Heat has gotten to me today. Have spent most of the day outside and arms are looking a little pink 😬
however we had a productive day.
de-weeded all of the front patch (desperately needed doing as we haven’t done it since we moved in which was late Feb!!)
shuffled plants around, went to the garden centre and my SO’s parents kindly set up the stuff we bought (extra plants, trellis and rocks). Really happy with how the front looks - just need to find some decorative gravel now!!
SO also cut the grass and we watered back and front.
went on a lovely walk with my friend and her 9mo old - haven’t seen her in 5+ years so was lovely to catch up and hear that she’s doing well.Chill evening with Chili Mac and cheese and an early night tonight!
hope everyone has had a good day!1/29lbs lost

Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) A bit of a lie in.
2) Got all necessary housework done.
3) Went to the first home football match of the season. 36 degrees! I don't know how the players managed, it was bad enough sitting in the crowd. A good match, but a 0-0 draw.
4) Watered the pots outside.
5) Made some coleslaw and had a shop bought quiche for tea.
6) Watched Casualty.
7) Just went out to watch the meteorites and there were quite a few. Had a cup of tea and some cookies out there.9 -
For yesterday,
Up early, quickly made a batch of bread and left that to prove while I headed over to see my horse, she had a nasty scratch under her tail so cleaned it up and applied wound powder, pleasure is having a decent equine first aid kit on standby.
Home, second prove for bread, then coffee and croissants while it baked.
A pal popped in for a chat so coffee pot back on and we sat in the shade outside.
Listened to the footie, this week it was our turn to get a last minute winner. Stupidly hot so game went on for bit longer than 90 minutes due to regular water breaks.
Tea was grilled steak burgers with coleslaw, never so glad that my kitchen faces North then when we have a hot summer. We sat outside until it got dark, at one point a brown arrow whizzed through the garden and briefly sat on top of the front hedge, our resident sparrow hawk.8 -
Mornkng. Maybe a tad cooler but I suppose it may heat up later
Belated Welcome to Highdays, Mrs Toast and Dainty Daisy. Lovely to meet you.
Admiral - after years as an educator I can usually understand most of what you're getting at, but your last post has me baffled. Is it a new job? Are you to be an educator too? Surely not!
We're back home because we really had run out of clean clothes. I'd foolishly listened to the weather forecast before we went and had mostly jeans and long sleeved tops!
The pleasure is that I dried two lots of washing outside yesterday and there's another lot almost ready to peg out.
Not so much a pleasure is the subsequent mountain of ironing.
Meeting DD and partner for breakfast. They came back from Palma yesterday. I think it was cooler there!
Happy 🌞 day everyone9 -
Recent pleasures:
Don't do this heat so only been out twice in over a week to do the shopping, so saved on petrol!
Been very lazy, using the heat as an excuse, so been watching a lot of tv, binge watched the Secrets she Keeps, before starting on the second series. Thought I hadn’t seen it, but I had, but still enjoyed it.
I have been enjoying listening to music on my headphones in a coolish hot tub looking at the sky and birds. My friend came for lunch on Friday and shared the hot tub with me for the first time since pre covid. 2 other friends are coming tomorrow evening for Chinese and hot tubbing.
OH went to first match of the season away at Maidenhead, much nearer to us than “home” ground. His newly demoted team lost ☹️ No chuckling Admiral!
Have a good Sunday, keep cool 😎8 -
I had a very unusual day off today. It’s been splendid ( hot but splendid )
Slept right through without waking up once till about 5.15am.Walk with doggy. Blessedly cool.
Started to declutter the stuff that’s taking up too much space in my wee room! Lots out in recycling bin, stuff that can go in log burner once it’s that time of year. Stuff in the various peoples piles. The various people will be getting mail this week as the dog and I will post it on the early morning walk ( will be the furthest he’s been in weeks to the post box)
DD2 and the chap and I went to my favourite place for breakfast. Sat outside. Had a wander afterwards luckily realised I’d left my specs on the table so went back in to get them rather than going all the way home and realising.
They went onwards with their day and I went back to decluttering. Some of it made me cry as it was stuff that was my dads ( I adored my dad). All interspersed watching Secrets she keeps. So thanks Paulie as I didn’t realise it was on. Almost on the last episode.Ate yesterday leftovers for tea. Just me.Friend called me so nice chatter with her.9 -
Hello again, hope its been a good Sunday where you are.Today's pleasures in brief (makes a change for me!):1) A lie-in after a restless night, did my best sleep between 6 and 9.30am, my bed was so comfy when it was time to get up.2) Not quite as hot today and a bit more cloud so we weren't dodging out of the sun all day.3) To some NT grounds and an award-winning Amaretto and Black Cherry ice cream - first ice cream of the year for me and totally scrummy, ate it watching the swans on the lake.4) Back for another family barbie, totally stuffed now but all low-carb stuff that works for my diet, even if the quantities don't!5) Paddling pool and water squirter fun, we all finished up drenched but pleasantly cool.Looking forward to cooler weather this week, it's been lovely but enough is enough!!!10

For Sat
1 Air con is on – luxurious bliss but very much needed as the ferrets overheat in anything above 24-25 esp the older ones, they can’t sweat and don’t dissipate heat. I am not looking at the leccy.
2 I didn’t cave to a takeaway, I wrapped up 2 chops with veg and new pots, coated in mint from the garden as foil parcels in the oven. Served with broccoli.
3 Unloaded more of the van washed the duvet out on the line dry already, it needs to be a fast turn around as we are back out in the van to a steam fair.
4 I’m in clear out mode, not often it happens so I cleared out the main bathroom cupboard and it has space again. I’m starting on the clothes next and might be quite ruthless now.
5 Various watering can loads to the front garden, we’ll do the back garden tomorrow.
For today
1 I set too on the new to us leather sofas with some specialist cleaner DH had, and it’s worked a treat, I cleaned one sofa 3 times and it’s come up nicely, I will do it again in a week or so.
2 Made up a low sugar smoothie it was lovely, strawbs, ice cubes, milk, 2 teaspoons of 100 percent coca, and no sugar added ice cream was lovely after getting to hot cleaning the sofas.
3 Numerous washes out on the line and around the house.
4 Popped the pork roast in to cook through in the background, did cheat roasties and broccoli to go with the apple sauce.
5 Let the ferrets into the garden for the first time in a few days, they played in the shade, they can be sensible, sometimes.

For yesterday,
A better nights sleep with the fan going but still awake by 7, walked small dog in the cool and watered my pots.
Coffee, bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge.
Remembered that we had got the dog a paddling pool a few years back, dug it out of the shed, de-spidered it and popped it in the shade to put some water in. She obviously remembered as well because she got very excited! I only put a couple of inches of water in but she climbed straight in and laid down. She got out and shook a few times so that her humans could enjoy the water too ☺️Too hot for a big meal so snacked on salad and the like all day.
Enjoying the new series of Van der Valk although we are just old enough to remember the theme tune to the original series and do hum it all day.8 -

50C cool! Was 55C inn the shade on Desert Sheild! There was not much shade!
Fish and Chips. Proper Foods!
Seefood Platta! Good Food!
Barbecue Chaos!
Two much son!
Coalslaw! Non Food!
Stake burgers!
PM2PH I was kicked off a Farcebuck page about 4 years back saying that the team at Glumford Field was heading to Non League! With Swann, and what he did at Gainsborough Trinity! I can see them getting out of that league this year, but not upwards? #UTM! And I am not chuckling! I was there at the Old Showground more than once, especially that match in January 74 against Newcastle. We nipped out of skool, see note passim!
And a bacon banjo!Moor?
Gosh enuff rant there! Now watt?
Busy weakened. Went two fast! Warm it was, and kitty has enuff water as we have outside bowl for her! She laps it up!
FryDay finished off the opera La Traviata on the stream. Pizza, wobbleade and chesses were taken! Very good again, and as we use the Fx card toi pay for it, we are not hit by the transaction charge into $$$! Easy.
Saturday was busy! Tuck the Albatross for overtime, then nipped to the emporium T to get Kitty her special foods and a bit of cheese, filled the wheels. Price came down again! Then off to the discount surplus stores to get provisions. It certainly is getting busier! I saw the sign on another emporium explain they has the same price as the discount surplus store, but their quality. No, that place the fresh food is in the warehouse for two days before it is on the shelf! Take cucumber, from the Boo Tick w8r5 it was mush come three days! Now, it is not!
Then out to the Veterans barbecue at the wobbleade emporium. Bratties were served, banter was hand and things were righted, that even did not need write inn! As it was hot and aft'noon. Stableades were taken. Heineken 0. Well good inn taste. The Albatross also had a good time!
Then home, and we flipped as the Mariners yet again scored in Hurst time! Thirst win of the season! No chicken tikka or sticky wings this weak, so just nuggets with some chilli dip. Settle to watch a fix on the Net. When we First Met. Very good, wobbleade was taken and cheeses were available.
Had the Snorkers and best back for brekefest on SunDae. Servbed with tinned toms, mushrooms, cut tatties and poached egg on buttered crumpet! Tee was taken!
Had dane tee sandwiches, quiche and scotch egg on the fancy stand for tea. It also had a piece of cake as well! Very tatsy and served with fizzy fruit waters!
Had a repeat film last night! Cat Ballou. Very good again. Wobbleade and cheeses were taken.
Thinks that got things up to date!
Jen sends her
Same again soon!
I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!9
