Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) The handyman didn't turn up but he did phone to say he is ill and will appear next Tuesday. I had left the hoovering etc as his work will create mess and dust but I can't leave it for another week so will tidy up tomorrow.
3) I watched a zoom lecture about the workings of our local crown court. I have been in, but only to get divorced.
4) Smaller son was in a good mood when I picked him up from college. First day for 3 weeks due to having coronavirus then the Easter holidays.
5) I went to M and S to have a cup of tea. Second day of the Blood Sugar Diet (hereafter BSD) so nothing else for me. Eating going well.
6) Saw a footballer from our team as I was sitting in the car before going in to M and S. They must be used to people recognising them and looking at them, so he gave me a little nod of the head. Thank goodness I was not wearing the t shirt with the picture of him on it!
Had my cup of tea in M and S.
Came out and went back to the car and there were 5 footballers standing in the sunshine with their cars next to mine! They also knew I recognised them, I think. The football scarf was across the parcel shelf of the car and I had to force myself not to wave it around. I wrote a tweet later about how funny it was to keep bumping into them all and it has taken off in "likes" and the mum of one of them has said I should have done some waving.
7) ALSO, while in M and S ! Smaller son's biology teacher phoned to say he had sat a mock this morning and she had marked it almost immediately and he got a level 5. That is 2 marks up from when he last took his GCSEs and he had a Chinese takeaway this evening for his efforts (while I ate my salad...) Hopefully this will spur him on to more revision. 3 weeks until his first exam.
8) In bed with 1 hwb and watched the homebirth series on BBC2. Good to finally see a sensible programme about it, 18 years after having one.12 -

Art'noon all - more procrastination from the marking
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Food in the fridge and virtually no-one in the supermarket while i fetched it.
2. started the marking - i've a month or so of it 🙄
3. washing on the line
4. Watched a couple of episodes of 'THe Split'
5. Sorted out DS's work trousers, his Oxfam stewarding profile and fed him something healthy - honestly, what do men do when they've no mothers on hand...
Have a great afternoon all.I wanna be in the room where it happens11 -
Evening all
mrs_motivated, I love the idea of finding a tenner because you were looking for a bag to deal with your dog's poo. I'm wondering how financial rewards like this could randomly be introduced as incentive in our village.
Five recent pleasures from me:
1. Made an absolutely gorgeous slightly spiced butternut soup (with a couple of portions for the freezer) yesterday with the squash that has been sitting around looking bored in the kitchen for about 2 months. They keep so well.
2. My anti-procrastination paperwork project is continuing apace.
3. A lovely phone call with a man from the DWP sorting out a minor pension-related mistake I'd made. Wished we could have stayed chatting for a bit longer!
4. Just discovered that there's a film coming out about the artist, Eric Ravilious, on 1 July. I love his work and I never go to the cinema nowadays but I think I'll find some cash (another book sale?) to make an exception for this one if it's showing anywhere nearby. https://www.foxtrotfilms.com/films/eric-ravilious-drawn-to-war/
5. DS1 has had a good pay rise and a move from p/t to f/t. Pleased for him - he only took the job as a stop-gap but will see it through now until the autumn when his contract ends.
Sweet dreams,
Bx

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Smaller son went to college and did a maths GCSE paper and played badminton.
3) I cleaned the downstairs of the house - windows, floors, stairs, blackleaded the stove etc. Also emptied and cleaned the bookcase on the landing, which was very dusty. Changed one bunk bed and did 2 loads of washing.
4) Still sticking to BSD. Had a mushroom and chestnut hotpot for tea.
5) A brand new geocache had been uploaded and was in the next village. I went to look for it and was the first person to find it.
6) Went round the charity shops and got 2 North Face t shirts for bigger son and a Worcester rugby club shirt for my brother.
7) Watched the Great British Sewing Bee.12 -
Oooh late night by my standards
Was a dull start to the day then was roasty toasty ( by Scottish standards!) this afternoon. I moved my garden sofa a few weeks ago and oh it’s such a wee cosy corner it’s now in! Lovely!Nice doggy walk but oh he just wants to sniff and I want to walk! Then into town which was a bit of a disappointing visit as I couldn’t get what I was after ( a particular gift for someone )
Home and cut the grass.Read for a wee while outside.Made a pavlova and some lemonade scones and then some lemon curd as I had a spare two lemons and the egg yolks from using the egg whites for pavlova. Then it was mad dash time to get showered and changed and out and back into town to collect food for a work do and then a nice evening.Popped into supermarket to see if there were any bargains. Got 2 bags of parsnips at 5p each and 2 RTC bunches of flowers.Chat to friend on phone.
and bed!13 -

Busy day today but still managed to sneak a few pleasures in.
1. Lovely chat with DD before she goes on holiday.
2. Still managing a poem a day and started on a new book called Three Women by Lisa Taddeo which I’m really enjoying.
3. Seed swapping session with the neighbour.
4. Lovely walk with the dogs although much cooler here today and sadly no tenner when erm…poo picking.
5. Last of the chocolate cake went down well with a nice cuppa while curled up on the sofaWell Behaved women seldom make history

Good morning - very grey here
Sorted out little bedroom/ dumping ground. Bag of things to go to charity shop, and can now see the bed!
Wrapped DGS birthday presents. Whose daft idea was it to get him a football?!
Found a skirt. Why does no one sell skirts anymore? A few minis and some Little House on the Prairie but no ordinary skirts. I guess no one wears them. Anyway, found a denim one. Too long but can shorten. Think I'll start making them myself!
My iron died so I got a new one. One of the instructions is 'Do not iron clothes while wearing them'. Now there's something I'd never considered.
Sewing Bee is back. And it's from Leeds too. Good stuff!
Happy Thursday everyone
