For yesterday,
Up early as it was my turn to sort out small dog, don’t mind as like the peace & quiet of early mornings.
Long leisurely breakfast.
Our guests left early afternoon and small dog sulked for the next few hours!
Lots of relaxing but we did get in a walk around the fields.
We just grazed on leftovers so a no cook day for me.

Nought the sharp knife and the dumpling mix!

The onions floating with the proper dumplings, in pure pan gravy. We do not use the bisto here!
All served up and demolished with minted new jumper spuds and collie flower!
Strawberry's and ice cream was also had!
Watched the film Lancaster last nite. Very good and it was on the three stream from the bankers of the Admiral! Wobbeleade and proper cheeses where taken! No mention of a dog, that msm seem to get a hang up on a film, but a mention of hard look and empty tables the next morning!
Now with mes mug of tee, and a cartwheel biscuit, orange favoured! Very good for the Admiral, Oranges shall be ate later as well! I has special bits inn mes lunch two day, radishes! The Albatross dose not lick radishes, so all for mes!

OS pleasures recentlyHerb garden looking gloriously green & promising after a good rain. I love the different shapes & textures.Church bells over the valley. Change ringing not a steady tocsin. As two of the chaps hurtle (via bacon sarnies) to go see Ma-in-law, us remaining have the tranquility returning to enjoy the bells.Yesterday I made everyone laugh - I groused I had to get my work bag packed having Completely Forgotten it was Saturday. So this morning I reviewed my kit & realised smiling Buddha was dusty - promptly washed & a nailbrush carefully plied to crevices. Clean happy Buddha! We’ve found a local source of suet (ok lamb but mutton) that is free! Hurrah, rendering tallow & making rushlights for living historians & those short on money for the electric back into family range. (We follow Gilbert White fairly scrupulously - https://quod.lib.umich.edu/e/ecco/004806094.0001.000/1:4.2.2.27?rgn=div4;view=fulltext)Working on an article about epilepsy, the benefits of taking your pills reliably & as I ponder, realising I got lucky time & again. I hope to make a colleague with epilepsy appear almost as straightforward as a left handed colleague!Tucked quince seeds into a germinator, see what happens. Found some rhyme seedlings in there, all 1cm tall - they may do better with more attention!Antiques Roadshow from the Edinburgh Botanical Gardens (a repeat) and remembering bits from childhood walks!Another good day getting work ready to move - 3 gruesome cupboards stripped into recyclable & confidential waste, and left ready to tick off as empty. Laughing Bhudda helped!Saw a simple recipe that took 2 pages to print & on closer examination the how to on my old allies, Fat Rascals. Too many ingredient but oooh, the results!Lancashire Hotpot. The new butcher specialises in lamb (through to hogget) and and the price is delightfully reasonable, it’s almost OS let alone hm & delicious!I really need to get my hearing checked. A program on sausage making & “this is 50% fresh, 50% frozen Orc”…Springsteen & the E street band live in Dublin next year. Do I go see them live?Happy cries of “Yeay Wondermill, I haven’t ground anything in ages!” - he’s watching YouTube videos again.Aw. “Tea? Hug?”’ Our sons have a wonderful grasp on the essentials.Morning of mayhem in office & somehow I’m the only one on the team who can print! Afternoon already booked as leave so expectation management attempts in place.Youngest & I hiked through plural supermarkets, all on list safely gathered in & me slumped with mug of tea, thinking about anything but the bank. Will be interested to see what Rishi’s bonus will do to help.Looked up naval Ludo & now want to see a proper board and the writing on the underside! (We’re more of a tafl family, but Granny taught me some card games. If I only knew poker!)Family tree & I met a chap Tedbar Wimpenny. Wholly new given name to me, must peer at a census! (Seems genuine - what a branch though, one dies in Alaska & a sibling in Fulham.)Salt & vinegar Pom bears! Youngest queried Why I lunge for these amongst others & it’s mostly thanks to that camping holiday in Crieff & gladsome memories of all sons scrunching.Middleson, social animal, has a friend over & they went off to see a live gig. This morning, I crept up to make a brew & had to step over a sleeping son to put the kettle on. This inevitably briefly disturbed him but he was capable of saying good morning & pulling his “fort” back into position to go back to sleep!Cobblers. Himself has had a heart attack but is in ICU. So far, have used the rapidly shifted furniture to do extra hoovering & change the bedding. Pleasure beyond words that the paramedics got to him effectively enough to postpone the heart attack til he was in hospital.
God bless the NHS!
health strength love & courage to all as have need & if you can spare a prayer for healing for a bumped heart, it’s much appreciated.10 -
Sorry to hear your news, DfV, and hope that your husband goes on OK. What a shock for you both.
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Lost another 2lbs (1.5 stones now).
3) Did various jobs including a load of washing dried on the line.
4) Had a lamb neck fillet in the freezer (one of brother's butchering sprees) so browned it in some redcurrant jelly then made a stew with apricots, beans and butternut squash. Very tasty.
5) Bigger son appeared in his new van, ready for travelling later this year. We had a tootle out to the nearest layby and had a cup of tea made on the gas ring. Smaller son was very taken with this so we went out again in the afternoon (to the millennium green) and had a second cup of tea and played catch on the grass. This is the first time smaller son has been out with bigger son in about 3 years. The van has a proper double mattress, lots of storage, a sink (water bottle beneath), all sorts of gadgets thrown in for free plus a solar warmed shower.
6) In bed and will watch Hunted just now.10 -
Oh my goodness DFV take care of him and take care of you xxx
Another day. I’ve just climbed into bed and shut the door. My three are downstairs chattering.
Up early and DD1 clambered in beside me. Your new bed isn’t as big. I know.Did some baking then we went up to my favourite place and had a roll and sausage and a nice walk.
We went to funeral parlour this afternoon to say farewell to mum. She looked peaceful.
Back to mine for half an hour then we walked to mums but I met a colleague so stopped to chat with her for ages! They went onwards.Made macaroni for tea.Tidying up and making cakes.Nephew missed a train but we guided him to the bus.Son arrived. Nabbed DD2 driveway space as she went to pick up nephew!Nipped over to neighbours to ask if we could use their driveway tomorrow.I feel emotionally drained today. Goodness knows what tomorrow will be like.13 -
