We are on our Greek Island ! Up at 1:15 a,m, yesterday, drove to friends and left car there and she gave us a lift to the airport (she works there and lives nearby) it was very busy at Stansted but we got through in about an hour and had an hours delay. Arrived 3 pm local time and unpacked and had a snooze, then out to dinner, kokinisto for OH and lamb chops with tzaztziki for me and wine 🍷😊.
A good night’s sleep 💤 then lovely sunny ☀️ day, if quite windy, breakfast on the beach and a lovely day relaxing with a few dips in the sea.
Thinking of everyone who is not as fortunate as us at the moment 😘10 -

Hello.Just in from mums. Spent about 4 hours all in today there. First time I was on my own and the first time I’d been on my own. Which was a bit sad and then I just felt so overwhelmed at the amount of stuff to do and it just feels like where on earth do you start. So I’ve started posting on the decluttering thread to record the job rather than here as it definitely ain’t a pleasure! Though there are of course good memories but there’s also a load of tat and way too much dust!Went to local castle for afternoon tea with the girls it was a rather lovely thing to do and DD1 paid so that was even better 😀 however it’s the fourth time I’ve been there this week so enough I think! I was wearing red white and blue!Friend popped in just as we were about to leave with lovely flowers and a card. Freesias which I love. Very quick chat and promises to catch up soon ( we’d to cancel a catch up the other week when I had no voice)
Back round with DD1 with a pile of boxes someone local was giving away. First time I’ve been in that wee estate and oooh it’s rather lovely! It’s been such a lovely day here today actually had to water the plants with the hose this morning ( was going to do it last night but forecast said rain but it never)
And it was the most beautiful sunrise this morning as I read DFV sad news. I know we all hold her arms around her and her boys from where ever in the world we are 💕
Alarm set for stupid o’clock ( a tad grudgingly but I was asked and could have said no but why spoil someone else’s plans ?) so I’ll be in bed early and hopefully I’ll sleep until the alarm goes off!10 -
Oh Mhags I feel for you
I had to clear an aunt’s house ,she and her late husband had lived there for60 + years and I don’t think had ever thrown anything away !
Take your time if possible ,get as much help as possible, give yourself breaks9 -
Oh no SSue, sorry to hear about your health worries, sending you best wishes x
Mhags, I went through something similar 5 years ago when we had to clear M&D’s bungalow, so much stuff, so many memories and it all felt so overwhelming. Not sure if it’s something you would consider but once everyone in the family had chosen what they wanted we did get one of those house clearance firms in which made the whole process a tad simpler.9 -
SSue, please look after yourself.8

Oh Sue looks like we posted at the same time so I didn’t read that until now!At least your are in the right place! Please take care and do what the nurses say 😊10

Oh, SuffolkSue, sorry to hear that. Glad to hear the food is OK. Hope you get some speedy treatment next week.
MHags - I cleared my auntie's house out last year (she had no children) and she (well, my uncle then both of them) had lived there since the late 60s. The small bedroom was lined with laden bookshelves and the floor in there was under a metre of stuff. The full length fitted wardrobes in the two double bedrooms were the same. And under the stairs. Some of the furniture went on FB marketplace and it was quite cheering when people came to collect it, just to have someone else there for a few minutes. I used a charity who collected bagged up textiles and books - not sure if that would be any use to you? I left stuff in the porch and they did a weekly collection. They took 40 bin bags of books and probably 25 of clothing for me.
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Made 6 portions of Spanish chicken for the freezer.
3) Back on the BSD after the Indian takeaway etc of yesterday. In the past, a blip has meant I've pretty much come off the diet completely.
4) Went out with smaller son this afternoon. It was very difficult on the interactive map to see exactly where the Red Arrows would be flying but we worked out that they would be "cornering" about 4 miles away. So then we had to pick somewhere we could park and have a view over the Teme Valley one way and towards the Clee Hills the other way. We stood around for a bit then 2 people came out of a farmhouse and started looking over the hedge about 200 metres from us. The Red Arrows appeared and we got several seconds of a good view. They started to turn - then disappeared behind a row of larch trees and the other people still got a good view! Smaller son was impressed, still.
5) Popped to town for a few bits from Tesco and some petrol.
6) Bigger son has text to say he has been to 3 places in Wales in the van. My sister is in a youth hostel on the border.
7) Waiting for Gogglebox now.10
