Evening all
Sue, sounds like you have been/are/will be in the best possible hands. Your pleasures are wonderful ones (given the circumstances). Thinking of you.
DfV, good luck with tomorrow's meeting.
Frith, I've said it before but I'll say it again that I think you have the patience of a saint. It's outrageous what you are having to deal with. Fingers crossed that the solicitor and legal aid works out.
Five recent pleasures from me:
1. Spent a couple of hours in DS1's company at lunchtime. He was helping me with a job that needed two of us.
2. Leftover veggie mince plus pasta and broccoli for supper. Made things easy.
3. Posted two book parcels for sale so I'll get some money for those shortly.
4. Long afternoon nap.
5. Have made myself a hot water bottle to take to bed even though we're in June. Feels a bit chilly tonight.
Sweet dreams,
B x10 -
Sue, hopefully you will get that transfer v soon, meanwhile you are definitely in the right place.
DFV, with ponies the grass is always greener etc so a handful of new will always be appreciated, hope all goes well today.
For yesterday,
Bit of food shop first thing, few bits of rtc for the freezer.
We had heavy rain for most of the day so mostly inside jobs, finally got around to getting out the glue to repair my favourite straw handbag.
Carrying on with my strength training, arms today.
Tea was rtc salmon with a pesto crust, yum.
Wish I had Broomstick’s foresight as was blooming cold when we got into bed but did pull up extra blanket…. where is our summer….9 -
Good morning, just calling in after a bit of an absence. Busy, trying to reduce internet time etc.
DfV, all blessings to you and yours, and may you have the strength you need to get through the days ahead. There's not always a good reason why things happen as they do, it's hard while you're going through it but you do get out the other side eventually. In the meantime, just take one day, one hour, one minute at a time.
Suffolksue, my dad had a quadruple bypass at Papworth in 2013 and he's still going. Best place in the country for that kind of surgery. You'll be fine.
All is well in Chateau Nargle. Son still lives with me, doing well-paid computer work which enables him to travel to see his girlfriend (she's doing an internship in Spain). They have been together two years this autumn. He is also doing a Masters degree which he aims to finish next year, then he'll start looking for his own place.
Daughter and her man went down with Covid a few weeks ago. They were most annoyed because they'd avoided it for two years, but they're fine now.
I still work two 12 hour shifts a week, which suits me fine. I have the dog and cats to keep me busy. I sing with the choir every week, we've done several gigs in the last few months, including a concert which raised over £3,000 for Ukraine. Next one is 19 June at the Armed Forces Day in South Shields.
I had a couple of days in the Scottish Borders recently, and met up with a friend for a pub meal. She is a medium, and my late OH joined us for the meal. The stuff she told me about his life , how he looked, what he was saying to her - stuff she had no way of knowing. I had always tried to keep an open mind about that sort of thing, not having experienced it myself, but that evening gave me lots to think about. I was really pleased it happened.
Pleasures abound in my life, and the little ones are just as important.
I have at least six baby plums on my little plum tree.
A few days in the Lake District in early April, the perfect break.
New neighbours moved in at Easter, I have met them only twice but they seem really nice.
A new habit of chamomile tea at bedtime, helps me relax for sleep.
Planned visit to Buckinghamshire next month to catch up with stepson and his family.
Walks in the sunshine with dog, she is always full of enthusiasm, her joy is infectious.
Will try to keep up with you all.
One life - your life - live it!11 -
pavlova and quiche indeed, also a rather nice gin and tonic cake and many other goodies ampers
dfv I too all my xoh's books to the oxfam book shop (considering the number they'd have probably come collected - there were 40 bags!)
1) invigilating which normally I hate but was only 4 students with 2 of us and we both sat where we could see all 4 (very well spaced out) and was able to review a paper and do some urgent emails with periodic scanning the room - the 2:30 hours flew!
2) left over salads from Sunday's lunch for lunch - yummy - lentil and artichoke, potato and mint, carrot and balsamic and some baby plum tomatoes
3) amazingly present i ordered on saturday evening for dd2's birthday on wednesday arrived! (haven't checked in the box yet so assuming all OK)
4) very nice rice dish for supper with enough for next day of course
5) mum has a new door bell so walked the boys up there, had a glass of red wine to celebrate new door bell

D4V, I’ve just caught up, whatever it takes to cope. So glad you have your family and faith close.
SSue, so glad you are in the right place for care, thinking of you.
For yesterday
1 We are back from 6 days camping for the first time in two and a half years, it was wonderful and far more needed than I realized. It was very much also trying to remember how we do various bits and bobs in the van.
2 Meeting up with old friends, who also missed us, it was needed and also people who have now become friends which was lovely.
3 Just ordered in and snaffled the end of break tradition we are home takeaway, and it was fantastic.
4 Re filled all the bird feeders and the Robin sat, watching me do it, they were all back in no time.
Today we have been having some deep and meaningful conversations about “friends”, they were very close and as friends we love them, but we’ve more than noticed that we are only of use to them when they want something. We used to invite ourselves over to them and invite them over etc, but it's always from us doing it, if that makes sense? For a long while now the only contact they give us is when they want something, neither of us is sure what to do really.
1 Up and onwards with cleaning out the caravan, and inevitable washing mountain that goes with.
2 We had a goldcrest in the garden for a short while, we don’t tend to get them, so beautiful.
3 Left over takeaway was lunch, and tonight I will be using up sausages for dinner in a red lentil pasta and sauce concoction, which hopefully tastes better than it sounds.
4 How to claim our council tax rebate has finally come through.
5 The woodpeckers have stopped sulking and are currently on 2 of the feeders.
We have also come to the realization we need to declutter a lot more really, but I’m not in the right mind set today, so I will try to make a start later in the week.

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) The maths GCSE went OK.
3) I looked round the charity shops (bought nothing), then had a cup of tea in Waitrose cafe while I waited to collect smaller son.
4) Got back and the cat was there and bundled into the borrowed basket! I phoned the vet and he will be seen in the morning. He has not been in the house for 9 years and is very unhappy. I didn't expect him to come back or be caught so quickly so have had to make litter trays out of veg boxes filled with molehill soil.
He's alternated between purring and being very fussy and being haughty and hissing. He threw himself at the glass in the front door for a while. He has tried to use the makeshift litter trays but unfortunately hung his behind over the edge of the box, where the ancient floorboards have about 1cm gaps between them. Happy days for me cleaning that up at length.
When I've been sitting watching television, he has been asleep and farting.
5) About to watch DIY SOS.
