For yesterday,
Up early to wave goodbye to Capt S who was driving up to see DSS’s then all on together to watch a football match.
Long, leisurely bath reading my book.
Caught up on all things Ambridge then listened to Deborah Meaden on DID.Text from beloved to say small surprise for me in desk drawer, box of chocs! he is such a sweetie.
Raked lawn next to field and threw around a few handfuls of wildflower seeds, lovely afternoon so took small dog round the fields then sat in the sun and watched the leaves coming down from the beech trees. Back in the house to find another text from Capt S to say don’t worry, they are all fine after someone was taken ill in the crowd at the match.
Quiet evening by myself, watched The Larkins and had a few chocs.12 -
Thanks mhags - the pain of the loss is far far far outweighed (and I guess due to) the joy of his friendship - a lovely lovely man affectionately known to all who knew him as a right miserable git, but he had a dry humour and a wonderfully cheeky smiley face - didn't surprise me one of his fave books was Just William, a copy of which he gave me earlier this year and he'd written 'the original anarchy in the UK' in the front.
1) lit a candle for my friend - said 'I know you're a protestant atheist so if you don't like me lighting the candle let me know' at which point the sound system (the choir was rehearsing pre-service) had the worst attack of interference ever. To use a lovely Dundee expression, i said to him 'well that's me telt!' at which the interference stopped and didn't happen again all service.
2) mr l for flour, organic milk and some veg - under a tenner and mainly local produce (couldn't see a label on the flour)
3) weather meh - after pruning to fill my brown bin for Wednesday spent a very happy 2 hours on the piano (found my Czerny, my left hand has certainly weakened!)
4) then listened to my friend's copy of St Matthews passion - his desert island disk
5) then mennies to join others to have a drink in his memory. a couple of weeks ago there'd been a spat between dr m and a young barmaid there who fancies the socks and no doubt more off him and he said he wasn't going to drink there any more so was pleased to see them both there (she off duty), albeit (or indeed wisely) opposite ends of the table. The lads on the sofa seat squidged up to make space for me which meant when n left I was next to dr m and she came sat next to me, giving me lots of hugs. When she'd gone for a smoke I mischievously said if he wanted her to drape herself over him rather than me just let me know and I'll switch places. he grinned, said he didn't, apologised for not letting me know he'd watched the Scotland match at the Taybridge Bar on Tuesday, thinking I'd have been at home watching Engerland on terrestrial, and I am hoping things are now back to normal. We walked home together and he said he'd try to make it for the Leicester game Wednesday afternoon - this will depend for both of us on online meetings as I myself now have one at 3 I'm hoping to wrap up quickly!

M&M Not on the cake, just grease the tin and push out! The pud goes into a bowl, topped with baking paper, then covered in foil. When steamed (We do not have a nuclear device), remove foil and paper, add new paper and foil. We steam the pud on xmas day for about 6 pm and pour over the bourbon and light it! Then the bourbon sauce adds a but of warmth to me on the day!
Good to see them hens not playing up! Oh when you've done the cleaning, the ship's deck needs a scrub!
DD I will have to get my eye tested, read yours as a toast of Asparagus soup!
From the Quarterdeck!
Took the Albatross to work this morning, then headed to the discount surplus store for provisions and cheeses! Empress got her food as well. My she is such a messy eater, when drops it on the floor! What a mess. I brushed her yesterday!
Stirred the pud and cake mix. Will be steaming this weekend!
Had roast chicken yesterday for dinner. We got it from the discount surplus store and compared to the surplus store W, I can see it being closed when our other discount place opens! Served with rosemary roast tatties, cauliflower and carrots. We has stuffing and pigs in blankets!
Continued to watch the background for Apocalypse Now! I did not know that the home cinema 5:1 that you have at home was actually trialled on that film! Still can remember our Inglish teacher telling us about the book and how he waited for the film. By the time it came out I could legally see it! I had left skool by then!
Now sat watching the cricket with my cheese, grapes and mug of tea!
Jen sends her buzz!
Keep Safe!I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!12 -

DD your post made me laugh especially the Protestant atheist bit. In England I was non religious and here in NI I'm all of a sudden a Catholic atheist. No one had ever really been interested in what building I did or didn't attend on Sunday back home. My dad is North African Muslim too so the term mixed marriage to describe two white Christians was a bit of a surprise to me too!

On verra.....through the lumpy rain.

1. 9 pages of osps thoroughly read, for which Thankyou everyone. Certainly, all the cycle of life is here. &, too, had a difficult funeral last week.
2. Early Booster jab this morning, Town of Gown. As with first 2, barely aware. Well done by brown-eyed Tim.
3. Peculiar perspective from rough carpark behind CU Colleges' boathouse meant a swan swam over stones and an 8s' overheaded boat rowed the sky.
Someone might know what & means,😁.
4. Busy of late with various translation things, plus 🏉writing+sub-editing for Club. 1st losses this season for both top squad teams, both away, therefore no longer top of League - a 33-0 wipe out! and a close 22-21, with 13 men for 70 minutes after injuries and no subs. available. Luckily, close 2nd place rivals were held to a draw, so we sit 3rd - perhaps more fortunate than deserved. At least no Air Ambulance this weekend. Last 2, yes.....😬
5. Spot Mr Grey Heron. River's busy today, despite change-down weather. Many and various rowers, coot+tern teens and parents, ducks ditto and many swans. Cattle grazing across the water on Stourbridge Common, umpteen dogs, walkers, cyclists.....
Good space -
Edited post your comments, Suffolk Sue,😃. He's a big fella, this one.
Also, seeing tangles as new rowers learn to turn their boats is not uncommon, viz this Ladies' 8, with oncoming single sculler, a mixed 4 and now a blokies' 8 all wearing hoodies!...such softies😗.
Raining still and it's not Dan Topolski pedalling on his bankside bike in front of me.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Hello. And workety work is done for another week or thereabouts! See if anything else crops up.So dark this morning. So had to walk in the dark ( though it’s mainly got streetlights where I walk ( just one bit where I walk very quickly with an eye ahead and an eye behind). But nice to be out with my doggy boy, listening to the birds and seeing the leaves glisten on the ground. Then into work and the day went by quick enough. Glad it’s over though. Good company today.Tips. Meh! But more than I had this morning.Nipped in to supermarket on way home and got a couple of RTC chrysanthemum plants.Home and yoohoo doggy! I’ve missed you too. Currently snuggled up at my feet.Flashed headlights at DD2 as she was on her way out as I was on my way home.9
