Good morning
PK - sympathies for bad back. I hope, like my latest one did, it just suddenly vanishes.
D Doll - very wise to save your leave for when you're allowed out.
Yesterday was cold but very bright and fresh so we went for a walk. First time DH has been outside in 10 days and first walk since Christmas Eve. We took our time and he managed very well. Treated ourselves with coffee and cake afterwards.
Ham and pea risotto with leftover Christmas ham. Lots of risotto and pies on the horizon I think as I froze all the cooked meat when DH went into hospital.
Watched Remains of the Day. Again! If they did Desert Island Films, that would be one of mine.
Happy 🌞 day everyone11 -
Ouchie on the back PK, re the bread proving, my boiler cupboard doubles up as a proving drawer on cold days.
For yesterday,
Filled up car, not a pleasure really as the prices still don’t seem to be reflecting the drop in oil prices, ggrrr
Off to cathedral city, the ship of the fens looked magnificent against the blue sky and it was good to have a walk round, popped into a couple of CS’s but nothing caught my eye. I did get a pair of thick, cable socks which were on sale.
Long chat with elderly friend and arrangements made for visit next week.
Tasty tea, chicken thighs baked with miso and maple sauce, roast spuds and green beans.
Opening door for small dogs last visit to garden, the cold just hit me but the stars were lovely.

Ouches for the backs! Jen tries her Buzz!
Chix thighs, Shepards pie, ham and pesto!
The Hens are alright!
DD wait for it, BIO HAZARD!From the Bridge!
Been down the hold last few days! Well not actually, but seriously reduced the unsocial media presence in the last few weaks! Will keep here in the Parish borough! I was only posting nonsense anyway! Mind you lot would had realised? Will keep the posting here going as it adds to me nonsense! So in the last few days!
Nearly finished the yule log, but the xmas cake continues to provide its goodness! Was soaked in bourbon to keep you lively!
Watched the Sam Neill thing on Captain Cook! Very good. Court up with the Uni Challenge and watched a film, Pain and Gain. Waters were taken and some cheeses eaten as well! As usual, cheeses are store on the cheese bored, the refrigerator is for the fiery fizzy waters!
Back door latch spring has decided not to play ball and will be replaced very soon! Heed this space! Not just yet as it is boooooming freezing outside and I has to watch me big toe!
I sat with the Albatross acting as official timekeeping and fortunately, a doddering old biddy slowed her progress to much ... I am still the holder of the Land Speed Record!
Thios morning I de-iced the car for her attempt on my record! I never use the smelly deice thing, just the scraper and luke warm water on the windscreen! Always check the wipers are loose before setting them off!
I thinks I can do this now, again! St. Cyrs! A five minute waltz from where the Admiral is on shore!

That's a nice spot, Admiral. Haven't been down that way for a few years.
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Smaller son went to college! He did English, computing and badminton.
2) I was up and away early to take my mum to have an operation to correct her cataract operation. (This is rare, don't worry anyone needing a cataract op, but she had to have it done using a different technique as she needs a corneal transplant).
3) Sat in Sainsburys having a cup of tea but they whizzed mum in early so I was back in the car by 9.30am.
4) Picked smaller son up from college at 12 and he was fixated on a new computer keyboard delivery that was 5 stops from our house. There was much annoyance at the traffic through floody city and general complaining about my driving with many enquiries as to why my speed was so low. I then hit the only decent bit of road (the last 4 miles to our house) and the criticisms and moaning continued so I said, "I don't know why you're complaining, I'm doing a steady 78". Cue much panic and leaning across the car to see the speedo and "You're doing 56!" "Yes, be quiet!!"
5) Made lots of tomato sauce for tea and 2 meals worth in the freezer.
6) Bigger son is home. One of his colleagues has tested + so we shall see how that pans out. A - test for bigger son this evening. He did get coronavirus in August so perhaps that will help.
7) Did the online pub quiz.10 -
1) slept for 9 hours 36 minutes! as my mother would say, must have needed it then I did myself a cooked breakfast (bacon, egg, tomato, mushrooms and beans, admiral would be proud) and 2 episodes of Frasier - and why not
2) last of the cauliflower and coconut soup - it gets better every day!
3) dd2 feeling poorly so made chicken stock from a bag of chicken drumsticks out of the freezer - added equal amount of the stock to a tin of heinz tomato soup and some christmas pasta shapes - by the evening she was sounding much better
4) once cooled I stripped the drumsticks and made chicken and chickpea stew - yummy - there's 2 portions left and more chicken and stock for dd2's tomato soup tomorrow
5) gbf very kindly came round to walk the dogs, bringing calpol for dd2 (he didn't tell the chemist she's 28 🤣) and I did my workout in the house. oh and i managed to declutter a couple of areas, finding some puzzle books I'd forgotten I'd got, so another good day's retreat [Deleted User] I like that way of thinking of itMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Chicken and chickpea soup sounds good DD, we are having a chook for this weekend’s roast so will pinch the idea if I may.
Hope you are doing ok Bala.
For yesterday,
Rough night so needed that first coffee.
Very cold start with hard frost but clear skies so pretty from inside ☺️Unfortunately I couldn’t stay at home and went out for provisions, emporium was nearly empty and picked up a few rtc items for the freezer. Met a pal and had a chat.
Lovely snooze on sofa.
New recipe from Christmas cookbook for tea, smoked mackerel pie, yummy.11 -
Hello. Last day of isolation! Hurrah!( day 16) And very pretty heavy snow. We had ‘thunder snow’ in middle of night , thunder and lightning and a heavy dump of snow. And then it’s been snowing heavily since early morning. Looks very pretty but I’m glad I don’t have to drive in it today.Really not done much to report last couple of days. Just pottering around and snoozing in between pottering around. Have accrued a pile for a charity shop, a clean fridge, tidy pots and pan drawers, dragged the out the front Christmas trees down the side again.Watched more episodes of The Resident ( American medical drama…I’m almost a qualified surgeon at this rate) than is good for me!Been grateful for friends checking in and seeing if we need anything. But had enough sprouts and cabbage to see us through!10

Recents! -
1. First osp right now. Re-did hwb and brought it back to bed with lazy brekkie, listening+reading. It's all lovely! When did & last do decadent this?😁🤩
2. Early start yesterday. Frosty plus! New robin - and the others - closely watched and only just waited as & refilled feeders, perching bowls, tables, nooks, scatter patches, + rtc grainy bread on garden room roof. Little chap wing-brushed and nearly landed on &'s forearm as feeder went back in walnut tree.
3. Carried on with secateurs and pruning saw. Both hibiscus, refuses-to-listen unwanted pink buddleia(yes, butterflies' friend, I know, but scrawny and spready), orange blossom and phoenix-like nepeta all had The Treatment, before & raced to...
4. .....really good midweek epiphany service.
6 janvier, date signifiante, so missing 🇫🇷 , ma belle, even more. Enjoying lovely Fauchon munch bits, cadeau de Noël from oldest northern hemisphere Uni friend.
5. Much 'birds with broken wings' wotnottery and 4hrs of 'Network Not Available' did not help anything, especially subbing/sorting rugby preview, so took self to Club and did everything there. Bitterly, fruzzily, fine swirling and grainy ice showers AGAIN, during all last night's Senior training, but great to reconnect.
(Oh well, another 'File Failed to upload' msg)
Glad I went. No match for 5 weeks and tomorrow's will be our toughest yet, against tight rivals who have not lost at home this season, comme nous!
& has decided to treat her Capricorn self and be one of many '16th players', urged to be loud and proud along the away touchline tomorrow.

Haven't been outside or checked yet, but hope 4-foot foes have feasted on their lovely new caches of pinky wheat yums, also renewed yesterday.

Wrap-around thoughts to all who post, read and lurk here - and to those who can no longer or are taking a break.
Safe personal epiphany journeys to everyone.

Thank you Lainey
Just trying to manage my feelings about the most incredible deceit and manipulation. The body blows keep coming and I am at a loss in how to protect my mother. In many ways. Just have to keep praying for help.

Watched another flix last night, The Mistletoe Promise. Very good, waters and cheeses were taken!
Official Timekeeper for the Albatross this morning! Poor start not finding her gogs, and penalty points for going through the changing lights, and slowing vans she came nowhere close to my record! By the way the return journey I managed to equal my current record! Just letting you know!
Then went out to fill our wheels up, price slightly down!
Off to Vets Breakfast, bangers, black pud, mushrooms, and the works was had. Tea was drunk and banter abound!
