5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Morning all - been awol so only skimmed somewhat
DforV - goodness, me. How much more do you have to withstand? strength to you... re festival packing, many would put the drink first! Tho not i, although i like a tipple as you know, I don't drink much at festivals. I think the wellies might be redundant this time. Loo roll is a useful addition as is a water bottle (as in refillable, not hot).
Pleasures recently
1. perpetual pleasure of washing drying on the line
2. i know it's not right, i know we shouldn't be having it, but my goodness i do love the continuous warm sunshine.
3. Festival and then holiday planning (and telling my line manager that i'm going to be fairly uncontactable for 6 weeks!). Including buying an air frame awning for my little camper car so i can put it up by myself.
4. Marking nearly done.
5. house is clean and tidy again - for a while.
6. MiL's CAT scan went ok. I got brownie points for going with her and being on 'personal care' standby. The real pleasure is that i got the brownie points but didn't actually have to do the care. Results next week - which might dictate whether the holidays actually happen
Have a great day all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens11 -
1. Nearby village worship yesterday arvo. Part of benefice. Monthly only, but always a feelgood lift. Fabulous⭐⭐⭐coffee afterwards, exceptional + lovely cakes, biccies and savouries.
2. Horror was front passenger window refusing to close. Had to be left open all night, a big worry. Lucky crossing of paths meant & followed X to his mechanic saint, out of hours. X's intro meant young man spent 1½hrs on a strong temp. fix. Refused payment! But & had latest marmalade on board - h-m Satsuma and Lemon - and that, plus &'s insistent £s, delighted him.
3. 300 leftover - several growing blue spots - bread rolls fed to feathered allsorts at river. Rugby Club said 'chuck away', but swans, ducks, coots, magpies, crows, terns and others were very pleased. & shared them with other visitors and taught 5 young boys fishing how to do bread pellets. To think they didn't know!
4. So, Miss K H-P. As it's your day, this comes from Brian Bilston:

5. Orchid's blooming again, with more coming.

Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Up at 2.45 (I hadn't actually fallen asleep!) to go with my brother on a dawn bat survey. I didn't see any meteorites, despite lying on a deckchair in my sleeping bag for an hour. Then it was a very cold, grey dawn so I walked around the site he was surveying (empty) and picked some figs from an enormous tree. I'm not sure if they will finish ripening on a windowsill. Much bigger than the figs I get from Sainsburys. Walked into the next village at 5.30am to look at a massive flood defence thingy and to try and see an otter.
2) Got home and went to bed just after 7 and slept until 11am.
3) The cinema have asked me to be projectionist later in the month for one of the shows that is live elsewhere but we have a satellite link to our screen. (Often operas but this is a different concert). Agreed to that.
4) I haven't heard anything from the museum I am mentoring and had an email from the regional museum lady asking if I would like to change as she has a few other museums looking for advice. (We had discussed this before). So I've said yes to that and will see if she has anywhere interesting that needs a mentor.
5) My Marcus Rashford holiday vouchers arrived so I have chosen Aldi as my shop. Our council is better than some. From what I have gathered, central government hasn't actually given councils any money to run the scheme.... all councils in England have been unable to afford 6 weeks x £15. Some are running holiday clubs (which smaller son wouldn't be able to go to) but ours is giving everyone 2 x £15. I said to my brother that it is something else that the government have spoiled but they are dreadful and incompetent in so many ways that this too will not be noticed or picked up by the media.
6) Cooked some YS posh chicken for tea with noodles and peppers.
7) Hot again today so watered the tomatoes and pots.
8) Smaller son agreed that I could measure his feet (with a tape measure) which he has refused for months. Now we know the size he can order some new trainers.
9) Housework done and the washing is on the line. I'm starving today, which I can only think is from being awake for so long!10 -
Oh well past my bedtime!Up early and in to work early. Met my friend who also works early nearby my work so had a quick chatter with her.Lordy! What a busy day! It was crazy. Out later than usual as so much still to do. However excellent tips ( which doesn’t always go together with a busy day but nice when it does!)Came home mid morning to see doggy. We’d had a 10 minute walk first thing…that’s 5 minutes more than we’ve been having! He sniffed for about 7 minutes of it😆
Went round to mums after work. Update on declutter thread.Popped next door to see NDN for 5 minutes but was there blethering for about an hour and half! Then home and phoned friend for an hour and a half!11 -
For yesterday,
Early out to the shops, had a voucher for 10% off a spend and so had made a careful list of store cupboard and freezer items, came in at 19p over required spend, pleasure of a good stock up.
Busy day of chores and errands, ticking them off my list.
Tasty tea of baked mackerel and stir fry veg.
Long chat with my DB, looks like a family picnic is arranged for the end of the month.
Reading in bed and just about to turn out the light when dive-bombed by the biggest moth, pleasure was managing to get a glass over it and setting it free, twas a whopper!11 -
Oh Bovver. Jen does one for D4V
Brownie points. Does that meen a star for the copy buck!
Don't knew why, butt & window minded me of the knotted handkerchief on the bonce!Universal Declaration of Feline RightsMum Declutter!Baked Mackerel Steer Fry. Proper Food!Presented as is!
Well we did has the pawn poodles last nite for dinner. Chopped mushrooms and slice onion inn pan, steered. added washed raw prawns and then tossed over sum sliced peppers. Added sweet chilli source. Topped with pan fresh poodles and served. Damn tasty. Then sum straws as well! Must try the mackerel one noted above!
Sat and watched the 100 cricket, and as suggested by D4V we has the fizzy fruit waters and sum cheeses!
Up early too sea off the Albatross two her work with another fill packed lunch box. She has readies in case she needs an ice cream later! Brekefest was golden flakes of corn in ice milk!
Now sat with me mug of tee watching an explosion on the twitsphere over washed spaghetti whoops! Two think that a pack of spaghetti is about 30 pennies inn the discount surplus store, yet sum one is on about rinsing spaghetti hoops for a meal. No sorry I get it, if I give it some fancy name, people will think its a special! Special food, see above. if I was strapped, I would leaf out the prawns. Maybe is me? I wonder if these that has washed the spaghetti hoops then gave £20 because sum millionaire sportsperson told them two do so! Sorry has to rant about that! I is sure my pawn poodles were a darn site tastier than the washed spaghetti!
Rant over!
Jen sends her
On twitsphere, a troll has followed me! Unfortunately, their language means they cannot string to words together without use of an expletive!
I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!11 -
Good morning. It's going to be a hot one!Not had the best couple of days but there are pleasures to be found:1) Didn't sleep last night so watched dawn breaking, the sky was beautiful, the palest blue with blush-coloured clouds.2) Although I'm not sleeping, my bed is always a pleasure. Took me years to get it 'just right' and now it is, so comfortable and a quiet haven at the end of a day.3) Had time to do some neglected 'me' stuff, long overdue, I am exfoliated, scrubbed, manicured and buffed and looking and feeling a bit better for it!4) Nice easy meals, too hot for cooking so salads with tasty additions fit the bill nicely.5) Chatting to my eldest grandson, he is growing up fast but is a pleasure to be with, kind with a wicked sense of humour.12

Morning all - pleasures for yesterday
1. OH, SiL, niece and nephew set off for a pilgrimmage to the spot where BiL died over 10 years ago. The children (who were 8 and 6 when he died 😥) had never wanted to go before. We went through a sequence of events leading up to his death (by suicide) the night before. I think they got quite a lot out of the day - as did OH. They did some fun stuff afterwards
2. Nearly all the marking done (now finished) 🎉🥳
3. fitted the window cupboard in the car - all by myself, ready for Boomtown tomorrow.
4. a walk round to the local shop in the warm sunshine
5. cooked a GF quiche for tea - well, in fact two. One was veggie and one traditional. Was very welcomed when they got back from their day out and was well received by all. Even DS who usually turns his nose up at food like that..
have a great day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens9 -
Bouncing by for a quick update - have read all your posts - sorry to read about your MiL and Dad DfV
Wonderful wedding photos Paulie love the wedding cake
Difficult time for you all VJsmum
We haven't contacted DD1 this week as she has friends staying Wed to Wed and we're assuming no news is good news. She meets the consultant for the first time 15th so am waiting with eagerness and nervousness in equal measure. We are though being kept busy with house tetris with boxes of stuff. For the weekend which was very busy but productive
1) Friday night the premiership return hooray - watched the first match with Dr M but IM had told him i liked him and he had replied i wasn't his type ( he's definitely courier and i guess i'm just too comic sans,) - i am very happy that despite that we are still very good friends - indeed the next time I bumped into him while i was walking the dogs he seemed even friendlier than usual so maybe he's also pleased no awkwardness has ensued. slightly sad but too much else going on in life to agree to IM's suggestion of online dating!
2) Saturday morning haircuts for me and DD2, same wonderful hairdresser - then a coffee with Dr M - another friend arrived then DD2 after her haircut so more coffee and chat then we had to go cos in the afternoon
3) dd2 drove up to Aberdeen to fetch the other half of ds's stuff - now in my music room - there wasn't too much but will be glad when the BHF uplift 2 large bits of furniture from that room (and a dresser from mum's room) on the 15th (ds starts new job on the 15th, staying in cat-friendly hotel while he finds somewhere to live, can't currently work out how we're going to get his cat down from ours!)
4) and I had to be home for someone collecting Mr Piano's electric piano - sorry should now be Dr Piano as he graduated on Saturdaynow amassing all Dr P's stuff that is STILL in my house in that room, will photograph and give him the options of arranging storage, disposing of or storing in mum's garage as, when mum moves in, i'll no longer have the room for it
5) DD2 took me to Sweet FA at the fringe Sunday evening as an early birthday treat (story of women's football in Scotland 1915 - 1920 at Hearts ground)
Thoroughly enjoyed the commonwealth games, and now catching up on the 100 BOP. Dr M's messaged me to say Rangers tonight and Dundee Utd Thursday. Very excited that Luton will be on on 26th - that's the day before my 59th and i go to Lyons hideously early on the 28th so a good day to celebrate my birthday - we'll see if i'll be celebrating the result.
Love being part of this forum, hugs to all xxx

Help? please, Admiral. With leaping energy costs, should & swap from mains to batteries for her constant radio usage? As per many posts passim, no TV here - notspot.
& would appreciate any viable advice. Small one currently plugged in to outside mower extension - a repeat of the ancient 'Crown House' on right now.
1. Hummingbird hawk moths and damsel fly both very near yesterday and again just now. 😀
Moth landed on &'s arm.❤
2. Moles are still producing their very useful fine tilth. 3 more heaps this morning. 👏👏👏
3. Early trailer pick-up yesterday for 2 of &'s birds with broken wings - a drier and a vg JLP standard lamp. All parties happy.
4. Enough blackberries are ready on back farmland, so will pick for an hour or 2 shortly. Ate some when walking rpt prescription to surgery - only a couple of miles and crispy straw walking after combining. Always remember, pick nothing lower than doggie wee height.😁
5. Glad of my tree-planting over 18 years ago, despite - like vjm - loving heat, sun, light. Looking up into sessile oak right now-
