Good morning. Don't tell more than half a dozen people, but I think it's stopped raining! Was considering I might need to buy waders yesterday!
Ampersand - happy belated birthday. Many Happy Returns x
Fascia man rained off yesterday so hopefully back to finish off today. It must be so difficult to plan his work schedule.
After much back and forth with prototypes and samples DGD and I have agreed on pattern, size and colour for fingerless gloves. Full steam ahead. Honestly, you'd think it was a wedding dress we're making with all the consultations.
Nearly finished Bury Your Dead ( Louise Penny). Reading faster and faster to get to the end! And because I'm actually reading the series in order it's even better.
Lainey - Needed cushion of protection for Silent Witness last night. Very gory. But at least I know it's not real. I'm much too squeamish to watch real life medical programmes!
DD and partner were coming for tea but they're coming tomorrow now so I'll have to rethink what to have for tea today. Must be some leftovers lurking in the freezer. 😂
Happy Tuesday everyone9 -
Morning!
Today I will do short and sweet pleasures - or at least I'll try!
1) Lovely sunny day after all the rain.
2) Son literally boarding the plane, flight departs 10.20.
3) Fingers crossed we should exchange on mum's property today.
4) The headstone for their plot in the churchyard is in place and lovely.
5) I have the day to myself til school run time and intend to do not a lot.
Wow, very short and sweet!
Have a good day.8 -
for yesterday mse pleasures
1) breakfast was left over veg fried up with an egg
2) lovely lunch, this time added streaky bacon to my poke bowl
3) had a couple of meetings on city campus in the afternoon - the pleasure was catching up with people I haven't seen since before Christmas
4) football at the pub with DrM and MrG (Leicester oh dear) - Principal arrived with a couple of colleagues, one of whom I know one I didn't. I do nowgood talk about a potential project
5) then the Principal cornered DrM and insisted he comes to my Professor talk - DrM will have to move a zoom but says he will. No pressure then!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Happy birthday ampersand 🥳
DD - one of my favourite things, your first pleasure
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Hair cut moved from today to yesterday - gradually the horrid dyed hair is growing out and coming off. Only when it's all gone will i think about what to do with the grey - probably enhance it's silveriness.
2. became the fridge fairy again to DS's delight
3. DS, who had previously said he only needed one key to his - fairly new to him - car, locked said key in the boot. Supermummy managed to get it out (folded the seat forward), but he now realises daddy was right when he said he was getting another key cut.
4. eating out of the freezer (so to speak) - autumn veg casserole, yummy
5. Baked an orange drizzle cake (based on Nigella's clementine cake) as a traybake. It's lish 🤤🧁
Enjoy your day allI wanna be in the room where it happens9 -
DigForVictory said:BoP - what is trying to escape that pie?
Latest from the Bridge!
Note much on, had the giddies last to days so take in it easy. Though I has perfected the mochin sauce for you chineses. Details soon!
Jen sends herI work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!9 -
Frith - fingers crossed on house & what fun to Landy spot, decades on!LaineyT - sorry, I wasn't clear - rummaging through Rightmove, there isn't anything I can afford locally to retire to, so I'll just have to save harder. Pleasure is knowing now, not being (as) shocked at the time.Purple kitten - I got given a bottle of wine and son promptly rehomed it with a mate's parents. Seems 19 Crimes is a "thing" as well as a drink. Samsonite made seriously good kit back in the day - can see it make an excellent tool holder!Kittikins - after all the effort, all the furniture failed to make spec? Darn!mhagster - yikes family admitted to hospital. Lucky lucky guest to take such a goodybag home!ampersand - Happy birthday! 4 weeks of no car <eyescross> - so hoping all is sorted soon.villagelife - a good colleague is a very special pleasure.LaineyT - I have a new goal for the weekend: "embrace my inner sloth"!Happycas - DGD is just making absolutely sure you love her with these gloves...Highdays - since you are i/c the family circus "intend to do not a lot" til school run time is absolutely right.DundeeDoll - sometimes watching a friend get manoeuvred can be a real treat.VJsmum - "fridge fairy" cracks me up every time!BoP - I don't think you stunned the buzzard hard enough. Steady as you go with the giddies! There is a definite pleasure in sprawling under blankets with a hot water bottle. My new linen duvet cover is zip fastened & I am contemplating adding bone buttons & lucet cord (and perhaps eventually unpicking the zip), but first I have to figure where the ten bone buttons should be placed. If this cold really refuses to shift, I may embroider the blinking thing.Oh thank the kindly heavens for tea. I’ve been drinking it by the pint & it certainly feels like it helps with this blasted cold!I am working from home (digital analysis) & miscommunication between brothers meant at one point I had two steaming pints of tea. (This sort of family bickering brings great pleasure!)Lovely Scout Message "Q, P, are you ready for bleeding/burns?" - we're getting Everyone up to stage 3 of the first aid badge.Health strength love & courage to all as have need & may any Scout approaching you with first aid tackle remember to Listen as well as talk to you!9

Oh hello PP was just thinking about you earlier when I was steaming my sprouts 😆😆
Another day of much weather. Mainly the wet kind and certainly very windy!A day of catching up around the house. Trying to declutter. I’m just aware of having unnecessary stuff ( mainly though not wholly belonging to offspring who don’t live here!) and stuff from
mums which was kept quite reactively but I’m now like no I actually don’t need it! And some of the stuff is mum stuff that DD1 wants and will ship over at some point this year.Anyway I cleaned the bathrooms, hoovered upstairs and downstairs berating a hairy dog! If you have a /had a labrador you’ll understand the moulting season!Tidied the top of airing cupboard and filled a bag with bed linen I no longer need. Will drop off at charity shop soon .Put a few things on local FB page for free so one already collected. They particular thing I’d been given for free so didn’t owe me anything and the others I’ve attempted to sell so I’m now just wanting them out!Had a nice cheese and ham toastie for lunch and then dinner was a stew done in slow cooker with mashed potatoes, cabbage and sprouts (real food) and peas. And the tiniest bit of leftover crumble from last night…it was hardly worth leaving…think I’d thought oh I’ll have that when friend left last night but then had to phone auntie.Messaged back and forth with cousin so uncle still in hospital another night. Had called sister this morning to update her.11 -
Pleasures for today
1. Dgs birthday, he loved his present.
2. Work done today - 4 more to go.
3. Busy day so work went by quickly.
4. Lunch was home made soup - Ds2 had 2 bowls full so only 1 portion left which is my lunch tomorrow.
5. In bed ready to sleep now11 -
Lainey - was it the episode of 24 Hours in A and E with the... foot? I'm fortunate to have a cast iron stomach! I did think it might fall off altogether when the patient moved!
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) A slightly better sleep, maybe.
2) Pottered around. Smaller son's new mobile phone arrived. His existing one was cracked and the camera broken when he fell over with it in his pocket - on Christmas Eve 2019!! So he was due an upgrade. He is very pleased.
3) Went to Waitrose. As I got to the checkout, I bumped into another mother from my sons' primary school. It has been 11 years since they went there (so that long since I saw this lady). I had and still have no idea of her name but we ended up chatting for about half an hour!
4) A lovely parcel arrived.
5) One of the footballers who plays for our team messaged me and has sorted out some more clothing for the men.
6) Bigger son came back in time for tea and had seen some of those cans of Prime (?) in a random little shop. He knew smaller son was interested in the hype surrounding them so had bought them both one!
7) I think I have worked out why I am so out of breath when doing anything and why I am tired and my ears have even worse tinnitus than normal. Got some multi vitamins with lots of iron while I was out, so I shall assess in a week or two if I was a bit anaemic. Someone at the hotel said women shouldn't drink too much tea and I nearly scoffed at that but then he said, "as they can get anaemic" and it started me thinking.
8) Cooked meatballs for tea with the tomato sauce I made yesterday. While the oven was on, I also roasted a butternut squash that my brother grew (don't know what recipe I shall make with it yet) and roasted some chicken fillets so we can have chicken tikka sandwiches tomorrow. I am upping the levels of red/white meat in my diet!
9) Just had an email from the cinema that the flood warnings have started (the Teme - the Severn is already flooded) so I shall meet people there at 10 tomorrow to move the first few rows of seats out of the way. That is all you can do there really.
10) About to watch Ambulance.10 -
