oo exciting - I'll be 60 in 2 years' time (well 2 years and 8 days) and my middle child, also a steam train fan, will be 30. While waiting for the Aberdeen Tornedo to go through I got chatting to another ferroequinophile who was planning on celebrating a significant wedding anniversary next year with a trip on the Tornedo. I'm thinking afternoon tea with the 3 children would be a fabulous birthday treat.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

well not surprisingly I'm a bit tired so going to report in now.
1) toast and marmite (last of Sunday's hm loaf yum) and a couple of mugs of tea - perfect start to the morning after the night before
2) met a friend for lunch at the DCA - haven't seen her for nearly 2 years (probs November 2019) - super duper
3) stayed and chatted to the last possible moment then lovely walk back home for 3pm meeting
4) then online drinks with the boss - just the one very weak G&T for me - and kedgeree for supper listening to the archers
5) and now settling down to the 2nd half of the prom from 13th August while i finish a few urgent emails then piano then walk the dogs then bed.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hello. Bedtime. At a sensible hour. As the alarm is set for a non sensible time.Slept in spare bed again last night as it was so comfy and slept very well.Up early and went for a nice big doggy walk. Then gave a 4th coat of paint and then papered one tiny wall in the downstairs loo. You’d think one tiny wall would be easy to do but not so much! Wonky slopey angles . Still a few bits and pieces to do but I’ve ‘dressed’ the room and it looks lovely. Rather chuffed with myself.
Nice chat with niece. Back to school up here today so GN was happy to set off this morning.Pottered around the garden. Cut back some plants and weeded and generally tidied up. Loads of bees a-buzzing.Chat to friend on phone this evening, caught up on each other’s news ( and moans and groans😆)
so really just a day for me which is what I really needed. ( more of the same soon please)11 -
Recent pleasures:
Walk at Abbey in next town and then lunch at pub a bit further out with friend - crab 🦀 baguette 😋
Builders finished at last in bathroom which is now a shower room (still trying to keep the glass looking good ☹️)
Went to collect a replacement blind for one cut to wrong size but it wasn’t ready but bought a picture instead which may help decide colours for the hall, stairs and landing or lounge, depending on where we put it, which are the next projects. Also ordered some curtain fabric samples.
Lunch out today with OH as an early celebration 🍾 of 19 years since our first date. Had 3 courses, not done that for a long time and a Pimms and a glass of wine 🍷. Used some Tesco vouchers to help towards cost , so quite MSE.
night all 💤10 -
Oh dear. The day started off well enough:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Housework and washing completed.
4) Smaller son's trip to Manchester United completely booked and paid for.
5) Popped to nearest town for charity shop - 3 books (2 for other people) plus a t shirt.
6) Jacket potatoes for tea.
Then appeared bigger son. He has been on holiday with his girlfriend for a week as his centre was shut due to his colleague having coronavirus. All good, tested every morning. Had a bit of a dry throat yesterday morning - negative. Hacking cough, ill and temperature today - positive. Unfortunately, he was in Whitby at the time so had a long, continuous drive home. He did stop off at the nearest proper test centre so will have more results tomorrow (though it is obvious what it is - and his smell and taste have gone!)
He had only had one vaccination so far. Smaller son was due his first on Monday... He's the one we wanted to ensure did not catch it (due to rubbish circulation and slight kidney problems after having sepsis).
Nothing can be done as the house is only 10 feet x 18 and they share a tiny room/one toilet etc. I've booked a Sainsburys order for tomorrow as no one will be able to go out for 10 days. Cancelled the football tickets for Saturday - the first time smaller son would have gone out with or indeed met a friend for 18 months. Will have to cancel his vaccination on Monday!8 -
Worrying stuff Frith, hope all is ok.
For yesterday,
Over to the stables and lunged the beautiful grey one, had to smile because there was a scary noise coming from the hedge which made her freeze then charge over to me as if to say protect me small human.
We both snaffled some blackberries on the way back to the field.
Into Uni city for a haircut, fed up with thickness and general unruliness so short please lovely hairdresser, pleased with the result.
As often at the moment the best part of the day is late afternoon and early evening, watered all the pots and topped up bird feeders. Think a wren may have made its home in the dried up old well as keep seeing it dart down there, love a wren.
Ambulance programme, emotional watch and hanky came in for a lot of use.

morning all.
oh dear Frith - not good
pleasures for yesterday
1. finished my book with some relief. i didn't particularly like it but it had just enough to want to see what happened (it was "A week in December by Sebastian Faulkes)
2. DS took me shopping so the fridge is full again for now
3. more marking - 4 left
4. found a job to apply for with my name on it - clearly i won't get it

Frith - hope no one becomes too ill.
For last couple of days
1. Work was ok on Wednesday and then my back went. People at work were very good and my line manager texted me in the evening to check how I was doing.
2. Yesterday I took painkillers and took it easy.
3. Had a slow walk to the post box. It was good to get out of the house and did make use of the seat someone has made from an old tree trunk.
4. Spoke to a neighbour who was out when I made it home.
5. Easy tea of quiche and salad.10
