fab news suffolksue
and why not dfv, I have always had a Christmas stocking and see no reason to give up now
have had man flu so feeling rather m'eh. so missed the Uni carols at the cathedral yesterday.
1) yesterday had a pyjama day lying on the sofa and watched the whole of The English - very good
2) slept the best I've slept for nearly a week last night so worst of the man flu i think is over
3) caught the bus into ninewells - met a surgeon going to a week of training in our surgical skills centre so was able to advise him on how to get there
4) then a full day of strategy meeting - went very well, a good constructive meeting with honest discussion of our challenges
5) then home on the bus - the surgeon caught the same bus as did a colleague from my team - i was able to catch him up on my latest plans and he is very excited
and now i'm home, my tree is decorated, my candles are lit, i am sneezing like a trouper and will soon be to bed!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son had a decent day at work, despite his cold.
3) Smaller son has ordered me a Christmas present! I think that might be a first.
4) Pottered around during the morning. Will definitely have a last tidy tomorrow and finally put the Christmas decorations up.
5) Went to the library.
6) Went to the English lesson. A new mix of people today and one who spoke a language that no one else speaks. I could see on my phone (Google translate) that my typing was coming out in the Arabic alphabet but then I could only read the letters and not the words!
7) Went to Costa afterwards for a cup of tea and a mince pie.
8) Went to Sainsburys for the traditional new Christmas Eve pyjamas. They had no sets with shorts (always favoured in this house) so I have had to order them from Marks and Spencers. It is strange to have gone from ordering toddler size right up to ordering one large and one extra large pair.
9) Did some DuoLingo.
10) In bed now with 2 hwb and will watch tv for a while.8 -
Good morning!Well Monday done and dusted. I only have 1.5 shifts to work and then off for 3 weeks the way Christmas/NY fall on my working days this year ( yaaaas😆)
A better start to the day with the luxury of heat and hot water…remembered to take kettle back downstairs 😆
But the sighing of defrost/ scrape/demisting times three. Ordinarily I would just have walked but I need to nip home and see to dog mid morning and don’t have enough time to walk. Anyway it’s done for another week.
Good company. Chatter. Laughter. A toasted bacon sandwich. And decent tips. Made for a good work day.Home. Hello doggy. I know, I missed you too but that’s it done.Santa and his volunteer helpers came round. Raising money for local charity. I love it. It still enthralls me as an adult as much as it did as a child. Makes me slightly emotional. And I got an extra wave from Santa when they were on their way back down our estate and I was just standing quietly at my porch window.Aching hips. Aching shoulders. Not a pleasure at all but some cream seemed to help it ease.Chat to friend.Have a lovely day. We have vets this morning, so I will need to defrost car. For follow up bloods. He ate an eco-log. I’d bought for the fire as I was low on real logs. However real logs coming on Thursday! They were made from grape seed. Grapes are highly toxic to dogs ( and their mothers bank balance) I’ve emailed the company to let them know.9 -
oh Haggis !!!8

Ha, yes the partridges belong in a pear tree.Poor Haggis, hope the bloods show all is now ok.
For yesterday,
Cold, cold, cold, trip into horsey town for a food shop and didn’t see any strings (racehorses) out so presume too slippery.
Lunch was veg soup with added pearl barley, I’m trying to eat 30 different plant foods a week and this was a good 3.
Over to see pony, she had also been in today and seemed a bit fed up, a good groom, carrot stretches and a fuss from her Mum seemed to help.
Driving home and a small herd of deer stood on a snowy hill, just like a xmas card.
My hibernation mode continues and staying up beyond 9.30 is proving tricky, a good episode of Strike helped.

Not easy today. Going nowhere, not even outside to play at &🚙mechanicking - post passim. Much snow still lying, now banked up to &'s back farm borders.
1. Good exchange of grumble-compares😁 with oldest Northern hemisphere uni friend. Shower packed up chez elle. 3 weeks and 2 replacements, both failures. No-one knows what next.
2. & needs milk, all citrus, bread-y bits, but can't go anywhere yet. Lateral and magic thinking alternatives are working so far.😇🤩
3. DigForVictory, saw this one and wondered if you could help? Poster is Valiant24 -
'Electricity for a Scout Hut'.
4. A very confident - more likely hungry and desperate - Great Tit cheeped at & earlier, clinging to kitchen fanlight edge just 30cm away. Food is hanging very close.
5. Have much good healthy food and choices, despite gaps arising. Warm feet, taps still flow, cricket on radio, any amount of reading, moth-y mending to do🤬, last rugby Preview of 2022 to sort and write (Raffle Harridan's report DONE 😇)...
Might do some, might do none.
Not even sure what cricket I'm hearing - Stars v Thunder?
Suddenly 2 amazing catches and a clean-bowled leaves Thunder needing 7 from 3 balls to win......which they do on the last one! Several kiwis playing, of course.😁

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Snow is hanging round here but nowhere else (we are very high up). Not enough to be a nuisance so it just looks festive.
3) Did various bits round the house.
4) Went to Waitrose and finally started Christmas shopping in earnest! Some nice notepads bought from there. Had a cup of tea in the cafe and practised the Arabic alphabet.
5) Also picked up bigger son's present.
6) Made a shepherd's pie.
Really must put the decorations up tomorrow and start posting things out!6 -
oh haggis oh mhags
1) worked at home today - still full of cold but managed to crawl through the day and lucky i could indeed work at home
2) lunch was an egg and fried left over veg on toast yum and mum cooked a lish chilli for tea
3) not well enough to go to the pub, watched the match with dd2 (her boyfriend might have managed to get tickets for twickers for the Calcutta cup, she's a rugby girl but will watch footie with her old mum)
4) haven't watched East-enders for years but caught up on Dot's funeral for old times sake - omg Mary and Colin and Kathy and Iain and Lofty - quite a trip down memory lane (and reminded me of my aunt's funeral, 2 black horses pulling a carriage)
5) and mum had bought some tea cakes - the ones you toast - so just had oneMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

4. Managed to get to works meal out in London - slightly late
5. Birthday wishes from family & friends yesterday.
6. Post turned up with some cards.
7. Engineer from gas/electricity company turned up on time, meant to have linked all the meters but still only electric showing. Said if any problems to ring - a job for tomorrow
