Frith - miword good to have Barry back and what a handsome figure sprawled on the bed! I misread "went to M and S after dropping the cat off" & admired how far M&S go to get at your wallet. Then the penny dropped.Purple kitten - friends who need can be tricky. I'm of the love 'em anyway school, this making even difficult folk easier to cope with, but it doesn't always work. Hurrah new crockery & brilliant that the Fates are having a discounted run for you, just eep no launderette.SuffolkSue, hurrah you've escaped, "been discharged" (I always look around for the cannon) now to please enjoy the recovered energy without overdoing the immediate healing?!mhagster - just awed that you can clear, and paint, and clear more, as well as work & see DD safe to the airport... Oh Haggis, exploring the universe one mouthful at a time, you utter Labrador you. Glorious fresh bed, once you've made it.Broomstick - love the idea of a YouTube mini break & hurrah fruit on pear tree!LaineyT - what a glorious mix - sweet peas, roses & bats. Thankyou for reassurance re grass - have weaned sons off feeding apples (as I like Braeburns too) and onto wonky carrots... Haircut sounds good.Admiral - relieved to hear gym as those mini pizzas sound glorious! Ooh choc ices on sticks - no must not indulge til after funeral when need not fit into only-just-does-up dress. (Himself would laugh so hard.)DundeeDoll - when work is in proportion, someone has reset reality with a mallet. Well done recuriting the VP Research.ampersand - hurrah lunch at the Bridge & just so much speechless love at the generosity & support of Peacock HQ. Deep gulp of ulp at fuel prices.VJsmum - the worse the weather as you book, the more fun the holiday?PaulieHerts - again, amazing photos! Keep on with the enjoying & setting a sunlit well-fed happy example?!Nargleblast - yeay a start back to normality! Plus What a son...topsyturphy - love the pup is housetrained. Well done all involved!villagelife - vive la France & well done DS2 calling you for consultation on a garden they can enjoy.OS Pleasures recentlyThe first brew of the day is a special pleasure. Eyeing the diary rather less so but the brew!Sat at the funeral directors, son murmured “I’ve just found a tenner in my pocket.” Hurrah polymer technology…A bumblebee flew into the room, circled & flew out again. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so reassured. Not that my lads were not serenely competent & comforting, but the bee was just an unexpected blessing & reassurance. (Think Bridgerton but in reverse?!)Meter readings know they’re dynamite & have gone courteous: “ We've received your gas meter reading. Thanks so much. Have a lovely day“ Yes, sure will, you too…I love our relatives. One aunt, beautifully correct, has sent an impeccable card. A cousin, who knows us rather better, has sent a view of hills trees & river. The same “thank you for your kind words” will go out to both, naturally. (Has anyone got any really solid Victorian language for this sort of reply? I’d hate my family to think I’m prostrate with grief & preparing to wear some suitable cap should I Ever leave the house, but I’d like to be slightly ambiguous by post.) Youngest struggling to print deep borders so we may get out rulers & marker pens…We are acquiring dates & plans & are finding experience helps hugely when facing things - the “we’ve been here before” is simplifying matters hugely. Hence me dragging the lads to everything relevant where possible. They’re being heroic & I am so proud of them.Chortling as the engineer doesn’t believe there is such a thing as an interrogative, let alone a gerundive, vocative or imperative. I worked a few examples but he’s not convinced… Yet interrogatives & (ahem) the occasional imperative, are part of our daily speech!Re-reading the solemnisation of matrimony & tallying the godly matrons of my acquaintance & chuckling a bit as the language of the book of common prayer is heady stuff when you’re a bit out of practice.Bought a box of Indian snack food in Morrisons & it’s 90% veggie & 100% tasty. Probably not ideal for the girlish waistline but as an occasional treat (& there was more than enough to leave leftovers for Middleson) it’s fun. Bought a bag of wonky carrots to feed the ponies in our walks & turns out Middleson did the same thing but bought slightly more expensive carrots!Ye gods. Hand in green chit to funeral director, take marriage lines & death certificate to job centre for scanning, collect Will (valid & clear but yikes overtaken by events) & chat to humanist celebrant who has to do it all this time. Poor bloke staggered out, laden with material & a much clearer idea of the man, from meeting his family in his house surrounded by his kit.Intrigued to find solicitors keep the same hours as funeral directors & midwives. Shall not tell sons that, hope to keep them observers of the criminal justice system!“Walk” “that interrogative or imperative?” <gesture>. Interrog then. Short but with a good brisk uphill at the end & son’s “sit down” suggestion was implemented after two flights of stairs.Aw, Youngest has absolutely mastered the family chilli. Middleson off to Belfast for the weekend so youngest & I can hatch mischief…Middleson got up early & silently enough that he & I are exchanging texts as he awaits a flight to Belfast for the weekend. Any MS things to do while he waits for mate to finish work? (He declined the Titanic but liked the idea of tropical greenhouses growing cinnamon at the Botanic Gardens!)Email offering me 15% off “exotics” like my own palm tree or banana. If they’d offered a tropical hardwood I’d be more interested, as himself spent serious money on small blocks for knife handles etc so email deleted in amusement. My boss sent me a care package & managed it so the biscuits arrived seconds after Youngest had declared a wish for them. He thinks my boss has Powers. (I know she has a son of her own & gets the "feed with a shovel" aspect.)Health strength love & courage to all as have need. Dry socks & clean handkerchieves where possible.12

Oh DfV what a wonderful post
be proud of the lads but be prouder of you9 -
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Good to get up after being woken hourly by a cat who really wanted to go outside!
2) Saw the vet in the afternoon and the cat is fine and allowed outside.
3) Got home and the cat shot off down the garden but, to our surprise, walked back up again and sunbathed outside for hours.
4) Cleaned the house including everything the cat has sat/slept on, litter tray, cat basket...
5) Popped to Sainsburys for various bits and some new teatowels.
6) Watched Gogglebox.
Cat and 14 year old cat.

D4v, You've written an inspiring post.
1 We drove around locally to pick some bits up that came up for free, that we use for making the ferret cages, one lady knew us by reputation of walking the ferrets in the area as did her delivery driver. Picked up some wood, and then picked up a prescription, a round-robin.
2 HM curry with turmeric rice tonight.
3 De cluttered some clothes as I have run out of space, it’s only “a start” but it already feels better knowing what’s there.
4 Put in our latest metre readings seems like we are paying the right amount – hmmm not sure if this is a pleasure to be honest as it is noticeable now, despite all the line drying, it does mean that winter will be scary we will have to look to heat the room rather than the house, I think.
5 DH has spent the afternoon starting to turn the past it plates and bowls into bird feeders!

Pleasures today -
Fridays at work is when the cake fairy comes. The unit Data Manager always brings cakes in on Fridays because we deserve it, and we all appreciate it.
Good teamwork with people pulling together to solve some communication issues with very distressed and angry people.
Ecstatic welcome from dog on return home. I know my son was here all day but I am the Mama where the animals are concerned.
Son had ordered takeaway again, extravagant of him but he's been unwell with a cold the past few days so has had little energy. Most welcome, he included jalapeños because I too have this same cold and jalapeños hit the spot.
A negative lateral flow test (tested just to make sure).
Made my legendary hot toddy for both of us, honey, lemon, ginger, hot water, alcohol of choice. Standard cold remedy in Chateau Nargle.
A weekend off ahead.One life - your life - live it!9 -

Have a splendid holiday, dd. The fellowship of ospers flows here and from others around you, family, friends and colleagues. The academic upper case one will come.🙂🎓
1. Picking and eating h-g raspberries while gardening around them. Then, emporium extremely rtcs: 10p 'tatoes parmentier(£2.70😱), 19p stirfry(£1.90), 19p organic turkey slices(£3.80!!!)and salad made a luscious supper.
2. Npd.👏
3. 🤞 for the slightly wilty aubergines. Watered and tied up among much other gardening of beans, toms, pots, general and 4 strawberries from church stall, planted in 2 salvaged baskets. Better late than never? On verra.
4.
Full clothesline of chap garments washed, dried and sorted for a particular Town of Gown CS, which can pass beneath the radar. A late donor of clothing to Peacock HQ had misunderstood: Ukrainian men cannot leave their country. On the other hand, street sleeper numbers are up. Ask Johnson's lot why.🤬
5. &'s little country is doing quite nicely🏏. What to make of Brendan McC now instructing our opponents, hmmmm..... Another 'on verra'.🤔
