Good morning
Wow D Doll - now poetry. You have so many strings to your bow. A Renaissance woman in our midst!
Frith - good for you! Assertive, not aggressive. Way to go.
Yesterday was haircut day. Since lockdown I tend to go longer between cuts. The sky doesn't fall in but it does look a bit sorry for itself for the last week or so, so it's good to get it done.
We've booked a holiday. Still not sure if it's the right thing to do but I had visions of getting to next March, something happening and saying, ' We should have had that holiday last year!' so we're going to sunny Spain!
Amazing how much paperwork that has created. I'm doing one thing per day until it's done.
More prepping and planning today, not least checking out the summer clothes which I'd washed and put away for winter.
Happy Friday everyone

Ha, love the poem DD.
For yesterday,
We got 5 out of 5 in the morning quiz, which included me recognising the lyrics to The one and Only by Chesney Hawkes, oh the shame 😉
Walked and grazed my girlie in hand for an hour, her weight bearing and mobility on the poorly leg is improving every day.
Cleared out the crockery cupboard, sounds posh but it’s really just a cupboard in the dining room where everything that hasn’t got a home gets put, a few bits of china inherited from grandparents, vases, plus seasonal decs etc.
Tasty tea, feta and chorizo frittata.
Also watched Ambulance, ouch to the ankle but like most equestrians he was more worried about his horse.

Jen sends a buzz to the Physio
2 Job day! Glad I no longer have to do that! Make sure you get thanks, and not just in words! Think Pocket! Oh, I wired our house with Ethernet a few years back. Far easier!
Shepherds pie, with gravy? Pumpkin soups!
DD I was just testing!!!! Big Match is live on the thing tomorrow lunch! That poem reminds me of a Tom and Jerry cartoon!
Good to see Mhags Pottering!
Easy on the Strawberries M&M
Shore Leave!
Just back for the Veterans breakfast this morning. Lady at the local inn does us all proud and gave the usual banger, best back, black pudding mushrooms and toms. Plenty of chin wagging and loads of tea was consumed! The world has been righted as well!
Still annoyed that those in Social Care system insist that our old comrades apply on line! They do not like it. get the paperwork out and visit them. That is them Social workers put in their place again! Is the same with ripping them off for the TV licence! It might be easy of you are at work behind the inanimate object, but they never think of others! RANT OVER!
Next? Just add here if you ...
Took the Albatross to her work this morning, did the shop at the local discount surplus store as well. We have chicken in this week as well as a breakfast. Special chicken coming up. Other surplus shop, W sent a voucher in the post. So we went out and got the xmas cake fruit band icing, and the pud mix. I see they were putting out some thing like a 36 month matured pudding. I bet! Please avoid. The Admiral makes his own and recipe available tomorrow, after the big match!
As we had the voucher, we got some bacon, and chips and had egg, bacon and chips for dinner, sat at the captain's table as usual!
Empress was bushed and well fed as well!
Jen sends a buzz!
Keep safe!
While we are looking for aliens, what would happen if we meet humans from another planet!I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!11 -
MandM90 said:Not sure where else to ask: I've just realised that during my MSE break JackieO left the board. Hoping she's okay and just decided not to come back? Does anyone know? Very sorry to see her go. She was one of my favourite posters.JackieO was one of a number of OS posters who left when MSE changed to the Vanilla platform and is much missed. Her wish was always to move to her beloved IOW where she and her family used to holiday. not sure if she got there but it was still her intemtion last time she postedGingham Ribbon posted lots of Vegetarian Recipies which together with many other recipies , hints and tips , discussions on gadgets. Homemade cleaning products and many other OS things were a labour of love by dear much missed Squeaky whose health wasn't good yet he collected an index and posts together. Last time I looked a lot of it was still on the Grocery Challenge.pollyx
It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.10 -
I remember Ginghams fab recipes well, she posted prolifically. Sadly I believe squeaky died around 5 years ago. I still think of him!
Thanks for the info re Jackie, such a shame and big loss for the forum.8 -
Hello. A roaring fire ( finally…third attempt!) behind me as I type. Was a very cold and frosty start to the day.Walked to work in the dark , a beautiful star filled sky above me.Worked for 50 minutes then home, sky a bit lighter, Grabbed my doggy and off we went a nice walk as the sun was just peeking up.Wrote a list of things to do and all that’s left is clean my bathroom. Oh and I need to wash downstairs floors too ( though that wasn’t on the list but I need to do it)
Got a bit done in the garden. An autumnal work in progress! Bulbs are now planted. Have put my mini greenhouse in the garage as it keeps blowing over in my windswept garden ( there’s always a breeze!) The big pots that had peas in them now have bulbs and are where the greenhouse was. Out the way. To do their bulby thing over winter.Went round to mums, she’s a bit brighter than she was the other week. I’ve had a few days off as my sister was here.Watched All Creatures Great and Small. If you’ve not seen it yet do watch it. It’s my treat to myself each week to just sit for an hour quietly and watch it.Had a nice tea of mince round, potatoes, red cabbage ( it’s never blooming ending) broccoli and carrots. Will be in bed early and out early.10 -
1 Managed to get most bits done, the house is clean and sort of tidy, couldn’t do the mowing as it’s still to wet out there and a few wash loads done.
2 Various expected deliveries turned up with friendly chatty delivery people, then ran a few errands, pharmacy, click and collect from Homebase for a curtain rail and a literal pop into aldee which didn’t have what we wanted. Will have to pop to Lidl instead at some point.
3 Watching birds all over the feeders.
4 Grilled chicken breast, with large salad and a smattering of new pots with mint. Delicious.
5 Cooked some cakes up for a sweet treat, mainly sugar free acutal cake but the topping has sugar.
6 Hair pack, face pack feeling more presentable.

Recent pleasures:
Meet up in local park with 2 friends and their doggies. Sausage in roll for lunch in beautiful sunshine (Monday).
On Tuesday, walk with friend round big lake in country park.
Wednesday I went to sign my will then on to yoga (2nd class, I can’t do a lot of it) then a chicken roll in cafe with walk friend. Didn’t stay long as noise/acoustics in the cafe were giving me a headache.
Builder in and out doing bits like putting up light fittings, it seems never ending as they have been coming and going. Putting up the curtain track around my bay window was a fail but I went to Dunelm today and ordered made to measure curtains and their fitting service including putting up a curtain track. Will be well worth the extra money 💰to avoid the hassle.
I ticked another frog off the list today and had my flu jab 😊
Night all 💤

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) A lie in! Smaller son doesn't go to college on Fridays so didn't set the alarm.
2) Hens OK.
3) Went to charity shops in nearest town but just bought a book for my brother for Christmas (I'm getting him a selection of second hand sports autobiographies to go with his present). Sad news about the MP who was murdered. I thought about him this afternoon as I walked past my old work. I made cups of tea for 4 different MPs there over the years and I can't imagine anything so awful happening to any of them.
4) A positive email this week about smaller son (I get one every Friday). He has been working hard and getting better at badminton. Also received a level 1 certificate for Personal and Social Education in the post for him. Bigger son texted to say his new false tooth has come unattached at one side...
5) Took smaller son to Tesco.
6) Chips from the van for tea.
7) Managed to entice both cats into the house. Ginger cat hadn't been in for 8 years!11 -
