The first dog walk of the day is around 6am and we think a pair of kestrels have nested in the beech trees as their youngsters are particularly noisy, a few years back they were teaching a brood to hunt in the field behind the cottage, fingers crossed they do it again.
Our mini break continues and we took off to cathedral city to see an exhibition of crowns and gowns, costumes from the various period dramas shot in the Ship of the Fens, fascinating.
Late lunch in the Almonry.
A small but yummy box of treats from the chocolate shop.
Several games of Yahtzee and maybe a glass of wine or two!
For yesterday,
Up and at em for a visit to the coast.
Not been to this particular location since pre-pandemic and we were shocked at the erosion, knew the beachside cafe had been moved but the old fishing huts are also in danger.
Small dog run straight in the sea and had great fun, even when a big wave swapped her from behind, luckily we had remembered towels!
The sleek dark heads of several seals swimming just off the beach, the little terns diving in the sea.
Hunting for sea glass, a couple of small pieces found and popped in pocket.
The rain rolled in so we sat in the car, drinking our flask of coffee and listening to the test match.
Home and we were all tired from sea air so a snacky tea and lazy evening watching tele.
gran3 thank you for your concern but it’s only me, the little red hen, who is doing this! There is such a volume of stuff to be removed, my mum was a hoarder but it also meant something to her at one point. So I shall just plod away doing a bit every day as then it’s manageable in my mind.
It is overwhelming at times ( like when I open wardrobe doors and see how much is in there but I also see how far I’ve come the past few weeks as there are gaps when there were no gaps before…it was just piles.) So there is a satisfaction in that I’ve done that.
And downstairs is done apart from a whopping great unit and that had so much stuff in it a few weeks ago so I am getting there.
I’m a very emotional person so feel things. Others in the family not so much! It’s a five minute drive away so not as if I’m driving for hours to get there every day. And a big enough garden for the doggy to run and chase a tennis ball and have a sniff ( he does like a sniff!)
And if I miss a day it’s still there to be done so it’s better for me to keep up the momentum and keep going!
I’m alright…a bit cream crackered but I’m alright. 😊
Caught up in my own house today, hoovered upstairs and downstairs. Washed floors. Cleaned bathrooms. Sorted laundry. Though it’s been a showery day so clothes on clothes horse though I hate that at this time of year. Currently outside getting some air in between the showers.
Went to cinema with DD2, went to see Elvis movie. I’ve got the unlimited card so didn’t cost me today. And DD2 paid for sweets!
Chip shop tea.
And an early night as I’m in at ridiculously early o’clock tomorrow 😳
hugs to Mhags, DforV and nargs and others grieving....
pleasures for thursday 1. walkies and coffee with friend and doggy 2. washing dried on line 3. watched Elvis too - also have an unlimited card 4. went with DD so had a bit of a catch up with her 5. OH picked me up cos it was raining
And Friday 1. watched who do you think you are 2. nice walk to station in sunshine and a trouble free trip to ICT (town in wales famous for ice cream for the uninitiated - Hence Ice Cream Town) 3. meal and drinks in pub with friends - there were 11 of us! 4. OH and i walked back and didn't get too wet 5. read most of an 'easy to read' fluffy novel
OS pleasure for yesterday (Saturday). I was going write them at bedtime but I was far too tired!
1. I have nice, full cupboards after doing a monthly shop
2. Was able to sit with a cuppa in the morning reading The Lady free through my library's Press Reader app.
3. Made up 10 litres of laundry liquid with liquid soap, washing liquid and borax substitute (recipe on Rhonda Hetzel's Down to Earth) which I have been meaning to do for ages.
4. Lovely bath in the evening with Espom Salts.
5. Big bowl of strawberries with sugar and Greek yogurt for dessert.

Slept through the night with no interruptions, must have been all the sea air.
Warm croissants for breakfast.
Hello pony, remember me? She has been a field ornament for the last few days and apparently was sulking about it as took the offered carrot and walked away! In her defence she had been moved to a fresh paddock and food trumps everything in my horse’s eyes.
Spent most of the afternoon in the garden, the juvenile kestrels were out and shouting from the branches of the beech trees.
Stroll around the field with small dog and home for tea, pork kebabs, done in the oven as it was still hot from making a loaf.
Nothing much on tv so we downloaded an old episode of Vera.
1. had a nice soaky bath 2. finished my book 3. coffee with a friend at the steam railway 4. took off a radiator all by myself (and a youtube video) 5. a nice walk by the sea 6. a friend that we haven't seen in some time came for dinner 7. beer festival at the steam railway - the band were shocking but the atmosphere was great.
Long overdue house clean, I have been so busy this week what with one thing and another, but it all looks tidy now.
Spur of the moment decision to rearrange living room furniture - and it works!
Working my way through loads of spinach and salad from a Lidl £1.50 fruit and veg box. So far my weekend has included two green smoothies, a Sag Aloo lunch and a donation of a couple of lettuce hearts to a neighbour. Still lots to get through though....
Trying out posh perfume spray (Penhaligons Luna) bought in a 50% off sale online.
Unwinding from my busy week, now starting to de-stress.
Phone call from stepson - we're going to stay with them next weekend, and he's got us all tickets for the circus. Wine was also mentioned. Going to be a fun weekend by the sounds of it.
Off to do some ironing now - the pleasure will be that it's done and out of the way.

Managed a 3 mile run - got slightly lost at 1 point.
Dropped ds2 off to a party, just waiting to see if he needs a lift back.
Freezer left over chilli reheated with jacket potato
After dropping ds2 off, walked pup near the estuary in country park, was lovely.
Pupster is now fast asleep
1) A lie in.
2) Met up with a friend for a cup of tea.
3) Got samosas (home cooked by the lady who runs the shop in the next village, every Friday)
4) Watched a lot of Wimbledon.
5) Watched Casualty.
That's about it!
