Sounds idyllic PK and welcome to Rhubarb and Custard.
For yesterday,
Up early to make the most of the cool, pots all watered and wildlife drinking stations topped up.
Out to emporium for fresh bits, saw my pal and we stopped for a quick coffee.
Much reading in the shade, latest book is Circe by M Miller all about Greek Gods & Goddesses.
Tea was vegetable fritters with a bean salad followed by melon & grapes.
The beautiful full moon, the last super moon of the year.

Good morning, hot and sunny yet again.Frith, I've always wanted to go to Lake Como, thanks for the info, Brunate and Volta's Lighthouse are on my 'definites to do' list, sound amazing.Pleasures today:1) Lovely afternoon yesterday at the garden centre, my brother met us there - they were on their way back south after sorting probate and stuff and rang to say could they pop in to say 'hello' on their way past. Joined us for tea and ice cream sundaes and cake and a good natter.2) Came back and sat in the shade with my book as we were too full for tea - very northern so we have lunch and tea not dinner!!3) Went for a late evening walk with my son, back just before 10 and it was dark. Good to walk off the cake a bit, there was a nice, cool breeze. Never thought I'd turn into someone who enjoyed exercise!4) Spent ages last night looking at the beautiful super moon, it seemed to hang so full and heavy in an inky sky. Very calming and peaceful and reassuring in turbulent times.5) Shopping order has just been delivered so about to start prepping for a BBQ tonight, me and 5 chaps who have hollow legs and can eat vast amounts. They get all 'macho' around the barbie with aprons on and tea towels slung over their shoulders, hilarious when everything is ready for them and all they have to do is a bit of cooking. The kebabs, salmon parcels, salads, marinated veg and puddings (not to mention the planning, ordering and sorting) presumably happen by accident!! But I can sit with a Sangria and relax while they do their thing.Happy Friday!9

As yous knews that The Admiral has a special spot for educators! Well he hath reached that point when he should go back to his skool and do perfected V signs at the follow on block! In those days the educators would not allow entry inn their world unless you had an O thing in English Lit and Lang! I would love to see his face this day!
We had spent the last two years on the apprentice lead inn programme at a proper place, college on to days a weak and on curse to get the ONC, yet the follow on block wood not allow us ruffians too attend, not that we wanted two do saw! I remember the attitude of the ex grammar skool teaches, one of whom ceremoniously ejected up from his call because he could not teach people who had hares on their chest and throw us into the nice lady's class! Such a delight for her, as she got more through her O level class than the little man who had the top stream!
Why? If I had followed the advise at 13 where they said you could not go into that follow on school and do things!
Well soon I will do what most that attended the follow on skool could had done but burned out!
Just doing the HR thing at the moment!
One for the Admiral!
Jen does her
Also available in large print for the hard of hearing!I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!7 -
Hello! Posting early as I don’t think anything else exciting will happen today!I am done! ( done in!)
The second job is done. Hurrah! Hurrah! No more! Almost skipped round the supermarket this morning ( I went every morning before work) knowing it was the last time. And almost skipped back to the car when I finished. However been paid and transferred to my savings account.
The house is done. As much as I’m doing. It’s to be cleaned but someone doing that for me.Picked a couple of roses this morning. Loaded the car with the last load of stuff to come here. Had a wander round. All echoey now. Then home and hello doggy!Niece and great niece came up for an hour. They were picking things up from my mums but came here first. I’d a box of old photos from nieces childhood so she had an emotional time looking through them. Photos she’s never seen before and lots with my dad in them, he died when she was little. It was nice to share those moments with her and to tell her what was what and where and when. And another little pile out my house! And great niece has stretched over the summer. Height of nonsense ! Nice to see them
Went round in her car to get the stuff they were taking. Quick chat with NDN then they went and I walked home ( in the heat)
And I just feel a tremendous weight off my shoulders.Onwards!11 -
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to get my haircut but they had overbooked (?) so I couldn't get be fitted in there. Had my eyebrows done whilst out.
3) Took the last of the shed debris to the tip.
4) Went round the charity shops but didn't buy anything. Also dropped off 2 carrier bags of books and clothes.
5) Went to Lidl. It is only a small branch and it turns out to have amazing air conditioning!
6) Had a Chinese takeaway for tea. It was 36 degrees outside when I got there and I'm going to guess it was 50 degrees inside.
7) Looking forward to the Last Leg.8 -

Not yet DaintyDaisy but it’s on the list ☺️For yesterday.
Up and at em early so hungry come breakfast time, fried egg on toast touched the spot.
Off to the feed store, girlie’s chaff and Speedibeet have both gone up which wasn’t a pleasure but the chat I had with my friend who works there was.
Gentle pottering around the house as stupidly hot again, only trouble is my little shadow aka small dog follows me everywhere so have to watch she doesn’t get too warm.
Easy tea, seafood platter with salad, no cooking involved!
Late night wander around the garden, finally cool, lovely big moon and saw a few of Frith’s meteorites.8 -
Good afternoon.Hot again here but we don't have bright blue sky as we have had for the last few days, it's not cloudy but the sky is a very pale blue.mhagster - massive well done on having cleared your mum's house so quickly, though I'm sure it didn't feel quick to you at the time. We have yet to start, and there are more of us to share the job, but I'm finding the thought of it very daunting - not so much the work involved but the dismantling of a family home and our last connection with the village we grew up in and that they loved and were an active part of for so long. Can get very tearful when I think about it, so I hope you don't mind me saying I can totally understand the weight that is now off your shoulders.Hey ho, on to today's pleasures:1) Fun barbeque yesterday followed by what should have been a very civilised game of croquet on the lawn but which disintegrated into hilarious chaos. I aspire to a very genteel lifestyle, the menfolk in my life quickly bring me back down to earth!2) In spite of yummy barbeque and cake at the garden centre I managed to lose another pound this week, 51lb now.3) Managed to pick up a cheap black jacket without having to trawl round the shops, just about fell into my trolley at the supermarket without too much effort. It will do for the funeral, all my clothes are too big but I don't want to buy too many at this stage so this will put me on a bit. Not a very pleasurable thing to have to buy but some pleasure in the fact I was a size 20/22 and this is a size 12, might have to wear it inside out so the label shows!4) We are babysitting the grandsons tonight so 'film night' with pizza, choccies and the Minions is on the cards (I've got a bit of a crush on Bob!) and a bit of quality time with them and hopefully bedtime cuddles with the 'baby', he won't cuddle much now but I might sneak one in when he gets sleepy.5) Had a builder round to look at the next stage of renovations on the house. He has come up with some good interim ideas before we start the big work next year.Have a good afternoon.9

Highdays, your bbq sounds lovely.
For yesterday, back later with today's, check here to see if I cave to a takeaway..
1 Lovely to be back – ish, but the house looks like it needs a clean as do the windows and the garden, well yes, but I will tackle the Everest Mountain pile of washing first. The neighbour has the right idea, she gets in a cleaner to deep clean, so she comes back to a glistening home. Which at this precise point seems like a great idea. Cleaned a couple of windows and gathered a few dead plants together, dead headed and used a watering can on others.
2 Took the opportunity to clean the fridge, before the Mr T delivery arrived.
3 Cooking up a slice of Costco pizza adding various toppings for tea today, as it’s all that’s from the freezer to oven, I have taken other bits out to defrost.
4 A few washing loads achieved and cycled around, funnily enough it seems to have multiplied, so hot, DH isn’t dealing with the heat at all well.

Oooft at the heat upstairs!Absolutely rubbish sleep last night, was warm and windows open made it noisy. Anyway maybe at most managed 3 hours and certainly not in a row. So alarm went off at 4.15am for work!Quick doggy walk still darkish. In to work for 2.5 hours.
Went to l!dl and then big supermarket. Used vouchers there ( that I’ve accrued using my Clubcard over this summer job) bought some lovely deep maroon coloured gladioli.Home and tidied up. Quick hoover and floor washed. Then dropped a full tub of coleslaw on the floor so washed it again!Son came down and sisters in law came over for a lovely lunch and we sat in the garden for 7 hours. Chatting, eating but mainly laughing! Very hot and sunny but with a breeze and under the shade of the parasol. They’ve not long left and I’ve just done the dishes and tidied up.Solar lights looking pretty.10
