained. I felt quite positive about it today, particularly standing in the garden. My brother took a photograph. (See below)
6) We went to a quiz in the village hall and our team was third.

1) after a lovely long sleep woke at 8, had a cuppa and a long bath then a very yummy late breakfast then set up our conference booth - looks very smart
2) after lunch I went for a walk - fortunately our hotel is very tall so when i got a bit lost it was easy just to head back with a clear head for some work emails
3) conference started at 4pm with talks then a plenary then a fab reception - made a very good connection with an academic who happens to live not far from DD1 though of course such is the world of academia we'll next meet in Singapore end of May!
4) supper - went for the ham soup and was maybe the best ham soup I have ever had
5) then went for another walk - Quebec is sooo pretty. Tomorrow is a full day of conference

Enjoy Canada DD
The house looks smashing and a decent garden too Frith.
For yesterday,
Changed the bed and moved a few clothes over from spare wardrobe ahead of 🤞warmer weather next week, put away my warm winter coat and washed some scarves.
Not really a pleasure but trip to dentist was routine only with no work needed.
The man came to service our boiler and put a new motor in the heating pump as it had been taking longer & longer to fire up, all done now.
Over to see pony, just a groom in her stable today, chatting to other owners inc one lady whose pony has had laminitis over the last few months, it was touch & go for a while as to her having to say goodbye but looks like kept her mare has turned a corner now.
Tea was a ratatouille, lentil stew type thing with cheesy garlic bread along with a glass of wine then lazy evening chatting & watching tv.7 -
Today is day 13, DD - but today i tested negative 🥳 (still feel rubbish generally however).
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Notwithstanding the above, i did feel brighter and could actually 'think' stuff again
2. dippy egg and sourdough for lunch - couldn't taste a thing but enjoyed the texture
3. started watching 'why didn't they ask evans?'. I first read it decades ago (love me an agatha christie), i will never understand why someone who's been pushed off a cliff would ask that question as their last words and not "It was ***** ******* wot did it"
4. OH cleaned the bathrooms and did the floors
5. was able to do a bit of work.
Have a great day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens9 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Up early and off to Park Run. I have a proper bar code now. I bumped into sons' primary school TA as she was walking around as well. I took the table tennis bats and balls so quite a few chaps had a go at that.
3) Haven't done any Arabic yet (only listening in person!) but will do some just now.
4) My brother had a bonfire on the allotment so we have cleared a lot of that. Technically, I have returned it to the owner but there was a lot of stuff on there so we thought we would tidy up a bit more.
5) Went to the football with smaller son. Our team won 3-0. Despite an abysmal season (at one point, no matches won from December - end of March with no goals in 10 games), if we win/draw the last 2 matches now, we will be in the play offs...
6) Going to phone my school friend just now and watch Casualty later.9 -
Today
1) sunshine for todays walk
2) good coffee
3) choc chip shortbread
4) old black and white films in the afternoon while OH was busy - deleted off some rubbish ones and ones I had seen recently already.
5) having all that I really needworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?9 -

Oh yes to your #5 Newlywed!
For yesterday,
Bit of a lie-in and the pleasures of fresh sheets.
Breakfast then over to see my pony, a pleasant morning spent in the non forecasted sunshine we did some work and then she enjoyed a hay net while I cleaned the tack. My favourite song in the world is Iris, by the Goo goo Dolls and it come on the radio in the barn, I know all the lyrics so was singing along and she put her head over the door to listen so we had a bit of a moment ❤️
As a local Derby our match kicked off at 12.30 and just as I pulled off onto the slip road we scored our first goal, home to listen to 2nd half and blow me if we didn’t score another & go on to win, Woohoo!Made a loaf plus a chocolate fudge cake.
Watched another two episodes of Shetland, we are gradually working our way through from the beginning.8 -
Not been on for a while as a bit of a nothing week as hay fever has been really bad, particularly at the beginning of the week ☹️
Managed 1 swim, took OH to hospital, foot doing well, bone fusing, friend came round for lunch, brunch out with OH. Lots of tv watching and made chicken casserole for 2 nights. Trying to cut down on eating chocolate daily, a habit we’ve got into since OH has been off! He hobbled up to get the papers yesterday and bought chocolate 🍫!
Have a lovely Sunday everyone 😊9 -
Hi everyone.
Back from our jaunt and a fab time was had. Finding it a bit hard today to get back to 'real life' though!
Recent pleasures:
1) Lainey and newlywed reminded me I've got a lovely rusted iron sign that says 'Peace and Plenty'. Hadn't unpacked it since our move but just got it out and will find somewhere for it to go. Says it all really.
2) My hyacinths in a sunny spot in the lounge opened up while we were away and the smell when we walked in last night was glorious.
3) A lovely new anthology of poems, have most of them already in many different books but here they are all in one place for dipping in and out of. A new favourite already.
4) Have a kitchen stocked up with vegetables, salad and fruit so off in a mo to sort some healthy meals, Diet went out of the window while we were away and some fabulous meals were eaten but the scales say it's time to get back on track.
5) May be a pleasure or may not but two burly roof men with sledgehammers have taken most of the orangery roof off this morning, the house is now open to the elements and basically looks like a ruin. Eeek!!!
Keep having to remind myself it's Sunday, I'm all confused - doesn't take much! Enjoy your day.
