Evening all
Five recent pleasures:1. Productive time gardening.2. Really, really long queue at the pharmacists yesterday led to a good chat with someone else also waiting ages for her prescription.3. Sorted two more packages of books to sell. Will post them on Monday.4. Big bowl of lovely veggie risotto for supper using up the end of yesterday’s rice.5. Very pleased to discover that I’d overbudgeted by £58 on a bill that was due. Nice surprise and a big help.Sweet dreams,B x11 -
Pleasure for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went out to see the Red Arrows again! Got just the right viewpoint today (they followed the same route as yesterday) so we were right under their turn.
3) Went to the local tennis pavilion this afternoon (it's just a hall used for all sorts of events) where all the cakes, tea and sandwiches were free. My dad and brother went as well. We saw a few of the mums of people who were at primary school with me. The old man 1960s group were far too loud but the local choir had no microphones so their singing was just lost in the air.
4) Back on the Blood Sugar Diet properly. There is such a long way to go. I am now going to let it escalate that badly again.
5) Some merriment just now when both neighbours went tearing up their garden, yelling, as there was such a cloud burst!
6) No Casualty this evening so I watched the Christmas specials of The Office.10 -
Good morning. Bit dull and yesterday was positively cold. Not much warmer now.
Bit of a kerfuffle here.
We go to Spain to visit friends next week and late Friday afternoon the airline cancelled the return flight!!
We decided the best thing to do was cancel the outward flight as well and claim all the money back. Not as easy as it sounds. Who knows their international bank code??. But managed eventually.
Are now rebooked on flights with a different airline on nearly the same days. But instead of flying from an airport 15 minutes away we are at one about an hour and 15 mins away and are staying in a hotel overnight as it is cheaper than parking or a taxi.
The pleasure is that we managed to sort it all out and are now packed and back on track. Phew!
Happy Sunday everyone11 -
For yesterday,
Slow start to the day after a rough night, coffee helped.
Over to the stables, when I got there my girlie was laying down in her field, she didn’t move when I walked up so I plonked myself down beside her and exchanged carrots for kisses, so sweet.Tasty lunch, olive rolls with Brie.Another lazy afternoon, watched the Derby and listened to the cricket, we have tickets for the Headingly test.
We did walk around the field and small dog met a very yappy Jack Russell, think she was bemused by so much barking! Home and the treat of a Chinese takeaway.12 -
Hugs to all
For Friday
1) officially was a uni day of rest but have some big jobs to get off the desk before my holiday - compromised with lazy morning starting with the Saturday long soak in the bath (which of course made me think it was Saturday all day!)
2) bed stripped, washing out walked boys then Sunday Mr T shop with mum as DD2 borrowing car for the weekend
3) dad had sent me and dd2 a cream tea - dd2 not keen on cream so mum and I had the scones, jam and cream with tea sitting out in the front garden in the sun
4) got a good afternoon of work done, not as much as I hoped but do need to be realistic on what I can actually accomplish without burning out!
5) friends' shared 40th, he having got there a few weeks before his wife - met up with friend and we walked to City Quay together along the water front - gorgeous
And for Saturday, a gloriously sunny day though still with a cool wind, a good morning in town
1) Haircut - goodness it had really grown the last 5 weeks, my hairdresser is lovely then off to find book for Friday's book club - no copies of the book in the library but fortunately Waterstones had one copy left
2) Joined DrM for a cup of tea - he is a creature of habit and goes to the same coffee shop 6 mornings a week to read his Guardian but the Saturday visit another friend drops by so decided I wouldn't be disturbing his reading - I sat on the sunny side of the table and basked in sunshine with my new haircut and my new sunglasses then called in at shop owned by gf of pub friend as she'd been in Thursday and we'd had a nice chat - treated myself to a hand-crafted pair of earrings for my holibags (also got my euros and FFP2 masks though obvs not in her gift shop 🤣)
3) After lunch lovely long walk with the boys - forgot to take them water though so not as long as I would have liked - DrM was in his allotment but I didn't shout hello across the train track. I am not stalking him, just happens his allotment is across the rail track from one of my fave dog walks!
4) mse but not a pleasure - watched the 2nd half of the England match, mse cos watched at home. m'eh. then ordered travel insurance, dd2's birthday present (Amazon says it'll be here Tuesday, her birthday is Wednesday, phew). Am struggling with DrM's 60th - I have 4 different ideas, all highly suitable, indeed one is the same as I bought for dd2. Still 5 weeks away. Also starting looking for another friend's 60th next year - I love choosing presents
5) Made my contributions to the jubilee shared lunch after church then listened to Vaughan Williams rather than the jubilee concert as I needed to go through the draft of a student's dissertation.
Then an early night, slept well as did the boys. Will now watch the Paddington (if I was given the choice of 3 hours out watching a concert and staying in with the dogs having a cuppa with Paddington I'd have chosen Paddington too and I'm only 58). Then address urgent email from the boss. Can't wait till my holibags, we fly Saturday.

1. Grateful that solid overnight rain continues as we speak. Another day of No watering.👏
2. Just a short single cloudburst yesterday during a sunny day of all-out celebration, great and small, around the villages. The 'just in case' marquee we put up in the back field late yesterday will be needed today. Thunder storms forecast around 14h. Afterwards, lay back in grass, loving sun on face and arms and legs, and thinking.
3. Some wonderful very end-of-day 5p emporium rtc breads+rolls, plus meeting new Dad in nappy aisle, who is also one of our Peacock 🦚🏉 Family. New son is a blissful easy boy, very likely the most perfect baby ever born❤.....😄 etc. & listened and agreed in all the right ways and places.😇
4. A wonderful young musician and cricket nut-nerd speaker was on with Aggers yesterday, during tea or lunch. But who was he? Can't seem to find a name, but will - a definite listen again.
5. Awareness of contrasts, here and wider and further, in ways great and small and in faith and all faiths. Writing these osps, sending wishes and comfort, happiness and healing and🤲🤲🤲🤲🤲🤝🤜🤛👏🤞🙏. 2 main services today at 1030h and 16h, then over to Peacock HQ 🦚.

Hope everything goes OK tomorrow, SSue and you can find out a bit more.
I hope you are doing as OK as possible, DfV.
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son popped in for a shower. The power steering failed when he was in Wales (in his van) but no scrapyards were open on Friday so he had to stay in a layby until Saturday then fit a "new" reservoir etc. All working now.
3) Plenty of rain. The washing is hanging all over the house.
4) Made many portions of bean chilli for the freezer.
5) Had a cup of tea in M and S cafe.
6) Wales beat Ukraine 1-0! I'm still listening to BBC Wales and a man in Ireland has phoned in to say how he listened in and loved the atmosphere, singing etc and they're all nearly crying now! He's still talking - very eloquent!
7) Tasty teas - homemade potato wedges and nuggets for smaller son and I fried up some leek and prawns in cream and cheese for me.9 -
Oh I just woke up after dozing off upright downstairs! Now in bed but absolutely cream crackered. Alarm set again for the morning.Back to work today. On a Sunday I work ( mainly) with youngsters ( who are all very nice but they’re young) so nobody asked me how I was until boss came in much later and she asked me how I was and I said okay ( but could have cried when she did) and maybe when I was 16-17 I wouldn’t have known what to say but would like to have thought I’d be able to acknowledge someone’s loss. Anyway…
Early morning doggy walk…we went for quality of sniff rather than quantity of steps! Which translates to not a huge walk but as far as the post box and back but extra time allowed for sniffing! In at work for 7am and lots to do. Day went by so blooming slowly…I thought it should have been at least 2.45pm and it wasn’t even 1.30pm.Not madly busy and tips were meh but more than I had this morning.Boss young daughter chose some beautiful roses for me to make me smile instead of feeling sad.Was home when I realised I’d left them on the front counter so DD1 and I walked back down this evening to get them as it would be too warm for them overnight. Then zonked out upright in a chair!Oh and I sold my mums wheeled walker which she’d only used a handful of times, sold within half an hour of putting it up for sale. I’d visions of it languishing so I’m glad it’s gone!8
