Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Got told to p--- off so many times, that I actually have. That was after lunch. I'm still sitting in my car. I've read a magazine, half a book, listened to the football and a lot of radio 4.
3) I've also found 3 geocaches.
4) Had a cup of tea in Waitrose.
5) Will have to go home eventually and will watch Casualty. No idea what reception I will receive.11 -
Hugs 🤗 to Frith 😘11

Frith, big hugs, long walks and a massive piece of cake sent your way.1 Bourneville made it upstairs again on his own, couldn't be prouder.2 Walked around to screwfix to pick up an order, with the fuzzies got to meet a few people you wouldn't otherwise. Our lovely neighbour opposite invited us in to show us their extension in progress it's wonderful and lovely to chat.3 Resisted ordering in and cooked from the freezer it was pizza.4 Watering the garden always relaxing, as long as I'm covered from bugs.5 A big bumble wandered in and went all around exploring and then left the way he came in.12

For yesterday,
Nice lie-in followed by coffee and croissants.
The apple tree in blossom with bluebells underneath, hopefully we will get a decent harvest this year.
Popped over to see pony, avoided the barn just in case lurgy is something a bit more contagious and headed straight up to the paddocks. Gave horse various treats plus a back scratch, weather sunny but with a cool wind so glad I put my jacket on, nice to be outside though.
Snooze after lunch, woke up to listen to the football but we got thumped by the Black Cats after having a man sent off.
Walk with small dog and beloved, the leaves are just starting to come out on the beech trees, nearly always the last and a sure sign spring is well and truly here.
Second half of the lasagne for tea, tried to have a game of Yahtzee but head too fuzzy to concentrate so enjoyed Matt Baker and his parents going around Bamburgh Castle instead.11 -
Frith hope your reception at home was better than you expected.
1. Messaging a friend as we were both planting plants in the garden - it was early about 8.30. I transplanted foxgloves DH had dug up.
2. DS1 gave me lift to station to go to rugby. Trains were all on time.
3. Enjoyed rugby. We won but was very close match. Almost lost my voice but great atmosphere.
4. Stayed and watched an amateur game after. Enjoyable to watch.
5. Messaging my Dad during the match. He enjoys watching with others and my Mum not keen.10 -
hugs frith
1) bath had, washing out, grass cut and library book back on time
2) then down to mennies for the 12:30 match - watched Luton throw away 2 points with Dr M - still, we got a point. We celebrated / commiserated with cups of tea
3) after a late lunch a glorious long walk down to the nature reserve - dogs on lead cos skylark nesting season - skylarks singing their little hearts out - met this furry beast then sat on the grass feverishly following the dying minutes of the Birmingham Millwall game on my phone - an excruciating 9 minutes of stoppage time - the tension lives on admiral
4) flowers from dd1 - she got me 3 months' for mothers' day so this was #2, I had of course forgotten so a lovely surprise
5) fab fry up for tea then bed with my latest book 'Snow Country, Faulks'. DS and gf got home late so will see them today and hear how Paris was, though of course have already had photos on whatsapp - a box of chocolate escargot has appeared in the kitchen - will we eat them slowly?

Just catching up on some of your pleasures, which after been awol for almost a year is taking some time, but made me remember how this thread lifted my spirits throughout lockdown and how it’s often the simple things in life which give so much pleasure.
My five for the day.
A lovely early morning walk with the dogs.
Mr M cleaned my car….inside and out which I’m so pleased about as I hate doing it.
spent a couple of hours in the garden, adding more compost on the spuds, making a bean wigwam and some general tidying up and weeding.
pantry sorted and stocks rotated and date labelled so I don’t have to search the packaging for dates
the smell of roast lamb with garlic and rosemary wafted from the cooker.Well Behaved women seldom make history

For yesterday (Saturday 23rd)
1. We bought a garden paddling pool (3m x 2m x 50cm). it self-inflates and to be honest its bigger than we first thought (still to be filled with water yet). But should be good fun when we have family and friends round for a dip on a hot summer's day.
2. We had a go at bowls. Looks easy on the TV, but I was out of my depth actually on the lawn itself. But still good fun.
3. Strawberries and ice cream with parents while visiting Windermere
4. Film night was my choice, "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri". Awesome!
5. Also watched some old Time Team episodes, one of which contained my parents standing with the rest of the spectators behind fencing watching Tony Robinson and his team record an episode in Bath some 20 years ago.10
