laineyT we wondered about the red hair too. I kept waiting for Vicky CM to make a joke about it but...nothing. I hope it's not health related!!
My 5 pleasures1. No fuel panicking here which is a relief living so rurally! Tank is full and no queues anywhere. I need to fill the Jerry can for the ride on mower but no way am I risking looking like an eejit, so will wait a week.2. Ordered a small bundle of maternity clothes on Vinted. My 2 leggings and few other bits were not cutting the mustard. Got 2 more, a top and 2 dresses delivered for £18 which isn't too bad and better for the planet!
3. Forgot I booked the Tesco shop for tomorrow not today, so had to root around to feed us. Have HM over chips and HM bean burgers in the oven and everyone is actually v. excited about it!
4. Last night we snuggled in bed, with scented candles and...watched Only Connect! Toddler slept most of the night which was a relief to my 6 month pregnant, knackered from work, self!
5. Finding my way back to old style. Apparently I last posted 200 pages ago on this thread...yikes!11 -
Good evening
Ampersand - hope all is well and it's just pesky technology keeping you away
Back home yesterday after a lovely few days of fresh sea air.
Tonight we are going out. Properly out! But I'm beginning to doubt if it's worth it!
First of all - taxis. We had one booked to go to the venue and were going to get one later coming home. Then we saw about 50% of the cars queuing at the petrol pumps this morning were taxis. Ok, I'll drive!
Then what to wear. Smart/ casual? Summer dress? Black trousers and smart top. Honestly, it's so long since we went out I'm floundering!
Done my nails though. Fingers and toes so that's a start.
It's a sort of reunion for people who were friends in the sixties. Will be great when we get there, I'm sure!,
Happy bewildered day everyone11 -
MandM oh congratulations on your pregnancy, hope you’re keeping well. Did you do your big move?Hello and whilst not quite bedtime it won’t be too far off!Alarm went off at 4.30am, up and out with dog quickly then in work by 5.30am. Oooft! Home just after 9am.Went round to mums, she was still in bed and staying there so we didn’t wait too long. Quick hoover and fed cats and that was it. Went back round later.Home. And worky chap came and finished off the floor in porch so it all looks much nicer. Happy to pay for him to do a job that I couldn’t.Watched All Creatures Great and Small and it’s just so lovely. An hour of niceness.Friend who I’ve been dog walking for dropped in a stunning bouquet of flowers. Which was totally unexpected but so lovely. I was just happy to help her out.Back to mums. She was up and then went and had a shower and ate the minimum of food ( half a small slice of bread and some yogurt) will be making phone calls this week.Walk back and then walked down to friends to drop a wee gift in to her. So many doggy cuddles and my boy was a bit miffed when I got back. Nice chat with them at the doorstep.Just had snacky stuff for my tea. Can’t be bothered cooking. Just popped heating on for half an hour to take chill off and finish drying washing. Was just a bit damp from outside. Just waiting on boss dropping stuff off for tomorrow then it’s jammie time!Oh and the garden cushions are in the garage! So that was another tick off the list.11

We had news that FIL has suspected lung cancer, he goes for the tests next week, we’re reeling, spent a few hours chatting on and off online to MIL.
1 Sent an email to my brother, I am trying to keep in contact with him more.
2 Cooked up gammon, pineapple, poached egg and veg with a grilled tom it was very tastey.
3 Feeling a bit overwhelmed when thinking “too much”, so a hot cuppa, and waiting for a strudel to cook through to have with elmlea.
4 So many birds in the garden, and we have a lovely wag tail back, who seems to come and go.

mhagster we did! Now the proud owners of about 4.5 acres of lovely garden and the world's most hideous 70s carpeting! It still gives me immense joy looking out the back as I wash up!! I do miss some things about England though, like Wilko's and the prevalence of proper country pubs.

Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Painted (again) 3 walls of sons' room. Also painted the stairs walls and landing!
4) Went to get £20 of petrol for next week. The local garage was limited to £30 with no diesel.
5) Made chicken nuggets, wedges and baked beans for tea.

Worrying news re your FIL PK, sending hugs.
For yesterday,
A good lie-in followed by sausage sarnies for breakfast.
Spent an hour with my girlie in her paddock, needed to sort a few things out in my head and it gave me the space to do so.
Reproofed her lightweight rug after it had lost a lot of its water repellency, if it works I will also do my riding jacket which has gone the same way after too many washes.
Spent the afternoon with my beloved, he has finally finished with the auditors and can relax.
Evening walk with small dog then a glass of something cold and sparkly while I cooked a green Thai chicken curry.11 -
PK- hugs.
For Friday
1. Walk to post box to send letter to DS2. Warm and sunny.
2. Chat with someone about her gorgeous garden.
3. Saw my oestopath - feel so much better.
4. Went out for a meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary - 33 years.
5. DS1 gave us a lift there and back - queues at the petrol station causing traffic jams.
For Saturday.
1. Walk to the station. More gates have appeared in a field. The gates are rarely attached to a fence.
2. Met a friend for coffee. It was great to catch up.
3. Met DS1 on the train and went to The Cabbage Patch for a drink before watching a sell out rugby match which we won with a bonus point. DH joined us at the rugby.
4. Went to watch Harry Potter at the Royal Albert hall. It was booked about 2 years ago. It was very good and waved to DS2 and his friends who were sitting a few rows behind us.
5. At midnight on drive home there was a queue of about 30 card at a petrol station.11 -
Washing drying on the line - one of my favourite things M&M
For Friday
1) Long day of PhD students (3 supervisions) Two of them submitting 1st week October so rather all-consuming at the moment) - great to see them coming to this point
2) another bowl of hm mushroom and cashew nut soup for lunch
3) washing out and dried
4) a drink with 3 friends from life sciences, 2 now retired after work
5) then my local for a birthday drink with a friend and others - may have over-indulged on the wobbleade admiral
And for Saturday
1) Frasier is running again from the very first episode on ch4 - good start to the day for someone feeling a little fragile
2) went to Stirling with dd2 - she starts her TPG Monday and this was the campus tour. We got off Bridge of Allan and walked the 1.9 miles - such a pretty walk, such a pretty campus
3) we had very nice pizza on campus - proper pizza oven, £3.50 each - feeling more and more tempted to get my own pizza oven, especially as I'm now making all my own bread
4) I sat in the atrium working on my fellowship application - needs to be in asap and pleased to say i got it to 6989 words (needed to be under 7000 words, each section under 2000 words, in tables so fiddly to do the word count)
5) we caught the bus back to Stirling station (more trains), walked back home along the river, finished off the mushroom soup and watched first 2 episodes of the new series of All Creatures Great and SmallMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
