Oh PK, I'm so sorry that they took precious things, as well as your peace of mind, hopefully temporarily.
I was lucky when it happened to me, it was just things, and all was replaced, eventually.
I hope karma catches them, if the police don't.

Lainey, I'm glad your girl just went to sleep, and is at peace without any pain or distress. I'm also glad she got the very best care right to the end, and that you were prepared to do all for her, how lucky Rosie was.

    1. The kindness of my cleaners who happily stepped outside the box to do a task for me. A large commercial firm would no doubt have muttered about not being allowed, or covered by insurance, etc., etc.

    2. Chats on phone with Dr C. sis and friends.

    3. The pleasure of a good book started, that I will return to.

    4. Lots of work to do. This time last year, I had very little, and it was a very uncertain, unsettling period.

    5. Your pleasures, and also, the comfort of knowing that this is a place where we can share troubles as well as joys. That's something quite special.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    Quick pleasures for today:

    1) Sons off to school/college happily (after a tasty scrambled egg and smoked salmon breakfast) then I went back to bed for a very rare snooze.

    2) Did odd jobs during the morning.

    3) Walked to the hens when it rained torrentially and was picked up by the allotment/farm owner in her car! Sat in her house for a while with a cup of tea and watched a large fox working its way along the fenceline, too close to the hens for my liking.

    4) Smaller son made profiteroles at school which were amazing.

    5) Bigger son has gone to games night with my brother and brother in law.

    6) Have been watching Hunted.

PK and Lainey Sorry to hear your news.

    Recently

    1. Celebrated with Proseccco......DD off on hols, DD got a contract for summer season performing in Greece again, DS2 has got his Marine Cadet Beret........ Some good news at last.

    2. DD has landed safely in Peru.

    3. School performance of Christmas show. (Was postponed cos music teacher was ill). Had to find Xmas jumper again! Very funny and songs were very jolly. Students were very cute. :rotfl:

    4. Had some good rtc bargains in Mr A.......we are well stocked with doggie food and crisps!

    5. New quilt is now on my bed, and very warm. It stops the draft on my side of the bed. (We can’t find where it comes from). Seem to be sleeping better, although awake at 5am this morning!

    Have a lovely day.:)

Lainey so sorry to hear about Rosie. She is at peace now.

    1. Remembered lunch for work and went by bus so saving money. I am determined to retire early so every pound saved its being out into a savings account.

    2. Worked in a new to me location and staff seemed friendly. I will be there once a week so pleased it went well.

    3. My road wasn't closed. I took the risk of going up it from the bus but it just got very narrow at a couple of points due to cones.
Potholes are being repaired. I'm sure they will reappear in a couple of months. The streams that want to appear in the middle of the road needs to be sorted out first i think.

    4. DS2 rugby coach. He told DS2 he couldn't post Saturday with his finger. DS2 is still going to watch and take his kit with him.

    5. Death in Paradise.

Sigh....whilst I wait for young people to get ready! We are on a tight schedule this morning but no sense of hurrying up!

Yesterday was of course Burns Day and we had a nice day celebrating and talking in rhyme.

Popped out with more tablet for a friend.

Went to Tesco and very carefully went round with a mental tally of what I was spending as I had a £6 off £40 spend courtesy of my mums club card vouchers..she wouldn't spend that much there she said...oh well I could so she kindly gave me them. Got to till and somehow after discounts it was only £36 so quick dash to dog food aisle! Sorted.

Lovely roll and slice for lunch.

A little window of peace and quiet as everyone was out...even the dog!

Visitors arrived from Australia via London.

Then niece, husband and great niece arrived .

We had a delicious tea...even if I say so myself! To start potato peelings sprayed with oil and baked in oven ( why have I never done this before?) served with sour cream, haggis pakora and veg pakora. Then Haggis, neeps and tattles. Now I have always said I don't like haggis but I tried this one and it was quiet nice...couldn't eat a plateful though. I had corned beef hash instead.

Then my pudding creation. Mini pavlovas filled with marscapone and cream on a bed of toasted oats and some raspberries and tablet and some caramel sauce. All made by me and just so tasty! Kids had pancakes for their breakfast with the egg yolks. A bit of a cranachan pav fusion.

Much laughter and good recitations! Even the 6 year old did her piece...think our Aussies enjoyed but I did say we don't normally have a 3 course tea on a Thursday!

Just heading out to beach now cos it's Australia Day !
  • I will get more!

5 FryDay and that means we can damp the fires down in the boiler room and be out of here with a care not attitude later!

4 Was at the club camera last evening and I did need a wobbleade as well. Good show and as I now run it from the back, even better!

3 At mill, offs to see new cotton supplier on Tuesday! Think money bag and pension! Usual rules! Got it?

    I will be gloating tomorrow
  • 1) A lovely walk in the sunshine this morning as we're due rain most of the afternoon, it was really nice outside too!

    2) A rich seam of YS purchases from the local shops including Co-Op finest vine tomatoes for 50p and 3 x 8 packs of dark chocolate Kit-Kats also at 50p a pack, also florette crispy salad for 50p, crumpets for 68p and large American style pancakes for 50p too, we'll eat well this weekend.

    3) Have found 6 houses for sale that meet my spec and in a price range we can afford, compromise is they're a little way out of my preferred area but will be worth looking at.

    4) He Who Knows has rejected one of our wood store 'cradles' as it's gone out of shape and is pretty old however the plus side is he's dismantled it, dried out the wood and is off to chop it all up for second stage kindling.

    5) Fab film yesterday afternoon 'The Post' is well worth a viewing and Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks were both superb.
