Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) A morning of cooking. I made a banana cake plus 2 batches of Jamie Oliver's veg chilli. Also part boiled some parsnips (for the freezer) and boiled some potatoes ready for Jansen's Temptation.
3) Newer neighbours had cleaned their shed out of logs and were stunned to find the toilet that was underneath! (I knew it was there because when my friend at primary school lived in their house, it was the only toilet!)
4) Smaller son and I went to art deco cinema to watch Phantom of the Open, which we both enjoyed.
5) Going to watch HIGNFY now.
And 6) The footballer in our team whose leg got broken in front of us has walked for the first time in 2 months today.11 -
seems to be a bit of a parsnip theme going on
1) a very nice minestrone soup for lunch, with a spoon of lazy chilli added, yum
2) finally got out at 5:30, glorious evening and a drink with friends
3) then a kebab with one of them before dashing home for online book club (Shackleton's boat journey, very good)
4) then a super long walk with the boys, enjoyed the red sky
5) then home to stewed rhubarb from mum's garden, HIGNFY and now listening to the news quiz in bedMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Frith So sorry to read about your hens.
1 I cleaned all the ferret areas always nice when done, also another ferret milestone to bore you with, our old chap 9 years old refuses to use the tube to go upstairs so we took it away, I painted the stairs and we put stick down stair treads on the middle, looks great to what it was and was supposed to be for him. It took him a month to get used to the change and last night he made it all the way upstairs on his own I came down to get him and he was already ensconced under our bed, no mean feat as he’s treated with painkillers for bad back leg arthritis.
2 Started to air out the caravan and take everything out to wash / clean, the idea of getting away again feels amazing.
3 Made a chocolate cake and of course had a slice with a camomile tea.
4 Oven fish and chips.
5 Reading a book that has also inspired some more writing.

Love hearing about your little ones PK
For yesterday,
Seem to have picked up a lurgy from somewhere, did a test and negative for now, but chesty cough and achey so quiet day at home.
Hot honey and lemon, very soothing.
Reading my book, Dominion by CJ Sansom, interesting concept about what would have happened if we had surrendered in 1940.
Thank goodness for batch cooking, HM lasagne out of the freezer and heated up for tea.
Bed, clean sheets and plenty of Vicks!

For yesterday
1. A dog walk and bluebells were gorgeous under the trees.
Saw loads of deer - all behind the deer fences this time.
2. Chat with the lady who owns the dog - pulled up a few weeds for her. It was warm though cloudy.
3. British gas came to inspect a box outside that should be inspected every 5 years. It was ok luckily but it hadn't been checked in over 30 years since we moved in here.
4. Had a massage - not as painful as it has been and feel much better for it.
5. Spoke with my parents.10 -
For Friday 22nd:-
1. Welcomed my parents for to my home for a weekend break. Took them out for a spot of lunch while sampling the countryside,
2. Thinking of a 4 week vacation in Bloemfontein (my PoB) in November or December (their summer). Will be my first trip there for over 2 years no thanks to C19.
3. Cleared out a load of old lipsticks, bottles of nail varnish (and remover), combs, brushes, grips, vanity mirrors, sunglasses and a whole lot more from my various bags, drawers and cases.
4. Eating a rather scrummy home-made Chicken Tika Masala (followed by Cornish ice cream and grated Easter egg chocolate)
5. Playing on the Wii for a couple of hours with parents and partner. All rather manic in a relatively small 3rd bedroom/games room.12 -
Another week gone by, I don’t know where the time goes!
Anyway recent pleasures:
The lurgy has finally done one after about 4 weeks so feeling slightly more energetic!
some outstanding jobs finally got done - haircut, eyebrows sorted, kitchen floor thoroughly cleaned 😂
Also finally contacted the doctor a couple of weeks ago and sent him a photo of my poor, red spotty face which had been getting worse for over 2 years! I had seen an article on tv with a doctor talking about rosacea and the picture looked just like my skin! My GP confirmed and prescribed long course of antibiotics, said would be a long job, and 3 weeks later, my skin is 70% better 😊
Shopping done and bought a new pair of curtains for the landing which match my other new curtains (much cheaper as ready made this time) and on Friday I will finally have curtains back in my bedroom as having new track fitted as well as new ones for the landing and front and back doors to prepare for the winter and hopefully cut down on energy use.
Walk with friend yesterday to hopefully see the herons nesting. We took our fold up chairs, lunch and binoculars with high hopes. The wind was freeezing and after half an hour we were about to give up when we finally saw to 2 little egrets and 2 herons 😊. We then moved on to a more sheltered spot to eat our lunch. As our bird watch was cut short we had a mooch around a nearby garden centre and came away with a tray of pansies each.
House and garden day today, planning to pot on my runner beans and chard and beautify my pots and hanging baskets with pansies and fuschias.
Have a great weekend everyone 😊

Morning all. I've kept meaning to post and being distracted and now I've found myself catching up on 10 pages of your posts all in one go (which has been lovely).
Five recent pleasures:
1. Very much enjoying the behind the scenes at the V&A programmes on iplayer.
2. Bluebells are blossoming in the garden.
3. Getting tons of filing done.
4. Picking up a book for free at our local swap shop. I'd only popped in to drop off some bits and I didn't linger but I spotted the book which I'd been meaning to read so treated myself.
5. Rediscovered a very colourful necklace of mine that I'd forgotten about so am wearing it now.
Enjoy your Saturday!

Hello. Approaching bedtime…not quite but was up and at ‘em at 4am this morning so looking forward to my bed!A couple of hours work first thing, was still dark when I went in but a lovely bright morning when I came out.Home with 6 new houseplants! Nipped in to supermarket and they had them reduced to 68p so home they came, had a good soak in the sink and they’ve perked up already.Niece texted. Are you in? Er, will be in half an hour or so. And they arrived at 7.45am and stayed for almost 6 hours! However we went down to our woodlands which I’m ashamed to say I’ve not been this year. Had a lovely walk and we did see herons nesting Paulie. Great nephew was singing five little ducks to the ducks. Then we went up to favourite castle and we had a filled roll for breakfast and then we had a nice wander round. Also found bluebells. Was such a lovely bright morning but such a cool wind.Back home and GN had a nap so niece and I had a chance to chatter. They went away, sighed at the silence. And took myself and my sun hat to the garden sofa and had a wee snooze.Chat to friend for an hour ( had chatted for an hour last night! We always have something to talk about)
Just had a chicken pasta meal from freezer that I’d got in a too good to go bag.And I’m just going to nip to supermarket for some chicken as doggy has a delicate tummy! Both ends! Gah!11
