5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Hello again.
Lainey - I wasn't stalking you, but glad you are ok, didn't mean to push you into posting if you didn't feel up to it, just noticed you weren't here and was hoping you were ok.
Paulie Herts - hope you have a good phone appointment next week.
HappyCas - glad you are feeling a bit better, there's a lot of it about at the mo.
Feeling a bit 'deflated' but there will be pleasures:
1) Hubby still not well, looked dreadful yesterday and went to bed in the afternoon. He managed to get a cancellation at the surgery this morning and the Dr thinks he has got bronchitis, he's got antibiotics but has to go for a chest x ray tomorrow. Glad he got an appointment so quickly (the pleasure) but concerned (the not pleasure) that he did get an appointment so quickly.
2) Have spent the last couple of days trying to get to the bottom of his pensions. He has no idea what he'd got where and all complicated by the fact that one company he worked for was taken over by others twice, each with a separate pension plan. Trawling back through over 45 years of paperwork has not been a pleasure. However, we are pretty much there now and can start making plans as he is 65 next year. Got some very good advice from my solicitor brother who is very on the ball with his and is a step ahead of us in the pension planning stakes. Good job one of us was organised and financially savvy as he has been a kept man for the last three years since we moved!
3) Shredding defunct paperwork is definitely a pleasure!
4) Been faffing on for days trying to return an order that had come in two separate parcels, one of which didn't have the required returns paperwork in it. Grrr.... came up against a few jobsworths and someone who promised to sort it and then had days off, etc. Anyway it's now sorted. Not having to sit listening to 'muzak' is a big pleasure.
5) It's the weekend. This should make no difference to us at all but somehow, even though we lose track of what day it is during the week, we always feel different when it gets to 5pm on a Friday.
Have a good weekend, all. Try and stay well, or get better, and don't let your paperwork pile up for years and years and years as it will be the very devil to sort out!12 -
Highdays - I hope your husband recovers quickly.
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) The doctor is slowly ruling things out. Had another letter today that a test is clear.
3) Went to a chess club in floody town!
4) Took my brother to collect his car.
5) Bigger son was successful in getting his house!
6) Took brownies to my neighbours to say thank you for sorting my car out for me
7) Had a tiny walk in the forest and bumped into my old driving instructor. I hadn't seen him since 1992.12 -
Good news about bigger son frith
highdays - hope you get to the bottom of hubby#s chest so to speak.
Pleasures recently
1. Nice walk with OH on Tuesday
2. went to the local theatre with OH and DD. A good courtroom drama - DD was the youngest in the audience by about 30 years!
3. started the marking and have made some inroads
4. a walk in the park with a friend
5. then lunch with a different friend
6. washing dried on the line and a feeling of spring in the air.
Have a great evening all.I wanna be in the room where it happens11 -
1 Last night took a turn, I had a rather bad asthma attack, and ended up in hospital for the night, they were amazing with things I didn’t know controlled it, I’m home with steroids, feeling beaten up as my veins don’t give blood. Pleasure that the NHS is still amazing, and that I’m home.
2 DH and I went to bed as everyone was getting up.
3 Leftovers slowly reheated for dinner.
4 Bird feeders topped up.

@Frith - Good to hear about bigger son getting house.9

No worries Highdays
Good news for your eldest Frith.
Sorry you had a rough time with your asthma PK
For yesterday,
Bright but very blustery morning, changed the bed but didn’t dare put the washed sheets on the line as they would have ended up in the field so used the airers instead.
Made a phone call on behalf of Befriending Network.
Was meant to be meeting DSIL in cathedral city for lunch but around 11am I got the familiar wriggly worms in my eyesight that predicts a migraine is on its way so had to cancel and take myself off to bed ☹️Woke up mid afternoon and felt better, had a bowl of soup.
Quiet evening with a little bit of candle meditation.8 -
Oh dear PK, hope you are ok now.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. continual pleasure of washing on the line
2. Put up my birdfeeder i got for christmas - just need the birds to find it.
3. a pleasure of getting on with the marking (getting through it rather than doing it - although there was one rather excellent submission that was a pleasure to read)
4. DD came for an unexpected visit
5. watched a film - Rogue Agent
Have a nice day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
Hello.Up early, fed doggy and then we both dozed off again!Went to garden centre with DD. Had a nice cheese scone and a wander round. Got a few plants. And a few packs of seeds.Cleaned inside of car. Was covered in pollen. So washed down and hoovered.Planted pansies and primroses I’d bought on Tuesday! Then a bit of weeding and snipping. Filled four buckets worth! ( bought a new orange bucket on Tuesday!)
Then took doggy to beach. Was a bit blustery but dry at that point. Tide was well out and he had a good run. Car now full of sand 😆
Had a phone call last night from the insurance company ( I’d put in a HUGE complaint) spoke to very nice chap ( as opposed to the very rubbish ones I’d had to deal with on Tuesday!) I’m still awaiting the refund of my original payment…that has to wait till Monday but I’m also getting some compensation ( and I should jolly well think so!)
Got in touch with fencing chap ( on my mental list for past month!) so he’s coming out tomorrow. And got in touch with chap to do gutters and clean fascia’s so he’s given me a quote and just waiting in a date! Easy! All I had to do was actually action it! Just sometimes it all rather overwhelms when it’s just you to deal with it!9 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son came round in the morning and we went out for a cooked breakfast. A 70 year old man (he told us his age!) sat at the end of our table as the cafe was full. It turned out that he has sold programmes at our football club for 8 years so we knew lots of people in common! We talked to him for ages.
3) Back home and did bits of housework.
4) Went to the football with smaller son. Another poor match and we lost 2-0.
5) I spoke to my school friend on the phone for a couple of hours.10 -
Hope DFV is ok and just having a break. For yesterday,
Bit of a lie-in followed by coffee & croissants.
Blustery but very mild day, bit of time spent in the garden, just tidying really and it was lovely to see buds and flowers all over the place, my daffs should start to come out this week and the forsythia already has a few flowers on it. My DM rescued it for me from a bargain basement stall when I first moved into the cottage and it always reminds me of her, like a lot of things tbh!
To the yard a bit later as wanted to get girlie into the school, she was a little skittish in the wind but on the whole behaved. She had been out without a rug and had obviously had a good roll so there was plenty to do.
My team got three points at home, much needed and 🤞start of a recovery.
Easy tea, greek flat bread with Chicken Caesar salad piled on top, glass of wine as well.10
