Bedtime! A wee bit early but I got soaked when out dog walking and alarm is set for silly o’clock and I’ve things to watch so shall do so from the comfort of my bed.
No work this morning! How novel for a Saturday!Started ‘get yourself a bit less overweight than you are at the moment’ club this morning. Oooft! However my friend was restarting at the same time so lovely to see her and sat with other friend too. Bit happy clappy but maybe I’ll be happy getting clapped next week!Went for a walk round the big park and then went to l!dl and then big supermarket for caffeine free diet coke and then the charity shop at that end of town. Got three new to me tee shirts.Home and hello doggy. Stood and chopped and parboiled a mountain of parsnips! So all in the freezer now ( squeeezed in)
Had a snooze this afternoon with a very weird dream!Had chilli for tea.Very soggy doggy walk but nice all the same. We’ve not had proper rain for ages so it’s badly needed for the garden. Unfortunately it often forgets to switch off!12 -
DfV - this is our fourth year of GCSEs, thank to 2 years of retakes...
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son reappeared! We had a cooked breakfast to celebrate.
3) I'm sure you all saw the sky fall in at about 12.30. This is because I put smaller son's hoodie in the washing machine and it wasn't ready and dry in time for the football this afternoon. (Plenty of other hoodies were available). Despite some shocking behaviour, we did go to the football (that's the trouble with having to pay for it beforehand). Won 3-0 today.
4) Meatballs and tomato sauce for tea, which was rather nice.
5) Just watched the double bill of Casualty.12 -
Evening all
Five pleasures:
1. Living in a village where the people smile at you and say hello as you pass them in the street, even if you've never met them before.
2. Buying a bunch of carrots with the tops still on. I do like carrots that look as if they've just been harvested. It meant that I was able to improvise a very garlicky carrot top and corriander pesto with pasta for lunch, Extremely nice and I've enough for tomorrow as well.
3. Phone call with best friend.
4. Done my end of month accounts and recalculated my estimate of the next dual fuel bill. All sorted.
5. The lilac tree leaning over the garden wall from next door has suddenly become laden with beautiful smelling flowers.
Sweet dreams

1. Here and now, Peacock HQ, party party!!!
All ages, all happy, all included as we sing and dance - the Peacock 🦚 Family.
2. What a glorious day. Our scratch team of Nomads have won the Cup! Only-just-ex-Colts and a few old heads, first time together against known dirty opponents. Played at Ely, then back here. Wonderful day, ending a golden season.
3. The Harridan's Hamper was composed and trundled around at President's Day before and after absence at Ely. The Raffle Harridan never stops, in yet more Peacock vestments, CS always.😁
3. Beautiful, beautiful weather to revel in today after yesterday's chill gloom. Sun didn't appear until just before 1800h. This sort of English weather is mocking stuff. Not &'s pleasure at all.
4. Recently widowed friend's elderly remaining dog has, 🤞, come through extraction of 7 teeth! They need each other very much at the moment. No wonder poor Willow wasn't eating - not just pining the loss of mate, Button, and her 'Dad'.
5. & has to go. Jump up. 'Down Under' is on again!...... Requested 'We are the Champions' earlier😁 Complete joining in by everybody ..fabuloso.

&, remember! Service duty in the morning, so fuel, milk and biccies en route back.

For yesterday,
Unexpectedly early start when very large bumble came through open window into bedroom, woke up to it flying a couple of inches above head, safely removed but large jolt of adrenaline meant no going back to sleep.
Over to yard, as & said beautiful day in Fennyland so mooch out through forest track, only downside was meeting inconsiderate Lycra clad cyclist who rushed past us with no intention of slowing down and made us both jump, this despite my high viz tabard stating please pass wide & slow. Tsk.
Time spent in garden, pottering and reading, birds happy to go about business with me around.
Was going to have payday treat of takeaway then remembered it was Guineas meeting and horsey town would be heaving so rustled up chicken kebabs with cashew rice.
Late evening walk with small dog, everything so green and luscious, Beltane Blessings to you all.12 -
Good morning. Rain here after a glorious day yesterday. Much needed by the garden though.
Ampersand - what a party animal! You go, girl!
Admiral - Vulcans used to be stationed about 2 miles away from us. That roar!
Yesterday
A trip to the butcher's and greengrocer at the garden centre. Having a coffee in the cafe when DGDs appeared. That was a nice surprise!
Still watching re-runs of George Gently. Between him and Vera the North East is well policed.
No gardening today but may start some new garden bunting. Last year's has been out all winter and looks a bit sorry for itself.
Happy Sunday everyone12 -
Been a while since I posted.
A few over the past week.
1. Line manager not at work. Made work bearable and a couple of others thought so too.
2. Enjoyed my usual dog walk in Friday and the bluebells are looking fantastic. I went early enough and it was sunny too. Spoke with usual people on walk. Saw loads of deer - all where they should be behind the deer fencing in the deer park. The gates have been left open on occasions so there are more deer out of the deer park than there used to be!
3. Saw my sister. She came here for a walk and lunch. Went on a different walk than normal with her dog who loved the stream. We all got wet . It was lovely to catch up with her.
4. Briefly saw DS1 as he picked up his post. He had won tickets to an opening of a new restaurant the night before so had tasted the good and drink.
5. Time spent in the garden. It is a relaxing place to be.
Watched the spitfire fly over a few times yesterday.
6. Chat with a neighbour - I was worried she wasn't talking to us due to various reasons but she is.11 -
Must try harder!
Tip trip done, old boiler off for metal recycling. Middleson gratifyingly stunned us old creaks could lift it into the boot…Son’s lime & father-in-law’s oak showing distinct getting on with spring, assorted currants may need netting if we’re to get a crop - saw & heard at least 5 different birds in garden, so some competition once the currants start to swell!Parents report they looked in on babysis’ room to find cat departing at pace, in a huff at having been enclosed inadvertently.Had a short binge on Forged In Fire which was being shown in daytime as opposed to after 10 at night. We don't do much forging but we love the show! (I'm not the only one who swoons a bit at the not-a-smith-but-martial-artist Doug Marcaida.)Middleson's plans to get in some kayaking on a nearby reservoir on hold both as forecast for rain & "as it gets a bit windy there" - when I pointed out he's not a sugar mouse, I got a glorious offended smile that I recognise from the nappy mat...12 -
Afternoon everyone. Lovely to be back home even if the weather is wet and miserable.
Lovely pic ampersand and what a lovely trolley full of goodies.
pleasures for today.
1 A lovely lie in and Mr M brought me through a morning cuppa, he works away in the week so this is always a weekend pleasure.
2 food shop done and fridge, freezer and pantry re-stocked and then popped in Go Outdoors for a mooch which passed an hour and I (sorry folks) bought my first two Christmas pressies, two warm and cosy winter coats for the grand munchkins which were £50 each but in the sale at 2 for £25.
3 I did a bit of batch cooking a chilli, shepherds pie and a lasagne which have been portioned up and popped in the freezer.
4. A plus side to the rain, I only need to water the plants in the greenhouse and not the veg growing in the garden.
5. Best pleasure for today was remembering it’s a bank holiday tomorrow and smugly turning the Monday alarm off .Well Behaved women seldom make history
