DFV long story but he’s an ex racer and struggles at times with so much turnout due to habits formed when youngster.
All change then Frith!
For yesterday,
Busy morning with chores, early start with bread proved and baked by 9am.
Postie came with parcel of SH books and a sleeveless linen top from e*bay, pleased with both.
We were the prawn sandwich brigade for lunch.
We are now of the habit of sitting in the garden around 5 for an hour, the table and chairs are in the shade of the cottage so nice to be outside plus we are next to the buddleia and honeysuckles so get to see loads of pollinators. See below
Chilli chicken kebabs for tea, followed with blueberries and mango sorbet. Then unusually for us a full evening of tele, first Ethel & Ernest followed by a new series of Shetland.
Same as & we have regular visits from Hummingbird Hawk moths, with a wing beat of 80 per second they are quite hard to capture in still photo but did try,8 -
Good morning from the caravan. We were going to go home today but the weather has persuaded us to stay.!! D D's advice - stay until it rains. Or you run out of clean pants!. We raised her well!I
D Doll - he's a strange one, Dr M! But there's so much going on in your life just now you can forget him for a while. Might do him good!😂
Frith - both sons having epiphanies! The planets must be in alignment.
Ampersand - I reckon if we put you and Mhagster in charge, the world would be a better place. And a lot more would get done.
DfV - so sorry to hear about further upsets, but glad the family sense of humour survives. Hugs to all of you x
Not much to report but it's all good. Sun, sea, walks, good food. Meeting up with friends and sitting in beer gardens or cafes overlooking a sparkling sea. Love it.
Sonic boom yesterday made us jump, spooked the seagulls and rattled the caravan. Your lot 's fault, Admiral.
Might walk to the lighthouse today. Not been this year so need to check up on it. And the sunbathing seals.
Happy 🌞 days everyone9 -
Hello again.Endless blue skies here again today, this is becoming a way of life!DD - can I just second the vote of Poo Bums to Dr M.DfV - there is definitely comfort to be gained in being able to carry out a loved one's wishes, so lovely that you will be able to do that for your dad.Recent pleasures:1) Took smallest grandson to the gardens of a stately home yesterday. Interesting to see a 'film village' in action, lots of big Warner Bros trucks, catering trucks, big caravans for sleeping, even their own fire engine. All top-secret but we were told whatever it is will be coming out just before Christmas on Netflix, not The Crown and not Bridgerton. We also enjoyed Roly Poly Hill - I have never seen DH roll down a hill before, obviously re-living his childhood. Picnic in the shade in thoughtfully provided deckchairs then games on the lawn with ice cream. Lovely!2) The celebrant who did my dad's funeral last October is available to do Mum's on the 22nd. She was wonderful, everything was perfect so I am confident we are in safe hands. Meeting her next Tuesday with my sister, the funeral is the following Monday. The pleasure is that this is exactly what mum wanted, we all found dad's funeral a massive comfort and she wanted that for us with hers too.3) I had been vaguely thinking that we need a holiday, just the two of us. We haven't been away on our own for over eight years now and I am deeply tired. We still have all the sorting of the house to do, my brothers are on with probate and such, but I can't see why we can't grab a few days in September. Trouble is I jut didn't seem to have the mental energy to think of where to go, trawl through stuff, etc. My son popped in last night to tell me about a break he had been reading about to Lake Como that sounded just perfect, he will investigate further. We have given him instructions to 'just sort it'!!!4) Lovely easy meals continue, smoked mackerel and prawn salad tonight with a creme fraiche, lemon and chive dressing. Cool and refreshing, quick and easy. Hopefully will eat in the shade in the garden.5) Off to a garden centre this afternoon, it is in the walled garden of the house we visited yesterday, little fella was intrigued at the sound of the 'bear pit' so we are going to have a look at that, then to the playground for swings and slides (upper age limit doesn't allow hubby to have a go this time!). They do wonderful homemade cakes, it might be very rude not to....Hope you all enjoy the sunny day.9

Please can I join in? I really need to keep an eye on the little decisions as they are adding up at the minute. Today's plan involves taking the train to Birmingham to take my two kids to sea life and legoland. We have passes so free day spends just the train. I've brought lots of water and have the refill app to refill throughout the day. Also brought ice cream in an elephant box thermos and comes so fingers crossed the ice cream isn't mush when we get to it9

@Highdays - ooo, Lake Como! We went about 5 years ago (by train, with a budget of about 50p!) We really liked it there and went by funicular to Brunate where you can stand at Volta's lighthouse and see the Alps in 3 different countries.
We only went for a day/overnight as we wanted to go to 4 different countries.7 -

Hello. Bedtime. Still hot here by Scottish standards!Up early and out with the doggy.Did a bit of gardening this morning around 6am whilst it was cool. Weeded and pruned.
Nice chat to DD1.Work. Second last shift. Hurrah! One to go.
Picked up my mums ashes.Went to estate agent ( left mum in the car 🫤) had to get ID etc checked.A quick nip into M&S then a charity shop buy of a fat face top.Home. Hello doggy.Round to mums , finished the slabs, all 121 of them! Had the last 12 to do!Back home and may have reclined on sofa.
Then doggy and I went back round later. Was letting the pressure hose dry off ( covered in mud) before it went back in the car.
Went through a box of stuff, found a pile of old letters. What a laugh!Decorator chap came, to give me a quote. Everywhere needs freshened up.10 -
1 Back from the wonderful Wales Caravan, amazing time, and mainly off grid, no TV but we did get phone signal admittedly. We watched the stars, took photo’s playing with our cameras of the moon, and heard owls. We walked along the tide of the estuary and found the dog fish we always see hunting along the shoreline.
2 Spending the nights listening to the curlew calls and critters and literally feeling the mind wind down away from news and media etc.
3 I saw a water vole, while picking brambles.
4 For me – I look tanned to other people, I look slightly less anaemic than usual.
5 We went away with 9 ferrets, and for a change, we came back with 11! Rather than less, we welcome, Rhubarb and Custard to the clan, gorgeous albino boys that no one wanted as I quote “they look evil”. The best temperaments and touch wood so far amazingly litter trained.
About to catch up on missed posts.

Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Bigger son popped round just before 9.
2) We dismantled the shed and put the pieces of it on the allotment. My brother came to help and brother in law came in his car (roof rack) to do the transporting down the lane. This took about 4 hours in the heat. It has given us much more room in the garden. Borrowed a crow bar from my neighbour so gave her some firewood in return.
3) Bigger son and I then went out for a late breakfast.
4) Changed one bunkbed and got some washing done.
5) Made smaller son's linguine recipe for tea.
6) Went on a bat survey with my brother and stopped on the Downs on the way home to watch the meteorites. Saw 4 very good ones this evening. They are slightly obscured by the nearly full moon.7
