Glad all went well Villagelife.
For yesterday,
Spent some time with my horse, improvement in her lameness but she is already bored at being kept in, hid some carrots in her hay for a distraction.
A field of bright orange pumpkins.
Cold when I got home so welcome bowl of soup, think I was a tad heavy handed with the ginger but at least it had some real warmth to it!
Skeins of geese flying over the house, probably heading for the nearby wetlands for over wintering.
Did a food shop and got a few rtc bits for the freezer.11 -
Courting! The Admiral Wooooooed!
Beach Walks!
M&M Bourbon, Honey and Lemon! If that doesn't work, drink the Bourbon yourself!
Be careful of the appointments. Jen sends her Buzz!
Anchored Onshore! Near the Beach!
Had second helping of Chinese l;ast night, with sticky rice, long grain, was Mushroom chow mien with shredded pepper and the last of the yard fresh tomatoes! Then the strawberries and ioce cream and to finish a mince pie. I does like mince pies from the galley!
Watched the Engerland game yesterday. Fiery Fizzy water was consumed and cheeses eaten! Losing face with some of the opposition fans! Hmmm! Rant Over!
No cricket today! Not into IPL!
Empress is a bit upset as I put her toys on her stool and she likes the shelf now! Typical cats! We did feed her!
All is well on board!
Keep Safe!I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!9 -
Good afternoon
VLife - glad appt went well
Procrastinator - good that life is running a little more smoothly.
Yesterday - supermarket shop. Again, no noticeable shortages so no need to stockpile. Did double up on fave coffee but only cos it was half price!l
Then to outlet mall. Got MnS skirt for £9. A real bargain and exactly what I've been looking for.
Checked at drop in vaccine clinic but still a week to go before I can have my booster.
Rang poorly friend. She's been in hospital 2 weeks now and all tests are inconclusive but she is very ill. Wish they could find the cause. She's always been so positive but she's struggling now. Can't even go to visit either!
DH went to dentist for a filing this morning so now has a sore mouth. Soup for lunch! The dentist seems to have forgotten me but I'm keeping quiet for now. Will get in touch in winter when there's nothing much happening anyway.
Happy Wednesday everyone

BoP your posts always make me miss fizzy fire water
My pleasures...
1. Tea and toast in a quiet kitchen before the house woke
2. Toddler didn't wake til 4.30 this morning, bit off fuss for half an hour then down til 7. That is a very good night for us
3. DH has booked the survey for the full fibre installation (which will be free as part of the NI initiative to connect rural houses). Time to rejoin the 20th century!
4. Yummy dinner - tot ate loads. Our family is far from perfect but one thing I am proud of is that I put a home cooked meal on the table and we sit down together every day
5. Had a really good training at work today on client conversations. I love it when you think something like that is going to be Mickey mouse bull**** and you're sufficiently humbled6. Managed to prep dinner for tomorrow, and also perform a freezer audit - took everything out, labelled anything miscellaneous (sometimes with my best guess...), then made a list to aid next week's meal planning. Trying to clear the freezer a bit so I can get some nutritious meals for the post partum period in there (as opposed to such delights as whiskey cake icing, sad looking shredded raw kale and a million containers of slices lemons)11 -
Hello. Bedtime. Alarm set for silly o’clock.
Still dark walk this morning with sister and doggy.Had an early appointment so was in town very early. Early enough not to need to pay for a parking ticket.Walked through the big park to go into town, M&S and chemist then back through park which was beautifully autumnal. Then big supermarket. Then home.Sister and BIL went out, DD2 was at work. Ahhhh the bliss of a silent house. Just me and my doggy. We pottered around. Got back grass cut just as rain was starting.
Then went a big walk with sister and BIL to a place she used to go 48 years ago. We’d been talking about it this morning and I said oh it’s still there. So we walked and talked and she was glad she’d went. Then the niecelys came and we had another family dinner. I made nachos and sausages and garlic bread and roasted leftover potatoes from work. And we chatted and laughed.GN and I took the doggy a walk and chattered and laughed.I’d a lovely chat with DD1 this morning so more chatter and laughter with a few moans and groans too!11 -
1 Out and about for flu jabs all done.
2 Pondered into Cs’s for the first time in years literally, picked up a multi coloured bean bag cover that is needed as a replacement while the other is washed for a whole two pounds.
3 Nice to sit outside at a café briefly with a cuppa people watching.
4 Used up some old bananas by putting some left over reeces in it, wrapping in foil and cooking, rather delicious and old campfire fav normally with Toblerone when it was affordable.

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep. Not very well still and fainted last night stepping out of the shower, which I hadn't since I was a teenager.
2) Smaller son went to college for the 3rd day in a row! That's the first week he has been in 3 times since June. He had a good day, particularly the badminton.
3) I set to and gloss painted the (vast) airing cupboard doors, which took from 8.30 - 10.30. They are the same colour as the walls now (only in gloss). They will need another coat. I was not displeased with them. Listened to 2 podcasts while I painted.
4) Hens OK.
5) Got some little jobs done. Bigger son keeps coming home from the pub in the next village with a glass, so I collected them all up. I was then too embarrassed to go in with them so left them in their little flower patch right by the door! Took some stuff to the charity shop and went round them all in carpet town but didn't find anything.
6) Got some bits from Sainsburys.
7) Got house reasonably tidy.
8) Saw my neighbour suddenly crouch down outside and realised he was talking at great length to my cat. This is the former farm cat who only likes me so I was surprised to see her rolling around on the path, showing off! The other cat was ridiculously hungry today; they ate 12 sachets between them. He was also in a good mood and purring this evening.
8) Took smaller son to McDonalds to celebrate the huge upturn in going to college.
9) Weird pleasure but I have been realising recently that all my family members ask for little favours all the time (not my sons) which is fine, but I literally never get anything back in return. I don't expect it to all be completely equal, but it was starting to annoy me. If I ask for help, everyone is suddenly terribly busy or they forget. If I ask for help with smaller son, people think he can just "do it himself" or doesn't need any help. If I ask for help around the house/allotment, they tell me the jobs "don't need doing".
So far this year, my brother has strimmed some nettles on the allotment for me. That is it. No one else has been to the house or helped at all! But I have babysat, driven people around, dropped stuff off, read and checked paperwork and tried to clear my auntie's house out singlehandedly. Today, my sister asked me to help out at a school fair and I realised no one had ever been to any event or fair for either of my children. I've helped at 2 or 3 for niece and been to plays and so on. So I wrote back and said I am no longer helping anyone until a little bit of help comes back my way, unless there is an emergency. I did word it better than that but just saying "no" meant I was in a cold sweat by the time I had sent that.
10) Watched Grand Designs.10 -
glad your appointment went well villagelife
I love people-watching PK
1) oof back to work with a bang - sloped into 1st still in nightie with jumper pulled over (the joys of working at home), had 30 min break at 10 so put on washing and had shower, dressed but didn't have time to dry my hair - boss noticed at my next meeting lol
2) lunch was using up bits and pieces in the fridge - very tasty
3) after work walked ds down to station - we got there early so had a coffee
4) then mrt on the way back for milk (much needed) and a culinary pumpkin to make my pumpkin soup - the kitchen is now filled with yummy smells
5) lovely walk back along by the river - I do love the TayMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
25 for 25: 127 / 625
declutter: 173 / 2025
frogs eaten: 611 -
Wow frith that sounds like a really positive turning point!!
I need to do similar but with own mother. She is only early 60s and basically only turns up when she needs something. Earlier this year she borrowed several thousand pounds (she did give it back), all the times she's stayed it's because she needs to access rental properties she owns near me and she's always asking me to go on viewings etc. I viewed some for her earlier this year whilst pregnant, breastfeeding and moving house myself and rang her with long assessments and she didn't even call me back until 2 weeks later to ask me to see another couple 20 miles away over my weekend...I work all week!
Couple that with the fact last year was my 30th, in lockdown, and she didn't even send me a card...on her 60th I cooked and transported a whole buffet for 150 for her party and bought her a gift (and she didn't say thank you....)11 -
Frith- good for you.
1. Survived work. It did seem like surviving too. The pleasure was leaving at the end of the day.
2. Messages with a friend throughout the day - it got me through it.
3. Thai fish cakes for tea.
4. Had a snooze on the sofa.
5. Reading my book.9
