1) made very nice green Thai lentil curry this morning
2) went for a run with dd2 - involves a hill - had to walk the top bit so aim is to be able to run the whole route (all street lit so good for longer nights)
3) made naan for the first time - soooooo much nicer than shop ones
4) walked the boys up to mum’s for her car with dd2 who then drove down to pick mum from the station - what a lovely grandaughter she is
5) then listened to Gershwin and Byrd on radio 3 (and now in bed with latest Peter May)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Think your friend was certainly telling you something with the candle DD.
For yesterday,
Into horsey town for a food shop, went the back way and saw a white egret next to the small river.
Visited equine pal in her field, she frisked me for carrots.
We downloaded the weekend footage from the trail cam and there was a cat, no idea where its come from as we have no nearby houses but it was obviously hunting and catching mice so it’s very welcome.
Sorted out the airing cupboard and refreshed the lavendar bags.
Caught up on GW then watched Uni Challenge.10 -
Yesterday was rough as tot was up and down all of the previous night, finally crashing out against me at....6.50am. Just in time for me to shower. Sigh. But, there were still some pleasures:
1. I found out my promotion has been approved by my team and now needs to go to HR, so I need to put a business case together. It still may not happen, but I hope so, it would be circa £10-12k extra which would mean instead of just breaking even after childcare for two kids I'll be bringing something in. It wouldn't kick in til after mat leave, but still, very hopeful it happens as it'll make a huge difference financially
2. Got a letter to say HMRC approved DH's working from home rebate so I logged on and entered our account and £121 will be coming back to us
3. The last of the guiness cake MIL made for my birthday with coffee in the morning
4. Response from mortgage provider re: a complaint we've made (being charged an ERC despite getting a new product out with them and having to change products because of one of their decisions). Looks like they're taking it seriously and looking to try and resolve. Could save us some serious cash
5. Despite being so knackered I felt ill, I managed to ignore the siren call of the local pizza place and put a frozen pizza in the oven for DD. DH and DS had beans on toast and I just didn't bother10 -
DD on a run!
LT Cat Cam! Different!
Llandudno! Orme?
M&M I knew a Partick Thistle fan when I was in the mob. His shirt kept others at bay when he went home!
Ms &, Have you got a new puta'h that you can work. Asking for a friend!
From the Gun Deck!
I suppose you're excepting a rant, with the Admiral guns blazing! No! The gunners are useless! Enough! Fiery fizzy waters and cheeses were consumed! Arteta Out!
Had seconds of the roast chicken and trimmings last night for dinner. Had a kitchen disaster as the jug to make the pan gravy slipped from the hold of the Admiral and smashed into the custard jug! Empress just laughed and the Albatross is recovering! No problem had to revert to the bowl instead! Looks like the pocket money is spent this weekend!
Just washed the Tom & Jerry curtains in the captains cabin and down the downstairs lampshades all before half past nine o'clock in the morning!
Ordered washed for the heads, so I can fix the leak! (Heads wc on the boat!)
Now with my mug of tea, apple (keeps the Doctor away!) sour grapes, cheese and a KitKat! Get the cricket on!
Jen sends a Buzz!
Keep Safe!
I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!11 -
No Admiral, same old mob., used after travels in hope of etherland being present where &'s committments oblige her to be.
Yesterday worked, 3rd time lucky, between mtgs.
1. Hurrah! Being debadgered in college salon as we speak, 😃👏❤. And &'s red streak is being reinstated. More🌹Hooray! It's down low, back of neck, on the left😁. Wonder why... 🤭
2. Arrived in rain. Sun's now out.
3. Pleasure?.... well, very important to do. Bowel cancer screening appointment letter came yesterday. I've known 4 close people who've lost out to this one in the last 10 years. Add to that Jim Al Khalili's guest, Tim Spector, on R4's The Life Scientific this morning....

4. Wrote congratulations on our🦚🏉page to one of our Top Squad Men, receiving his further Degree at the Guildhall today/tmrw. Not straightforwardly either. Left Zimbabwe to travel alone, turning down a Harare place+scholarship, to prove himself/study at Cambridge. 👌👍👏
5. Dd - if your new Peter May is Lockdown, I have it, too. Church book swap - always loads of good new titles there. Next up, after I finish Val McD's Still Life......p307 atm.

Good afternoon - just. And the morning's heavy downpours have given way to sunshine.
D Doll - spooky indeed but how lovely too
Ampersand - glad you've managed to connect!
DH is still very iffy. Two days of very upset tum and not eating at all has left him all weak and watery!! I'm still providing tlc, and a small bowl of chicken soup for lunch.
Had my flu jab yesterday. Gosh, my arm hurt! Only for about 12 hours, but bad at the time. Now it's just a dull ache. No other side effects though so that's good.
Watched Only Connect but didn't do very well this week. Not that I'm ever brilliant but I usually manage two or three. Missing vowels is my forte. Usually!
I'm thinking of treating myself to another Nigel Slater book for my birthday. I got Christmas Chronicles last year. Any suggestions for my next treat? Thank you in advance.
Happy Tuesday everyone

HappyCas - can’t really go wrong with any Mr Slater’s books but his new one, A Cook’s book, is getting rave reviews and is on my festive list.10

As is customary, @Happycas - I feel duty bound to tell you that Nigel Slater went to my school!
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Smaller son went to college (more on that later).
3) Generally messed up my money. There is still not enough really, but matters will improve without the mortgage. I booked in builders for Friday then saw an enormous electricity bill will come out of my account tomorrow. Then another disaster today. Messaged the builder and he's OK about paying half on Friday then half the following week. I've never had to ask that before and didn't particularly like having to do it.
4) Hens OK.
5) Stopped in Waitrose and had a pot of tea and worked through paperwork for smaller son's EHCP review tomorrow.
6) Got to college at midday and smaller son walked to the car and noticed I had a completely flat tyre! A man came out to help and I had an awkward 5 minutes with he and smaller son talking to me at the same time. My replies went like this: Yes, it is a puny little jack... let's talk about college later, shall we?... yes, here's the spanner... no, we don't describe teachers using THAT word... yes, something for you to kneel on... I'm sure you don't want to come here ever again, just wait patiently... yes, thank you!
7) I took my mileage form in to college, got paid by Ebay and cashed in my Quidco "earnings" which should all help, though not by Friday.
8) Took the wheel to the garage and it is the wheel that has rusted through (the car is 19) so that will be £60+ Tyre is OK, it was new for the MOT last month.
9) Posted the last Ebay parcel.
10) Then an email arrived. I had planned our trip to Manchester carefully and Man Utd have changed the day of the match! What a palaver. I went back to the company who I had booked the match/hotel combo with and rebooked the hotel and it will be £33 cheaper!
11) In bed with 1 hwb now ready for GBBO and Holby City.
12) Just phoned bigger son so I know when to make his dentist appointment for him (appointment number 12 - his false tooth is no longer fixed on one side).11 -
happycas i was on fire on the food round of missing vowels a couple of weeks ago. Not one missed. I don't know if being pregnant means that everything makes me think of food so my mind is quick to join the dots! Usually I'm rubbish.
My pleasures:
1. Applied for my working from home tax rebate. I'm only on 20% tax rate so mine will be more like £60, less than DHs £120 but I'll take it!
2. Accepted a 2 hour engagement for side gig end of Nov, probably last thing I'll do before mat leave. Will be £200 gross so that's good for the budget!
3. Got two books in the post from a friend for my birthday. Have tucked them away for mat leave
4. Supper - vegan kievs, baby potatoes, asparagus, roasted tomatoes and kalamata olives. Yes, horribly out of season but it's what I wanted for my fancy birthday meal, which I won't have time to eat on my actual birthday because of French class!
5. A glass of nosecco and some online shopping. Got a gorgeous poetry book for my sister's birthday and have a couple of bits in my basket for DH for Xmas (he needs a new belt and wallet and I've found a maker on Etsy that makes them from recycled bicycle inner tubes)

Not sure why I didn’t post last night but here are my Tuesday thoughts!Up early just because that’s when my body wakes up!Doggy had vets for annual vaccination. Paid monthly on a pet plan so no big cost…the allergy meds however are a big cost but that is also accounted for monthly. Just as well he loves the vets! Then we went a rather soggy walk to big park. Very muddy and very rainy, picked up a few more conkers. Think we’ve got plenty but they’re just sooo pretty! Then I was following DD2 car as she was going for MOT when my mums neighbour phoned so I’d to detour to mums, quickly, problem solved and then go on and get DD2.Went out for breakfast which was very nice then back to get the failed MOT car. 😟
I said ask if they can do my windscreen wipers…took the guy about 45 minutes to change them! And not that I could do it myself but really 45 minutes? Anyway I can now see in the rain! It’s a modern day miracle!Home. Hello doggy.Round to mums for a bit. I did not venture in to the kitchen but just sat and chatted.Chat to friend on phone later and just about to chat to friend in Melbourne.Just daylight here and a beautiful sky. Currently dry!12
