Hello.Up at very silly o'clock, very quick doggy walk and then in to work for an hour.Did a bit of gardening when I came in, a bit of pruning and weeding and emptying of pots and moving things around to squeeze in a new bird bath! Then round to mums.House almost emptied. Update on declutter thread. It’s either in the garage or in my hallway! So I need to go and move stuff before it annoys me.Went to favourite place for breakfast. DD2 had an odd experience with her pancakes she’d ordered. They appeared to have a number (27) ‘written’ on one of them. So she ate the rest and then meal was refunded! Cheap date!
Home and then back round to mums to pressure hose her patio which I don’t think has been touched in ever. Did about a fifth of it. I was absolutely filthy! Home and had a shower and jammies on! Update on declutter thread.
And now just having snuggles with my doggy. He is just the best at snuggles.Bought some sunflowers so need to go and put them in a vase.9 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Got the house tidy.
3) Bigger son and his girlfriend came round. We found the cheapest ferry tickets, health insurance etc and sent off for a GHIC card. They will be going to Europe for 90 days, setting off at the start of September. They were very excited when it was all done and paid for. There is always a question that is impossible to answer when doing paperwork. Today's was - how long exactly is your Transit van? They will be starting in France and bigger son wants to go to Belgium (not sure why) but will probably do as many countries as possible.
4) After they had gone, I went to the allotment and cleared as much rubbish as I could into my car. There was the drum of an old washing machine (we thought we would make it into a firepit type thing, but never did), broken panes from the greenhouse etc. Took it all to the skips.
5) Our local football team won their match, We didn't go as Blyth is just too far. When our team supporters got back to their coach, a Blyth supporter had wrecked it and smashed a window! They had to wait 4.5 hours for a replacement coach but it looks like they had quite a good time, sitting in the sun outside, being treated to drinks by Blyth's chairman.
6) Will go to my brother's later to look for meteorites.8 -
For yesterday,
Bit of a lie-in followed by croissant and coffee.
Over to the yard, the Saturday girls smiled as I walked into the barn as apparently they had just seen my mare doing her best hippo impression, rolling in the dust. Guess that’s my first job then, who would buy a grey ☺️Stopped off at the community allotment on the way home and picked up some potatoes, met a gorgeous rough haired dachshund who was helping her Mum choose veggies.
Lazy afternoon, listened to footie but unfortunately we lost in the last minute of the game, sat outside and read my book.
Evening walk with beloved & small dog, tea was BS and chick pea curry, no rice or naan but instead we had some garlic bread out of the freezer that needed using up.6 -

Hello again.A lovely sunny day here with white, fluffy clouds.Today's pleasures:1) My brother gave me a big bag of plums, 8 jars of homemade plum jam and a dozen fresh farm eggs. Love free food!2) DH's eyes lit up when I told him there would be plum crumble for tea. Since I have been on my diet, puds have been few and far between so a real treat for him.3) No crumble for me, the pleasure being I have lost another pound making 50lb off so far this year. It's been tough but now starting to show so feeling motivated to continue. In 4 pounds time I will have lost the equivalent of my 7 year old grandson and I certainly couldn't carry him around constantly, I can barely lift him up!4) The lovely man at our local garden centre looked at my photos and listened patiently to my not very expert description and identified the climbing roses in my mum's garden as David Austin Zephirine Drouhin. DH is currently painting my summerhouse and will put up some trellis so I can grow one, not a massive fan of roses but this is a glorious pink, smells beautiful and flowers for a long time each year. I am no gardener but will have a go.5) I can't seem to settle to very much at the moment and can't concentrate on anything for very long. The pleasure here is that we now have a couple of quiet days at home to rest and regroup and to let things settle into place a bit.Enjoy the rest of your SundayHx10

Overdue catch-up of sorts, matches & life more and more.
Dfv - I'm so sorry about maman-i.l. and papa now.
#
1. A few more beans, 3 varieties, picked. First 2 figs - about 300 coming on. Grey watering is standard now. Plants don't mind - toms, pots, walnuts, blueberries, pears, apples, grapes galore, peppers, courgette, tiny new leeks, strawberries, rasps' now 2nd flowering. Aubergines this year - 100% failure.
2. 1st pre-season match yesterday. We🦚47-Rochford 100s 36. V.interesting, played as 4x20min qtrs, in 32⁰ temp, so wise. Over 30 players used as DoR put newbies, ex-Colts now Seniors, 2nd+3rd XV returners through their 1st time ever together paces, all wanting to impress, earn, justify Senior Squad places. It was terrific. Some youngsters and old hands - and a new ex-gridiron American - absolutely lit up the pitch. & ended up being entire volunteer force in kitchen as comms breakdown meant no staff, no helpers, nothing had been timed, prepared, thought through. All sorted eventually, with 50 very hungry fellas very appreciative of big chilli and pasta. Then long, lovely, slow, companionable sundowner hours outside, with a player's tiny 6wk girl and boy twins happily passed around to many, including 1st XV. & said Cuddle Time as 1st Prize in next Raffle would be major moneyspinner.😇 Just a beautiful day with everything fine about the Peacock 🦚 family Community ethos much in evidence.
Of course, we did not and do not mention the dire ABs' result with the long known, predictable trail of pathetically useless Foster.😈...and Cane is simply not, never was, Captaincy material.🤬
Better stop there, &.
3. Made it to birthday party in The Alma, c.22h. Lovely to catch up with other young rugby/scientist friends, whose wedding is in several weeks' time, so & must excuse herself from Raffle Harridan-ing that home match day. 'Phew!', will be the relief reaction of all.😁....well, maybe not the Committee.
3. Flutters and tweeting between the long-tailed tit gang. A dozen or so are back, as they, rush to mob various feeding stations, do aerobatics in &'s far trees. Sounds grandiose but only 10ish metres away.
4. Lovely leftovers +salads in abundance recently.
5. Doesn't match your marvellous birdie bath find, mhags, - that's just fabulous!👍😃 - but have scrubbed an abandoned rectangular blue painted basket as a perfect container for raffle prize assemblage.

Hello
The big worky day number one is done. One more to go though it’s an early start as order after order kept coming in for catering.A couple of methods in madness today! Hung out a washing overnight as it’s was to rain today so when I brought it in early this morning it was almost dry so hung it on clothes horse to finish off. And oh how it’s rained today! Then after work went straight to mums to do another bit of power washing patio as I was already hot and sweaty and in need of a shower thought I may as well get wet and dirty too! So another two rows done. Could see the difference from what I did yesterday.Last night I’d hoovered upstairs and downstairs and washed floors.
I brought round mums vintage scales yesterday. You know the old kind that you put a weight on to balance. She had had them probably about 40 years. Anyway they were very well used and a tad grubby so they had a very good scrub and cleaned up very nicely. Made a paste of flour, salt and white vinegar to clean the brass bowl. Left it on a while and it cleaned up nicely. Didn’t want to use chemicals as I will be using them for food. My dad had made little wooden bases for the weights to sit in with appropriate sized spaces for them so I may paint them as they are looking very grubby.
Found out I won’t have to do too much for second job this week. Will be finished by mid morning! Oh the joy I felt when I heard that😆 This is the last week. And hello doggy. Yes I’ve missed you too but you’ve had company much of the day!10 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) A lie in.
2) Made a nice prawn and salad sandwich for lunch.
3) Spent the afternoon in local Art Deco cinema being the projectionist. I am going to re-write the instructions list as it is verbose but strangely not enough words to tell you exactly what to do. (2 sides of A4 to work 3 huge banks of equipment).
4) Sat and watched the Elvis film once it was up and running.
5) Went to a quick meeting afterwards as there are now 2 weeks of cleaning and DIY at the cinema so I shall pop in when I can.
6) Smaller son and I went out and got chips for tea. We walked over to the Severn and it is so shallow that Canada geese were walking across.
7) Going on a dawn bat survey with my brother so he can work and I can sit on a deckchair and watch meteorites on the border (dark skies here but probably even darker there).11 -
For yesterday,
Up early so a wander around the garden with the first cuppa of the day.
Took some photos and listed a few items on e*bay.
Laughing to ISIHAC.
Roast chicken lunch followed by a couple of hours reading in the garden, sat in the shade as the sun was hot and where I go, small dog follows.
A new series of Van der Valk and a cheeky rum & coke.
