Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) A slightly better sleep.
2) Smaller son went to college.
3) Hens OK and I moved some food up from the bin in their old pen to the new.
4) Did the charity shops in Floody City and bought a squirrel for my sister's Forest School and a red North Face fleecy jumper for me.
5) Went to Waitrose for a cup of tea.
6) Collected smaller son at 12.
7) Made a beef casserole with 3 portions for the freezer.
8) Smaller son and I went to watch the football. Not the FA Cup this time but back to the National League North. A 2-1 win tonight.11 -
Happy birthday Ampersand
1. Work today - having to be isolated from others at work does have some advantages. A colleague who has recently recovered from Covid kept me company.
2. Saw an Occupational health doctor who have me good advice and hopefully my manager will listen as what he suggests may be free!
3. DH last day of isolation. He is feeling much happier.
4. A friend went out for coffee with a group of people she has met. She needed a nudge to go but enjoyed it.
5. Toad in the hole for tea.11 -
Hello all - I've been away (Gran Canaria) but came back last night.
Happy birthday ampersand
glad son's eye is ok, Frith
Glad the positives are not too poorly
Recent pleasures
1. Warm sunshine - 22 - 25 degrees and mostly sunny. Bliss
2. Stunning scenery - if you go away from the resorts, the island is just beautiful. Some really scary roads though ..😳😱
3. Some good mountain walks had. Again, a couple of scary parts...
4. went to watch Las Palmas de Gran Canaria v Almeria football. Was a 1 - 1 draw which is a good result for LP apparently. It's always an interesting watch when you are neutral.
5. Some lovely food - both cooked 'at home' and while out.
6. Decent flights, despite a 'Lanzarote 2 step' on the way out. It earned us a free breakfast though.
7. Just the 'being abroad-ness' of being abroad. I've really missed it.
8. Have read LOADS of books.
9. The rule change on isolation on return means that i can go and get some food in. We will still keep ourselves to ourselves until we get the PCR results back though.
10. DD collected us from the airport - i missed her (She was offered to come but declined, DS came with us). A curry ordered for when we got home.
Back to normal today 🥶😥I wanna be in the room where it happens11 -
Good morning
Happy birthday Ampersand. May the gifts keep coming to prolong the happy day. My birthdays seem to last at least a week nowadays!
Welcome back VJ'S mum. Slightly green- eyed here !
Don't know if I dare say this 'out loud', but I think things are gradually getting back to normal here. Aftermath of the burglary all sorted apart from replacing jewellery. DH making good progress and now champing at the bit because I won't let him do anything that involves lifting.
Bought a blender ( cheap version) yesterday to have a go at making soup. I'm not a big soup fan but maybe I'll like home-made. From what you all say, it's a good way to use things up and I'm all for that.
Happy Tuesday everyone11 -
Welcome home VJSMum
Glad to hear that things are feeling better HappyCas.
For yesterday,
The first dog walk of the day was a very wet one and not a pleasure but coming home, drying off and having breakfast was.
Cleaned the bathrooms and tackled the understairs cupboard which is our designated dumping place.
Watched two episodes of the final series of A Discovery of Witches, I read the books a few years back and the magical special effects are worth a look.
Saw the beautiful grey one.
Baked Butternut Squash with onions and tallegio for tea, also watched Digging For Britain as it featured the dinosaur find at Rutland Water.

Lazy bones me , just getting up now. Awoken by a dog wanting out at 2.30am and struggled to get back to sleep. Anyway I’m up! I am.Yesterday was a more pleasant day weather wise. Nice to see a smidge of sunshine and no rain.
Went to an old neighbour’s funeral service yesterday morning which whilst a bit sad was a celebration of a long life lived well. And we had a lovely catch up with our old next door neighbours who I think were our favourite neighbours ever! Took their photo to send to DD1 to make her happy and it did😊
Filled car up with petrol. Would have been done before Christmas but car never went anywhere so that saved a bit of money! Then we went for lunch ( which did not save any money but we haven’t been out in ages!) had pate and lasagne. DD2 had my garlic bread and I had some of her chips! Raised a glass to our old neighbour!Popped in to mum on way home, I think that’s why I’m taigling ( Scottish for being slow) this morning as I’m going round to tidy after 3 full weeks of nothing being done! Gah!Then home, had a lie down but didn’t sleep.Popped out to get a too good to go bag. The makings of a couple of meals in it. Popped in freezer.Made sausages and roasted leftover baked potatoes/ parsnips, carrots and sweet corn for tea. DD2 boyfriend joined us for dinner.Nice chat to friend on phone.Definitely going to move now! Have a good day12 -
Oh & did not get the tin cans and string to work on her birthday!
DD Kitty when we got her would let off like yous never seen! I fear Sprouts, a non food, does the same!
Beef Casserole, still not talking to yous about football!
Oh on the footie VJ, went to the Iran v Iraq World Cup eliminator in Doha October '93. There was no love lost on the field that day! I can still see the yellow card coming out in the first minute!
Dog walks.
Butternut squash with onions. I see the boutique store is selling non cry onions! That is again a non food. Onions are meant to be strong!
I see Mhags is on a duvet day!
Snorkers and bitsers for supper! And now for this ...
Right watt four with the football! I could write, but I will give you the clean version! USELESS! Wobbleade and cheeses were taken, thank goodness! Should have gotten more wobbleade!
Still while listening to the footie, we did watch the holiday snaps! So not all two bad!
Had mid-week brakefest of poached egg and chestnut mushrooms, with another mug of tee!
Cleaned the decks this morning eventually we got a new mop bucket as the previous one had seen better days, chased kitty with it and all done before MHags arose! Kitty had her monthly visit two the conservatory, to cold to keep open all year! Mind you, with the frost prevention on, it remains dry!
Watched some bash, not the SA cricket! Tea is mugged again, and soon Ham sandwich for luncheon!
Jen sends her reagrds!
Keep Sage!!!
Gosh is difficult gotting words rong in new bowser! It is to correct four me!
I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!12 -
All gone again, 😖 - 20 miles from &squat.

Hello
Been another dry day here, not cold nor mild but was a tad overdressed for the first doggy walk and had my sleeves rolled up as I was too warm.Nice walk.Round to the mothers. Not particularly a pleasure as there was much cleaning to be done. Then popped into supermarket on way home, for some veg and some pretty yellow tulips.
Met a friend on way out and had a nice chatter with her.Home and hello doggy!Had a nice dinner of gammon joint, mashed potatoes, broccoli, carrots and sprouts ( real food)
Came up to bed early. Watched an odd film ‘The lost Daughter’ persevered until the end.12
