Good morning! Just going to throw some clothes on and take the doggy a decent walk. Didn’t get a decent walk yesterday morning so need it to clear my head and start the day properly. Currently dry.Yesterday went as well as yesterday could go I think.Reverted to mother hen with three chicks back in the house! Have you showered yet? Have you had your breakfast? Put that away…make sure you shut the door on that bedroom! Was up early and made scones and strawberry tarts and filled meringues. And a couple of trays of sandwiches.
It seems I’m the only punctual person in my family. And when I say punctual I’m there early as I have allowed for the traffic being busier as it’s morning rush and we’ve lots of school traffic at that time…anyway brother came here ( at this stage I was just thinking right we are going without him!) and then we all squeezed into DD2 car and round to mums. Then the funeral cars left from there. We had a lovely drive down to the crematorium. It was a beautiful morning and my mum loved the countryside at this time of year. Very lush and green as we’ve had lots of rain and combines out in the fields already. A lovely driver who chatted all the way there.I took the service. And as well as speaking I was in charge of the buttons to play the music and the button to close the curtain! Had a very quick crash course to do so! And there’s a wee note saying do not exceed 30 minutes! The kindness of our funeral directors has been outstanding and they say oh it’s just our job but it’s such a special job that they do.Back to mine for morning tea. It was so busy and thankfully enough food made!I was so glad when everyone went though. And the sound of peace and quiet. And I think that’s when the enormity of what’s happened hit me.Friend popped over later with her grandson so we all had baby cuddles which was lovely and a good chatter. And when she left it was time for bed!And how can it be June already? I honestly feel it was just Christmas !Have a good day.9 -
Glad yesterday went as well as it could MHags 😊
Recent pleasures:
Dinner at pub last night with 2 old quiz team friends, one down from Yorkshire.
I had ricotta and spinach cannelloni and knickerbocker glory, yum 😋, and a Pimms 🍹 to start with.
Watched the tennis 🎾 when we got home, so pleased at the result 😊
Might regret the above, as I woke up before 5 a.m. and we’ve got to be up at 1.30 a.m. tomorrow for our holiday flight to Lesvos.
Got to work out how to get a fortnight’s clothes etc into my case, need to reduce it all by at least half. Will be worth it when we get there but I do not enjoy preparing or the journey.
Well, hopefully next time I post it will be from my Greek island paradise 🏖
Take care all 😘

Hugs Mhags
Safe journey and happy holibobs Paulie
For yesterday,
Made a loaf, 8 grain flour which is my current fav.
Spent some time in the garden, weeding the beds plus cleared a climber from the side of the shed, it’s been looking spindly and the shed needs a repaint so will see if it grows back after it’s chop.
All the time I was watching the huge bank of dark clouds on the horizon and around midday it hit, rain and hail.
Met DB for a late lunch, good to catch up and cake might have been eaten too.
Watched the last episode of Gentleman Jack, just cheese and grapes for supper due to the above.7 -
Good morning - just!
Mhags - glad all went smoothly
VJ's mum - hope all is well. I'm guessing you're in a marking black hole!
DfV - I do hope you have had some good news by now x
DH out this morning so I'm cracking on with housework
Broke off to argue with Britsh Gas for a while but actually got a very helpful man who sorted everything out quick sticks! Still feeling slightly shocked by that! And got a refund too.
The blackbirds very helpfully clear out our gutters every year at this time - presumably looking for grubs. Unfortunately they don't clear up after themselves so my next job is to sweep the path. Was all set to do it yesterday then we had a monster thunderstorm!
Steak pie for tea with mash, using some need-using-up potatoes and mushy peas - the last of a batch I made ages ago and froze. Followed by cake and custard. A bit like school dinners but much better.
Happy Wednesday everyone

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son and his girlfriend are on their way to Tenby - in the new van.
3) I went for a cup of tea in the local garden and one of bigger son's friend's mums has just started working there! I hadn't had chance to speak to her much since they both left primary school so we had a chat.
4) Got the washing dry on the line.
5) Tidied the garden a tiny amount and watered all the pots and the strip of flowerbed in front of the house.
6) Talked to the neighbours then there was the game of, "Ooo, that hornet is going into your roof!" "No, it's gone into your bathroom extractor fan!" "Argh, it's going into your chimney now!"
7) Watched DNA Family Secrets, which is much more sensible that the title would have you believe.8 -
DundeeDoll is out very late tonight! Dear reader read on... (though don't expect anything except a millimetre of an advance!)
1) made a fabulous fish stew at breakfast time cos i knew i didn't have any (!) gap in meetings between 8 and 4
2) though managed with excellent (if i say so myself) time management a comfort break at 11 hooray (and let me just say i really earned my salary today!)
3) the fish stew grabbed at lunch time was lish
4) then at 4:45 downed tools and trotted off to lovely opening of new facility at the Botanics - Dr M was there and i was a useless tongue tied ijjit and didn't even say hello d'oh
5) bit later he came over and said hello then we spent the rest of the evening together including him inviting me to take the short cut through his back garden (which is gorgeous) so i invited myself to his (also lovely) for a cuppa and he made me a cheese sarnie and then we walked down to the scotland game and mr g couldn't make it after all (tummy bug) and we stayed till nearly closing time and he walked me home and i said don't know when we'll see each other again and he looked up fixtures on his phone and found portugal v spain and he'll text me. told him i'd had a lovely evening. which is true. i am truly hopeless but had a lovely evening so think that's the main thingforgive me it's 39 years since i did this sort of thing!

awwwhhh DD it’s lovely to read of that extra millimetre! I wouldn’t have a clue either!Well it’s very early o’clock. Dog woke me an hour before my alarm was due to go off so I’m just sitting up in bed watching the sun come in. Birds are singing and someone is snoring.Dog has vomited. Nothing to get you out of bed quicker than that initial noise. Then I realised I hadn’t posted last night!Wednesday was indeed another day,.
Had a lovely walk first thing. It was such a beautiful start to the day.Sorted out flowers. Cut down stems and clean vases.Went up to favourite place with DD1 and nephew. I am going to turn into a roll and sausage! Had a. Nice walk afterwards.Dropped him off at trains station. In to town for first of four trips to solicitors. Two trips to bank. One trip to local cancer centre with a donation from after the funeral. Mum had used them back in 2013 and we thought they were a suitable charitable cause.Home…briefly to charge phone for half an hour.Round to mums, did a bit of clearing…there is so much and will take a while but I think if I do a bit at a time ( probably all I can mentally deal with) bin was emptied yesterday and it’s already full again)
Popped in to next door neighbour for ‘5’ minutes ( as I said to DD1) she’d to come and find me.Took a bag of books down to supermarket charity shelf.Got takeaway and walked home…certainly got my steps in yesterday! Then bed with an alarm set for silly o’clock. Which hasn’t quite gone off yet!Have a good day!11 -
Aww DD, it’s like an Austen plot ☺️For yesterday,
Stayed in all morning waiting for a parcel, finally arrived at midday.
Did give me chance to update budgets etc, especially as small dog’s insurance renewal had arrived, will hunt around for alternative but given her age (11) don’t think I will find much cheaper.
Lunch then over to see equine pal, also had a chat with my fellow livery owner.
Made lime & chilli chicken kebabs for tea but was a tad heavy on the chilli 🌶 hot hot.
As always nowadays, the evening was bright & sunny with a new moon visible, best part of the day.
