Evening everyone , a busy day today but managed to get lots done.
1. A sunny but windy day here, perfect for drying the washing, so washing all done and dried.
2. House cleaned from top to bottom….well front to back I suppose as it’s a bungalow.
3. Bird feeders cleaned and restocked and some general ‘pottering’ around the garden.
4. Finalised the community summer programme now I’ve finally received confirmation of the grant funding.
5. Best of all Mr M back home for the weekend, he works away at the moment Monday to Friday, so Fridays are always happy days. Steak night, date night, music, wine (for me), beer (for him).
Pottered around. Niece messaged did we want to go to woodlands so yes we did and had a lovely couple of hours. Walking and chattering and enjoying the company of a three year old boy who’s such good fun. We saw ducks and geese and swans and cygnets and coots and cooties. Got caught in a few showers. Was good to get fresh air.
Up to mums for a couple of hours. Then hairdresser called to say she’d had a cancellation and I could come in asap instead of later so that was good. Much needed and eyebrows less hairy Mary looking!
Home and brought washing in and out a further load out. It got almost dry.
Tea was out the freezer. Some RTC breaded chicken steaks and potato wedges ( potatoes from mums cupboard) and corn on the cob and cabbage…it seems I’m the only one who loves the cabbage!
DD1 has arrived in London. Hurrah and will be up here tomorrow lunchtime. Can’t wait to squeeze her.
More flowers for our flower shop! DD2 got a stunning bouquet from her work colleagues.
Mums next door neighbour popped in to see me this evening with a lovely card with beautiful words. Saying that we’d always had a binding tie for many years. I’ve known her most of my life so that was nice too.
An ex colleague of my mums brought a card round…my sister who has white hair answered the door and she said…oh are you ( mums name) sister? Oh how I’ve laughed all day! No, she indignantly said , I’m her daughter! What a hoot!
Met up with an old friend yesterday. We had a major fall out a couple of years ago so good to put it behind us and move on. Have managed a couple of small jobs in the garden but cancer is exhausting so having a rest now. couple of Jubilee celebrations to look forward to, apparently I am making Coronation chicken sandwiches! Don’t remember offering, but will do
No exploding Betas? Bird Feeders! Kunch Squeezes! Late Chicken! Coronation Chicken!
Jangling!
Had the home chicken nuggets last nite as we watched the roses game on the box! Woobleade and cheeses were taken.
Out this morn at the Vets brakefest. Loads of snorkers were taken, as well as tee and banter! I note that teh plaice was as full as usual, so the media induced famine has not hit here?
Now sat, ready for lunch of Fish and Chips ... Very important international game on too day! #UTM
Note when Charlie George scissor kicked in May seventy-one, I has bin a gooooner!
For yesterday, I took a day off in lieu and it was loverly 1) yummy porridge for breakfast with frozen fruit added before cooking and greek yoghurt after, sunny walk with the boys then 2) 10 of us (3 cars) went to Innerpeffray - Scotland's first lending library - very interesting 3) then we went for a super lunch at a nearby hostelry - i had braised ox cheek, everyone agreed all the food was lish 4) mum and i got dropped off at mine, we had a cuppa in the garden, updated the wall planner dates and I sorted the large white board i have in the kitchen, including freezer inventory 5) after supper walked the boys over to Mr L to get toothpaste and mushrooms then watched the last 2 episodes of Derry Girls - and yes I cried just as I cry now for the mess being made. I had some chocolates still from son's visit - don't any more
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.
2) Lovely, bright day. The washing is still on the line.
3) The lady came to clean the washing machine and fridge freezer. (They're on an extended contact for repairs and annual cleans). Her son is also doing GCSEs and was surprised she could teach him chemistry!
4) Using up bits from the fridge and freezer (have been doing this for a week, ready for its cleaning). Roasted some chicken fillets and smaller son had rolls with chicken and stuffing for lunch. I had chicken salad. I've just had an omelette with chicken and sun dried tomato for tea. Smaller son will have toad in the hole and peas.
Lovely walk yesterday with sis to canal and river. Lots of babies - cygnets, greylag goslings and cooties 😊 then we had lunch on the terrace at the white water rafting centre and saw a few kayaks and rafts do the rapids. it was so nice sitting there in the sun, we stayed a bit longer and had a cider 😊 This afternoon OH and I went to a bird experience. I had bought it for friend’s birthday, but she has Covid ☹️ So OH came with me. We had 2 different owls 🦉 take food from our gauntlet, Ahhd at an owlet and admired an African Crowned Eagle 🦅 Hawk. An enjoyable experience. We got kebabs on the way home and watched some tennis 🎾. Night all 💤
Slept okay, once I got to sleep. Woke at 5.30am. Went a nice walk with the dog just us and the birds.
The niecelys arrived. Here for an hour ( when my table was scribbled over with biro…I was not a happy lady when I found it! Managed to get most of it off. )
Went out for breakfast at local castle. I’d booked a table for 11am. I was there at five to. They came at quarter past. I hate tardiness. My aunt said later it was only 15 minutes. I call it rude!
Picked up DD1 at train station…hence making it 11am as I knew I had other things to do with a time scale. Beyond lovely to have her here.
Nipped in to town.
Then home. And hello doggy and wasn’t he a happy boy to see his big sister! So happy. And a big brother earlier in the week. And he’ll have them all here this coming week.
Cut the grass. Still need to trim the edges.
Called aunt, chatted for an hour. Just wanted to go over stuff for my eulogy of mums early years.
Hoovered and finally got round to washing floors.
Sorted out all my flowers. Most were in boxes from the florists so trimmed stems and put them in vases.
Then sisters in law arrived and we had such a lovely evening, so much laughter and love in the room. I just adore them both.

Early retirement goal... 2026
Reduce, reuse, recycle .
Changed the bed and actually popped a blanket back on as it’s been so chilly at nights.
Out and about with the pony, heard my first cuckoo of the summer.
Driving home and seeing lots of Union Jack bunting & flags.
Late tea as we waited for youngest DSS and lovely gf to arrive, did a big dish of chicken fajitas as nice and easy.
Lots of laughter as we had a good catch up and small dog was so pleased to see some of her favourite people again.
