Cranky, congratulations on new birth.
Got back yesterday evening. Am still shattered.
All good except Mum, paramedics, hospital on Wednesday. She hasn't been well, antibiotics from Doctor for water on lungs. They did thorough check at hospital as she was in A&E with severe pain in her left arm. She didn't look great either. They haven't discovered what's wrong but she is at home.
Everything else soul-lifting, except sorely missed Tiggy. She missed me too.
My brother and I keeping up chat.....we've always been close but closer still, now. I have told him (and I mean it) that he can come back anytime.
Wonderful beyond words, seeing my family. About 387 pleasures !
Back to my challenges......all good.
Toodle-pip for now

1 We lost a whole nights sleep last night to a mix of pain and worry over Humbug, we got up early and popped him in a cage so he couldn’t get at food and water, and then a few hours later we were at the vets, he’s ever such a gentle character, so he was cuddling and ambling around the car when the vet came out and we went through everything. She took him in for a through check and was amazed how wonderful he was letting her poke and prod in his mouth and check the cancer bumps. There isn’t anything that should be causing any pain with the teeth, he has a bit of plaque build up and has lost 2 teeth so we think it may have come out. As he’s not in pain it’s a case of don’t poke the bear, she made it very clear, she does not think he would even remotely survive the anaesthetic, as he’s a year into lymphoma, where even a 6 month steroid prescription was optimistic, and he’s another 6 months on from that. So he’s home being pampered and we are breathing a sigh of relief.
2 We had some chicken bits for lunch, and hm pizza was dinner, seems to be a Saturday tradition.
3 A property has caused a stir here, as it’s not what we had an eye on and I think we may have to knock it down, it all suddenly sounds like a lot of work, and more over money, but it’s the literal perfect location lots of tooing and froing but I think it’s a no – ish.
4 We watched the Royal funeral and we were moved.
5 Clearing progress is being made and it’s showing. This evening I tackled the bathroom cabinet of doom, everything gets chucked in there for use one day. Well much has been in there for over 10 years now, so ahem ops. A few bits can be used in the caravan, some has to be binned.

Up and in at work early.
Home and went a walk over the fields with doggy and DD1.
Had a bit of a snoozette. I’ve not been feeling 100% since I had my vaccine. Better than I was but not 100% but could be a combination of early morning starts!Went to the beach, picked up some takeaway curry and headed down. Found a fairly sheltered bit to eat at and enjoyed the view. Blooming freezing though but we had blankets and wooly hats!10 -
1. Text messages with a couple of friends.
2. Spent time in the garden - strawberry plants planted. Fruit cage has been moved and all completed with netting on.
3. DS1 and girlfriend were passing so popped into the garden for a quick chat. They seen very happy together.
4. Watched the funeral. It was very moving and I felt so sorry for the Queen sitting by herself.
5. Had a bonfire which I love.9 -
For yesterday,
Tried for a lie-in but the sun was shining and the day beckoned.
Leisurely breakfast then donned my gardening gloves and tackled the Forsythia, it had grown very tall and spindly so need a really good cut back. I had to leave some branches at the back which had got entangled in the honeysuckle next to it which I know has a least one active birds nest in it.
Stopped for lunch and listened to the early kick off in the footie, another win for Utd and we are now just 4 games away from promotion.
Back outside for more pottering, cleaned out and refilled water feature for bird bathing, tidied up herbs and watered all my pots as bone dry, we haven’t had any decent rain for weeks.
Decided on a cheeky takeaway as both tired so ordered a chinese, I had a couple of starters as find their main meals too much, very tasty and there may have been a glass of something sparkly too 😋9 -
Hello. Day one of big worky days done.In at 6.30am. Had a very quick doggy walk first thing.Busy enough. Got tips. In the jar.
Hot shower and jammies on.Nice welcome home.Looking forward to Call The Midwife & Line of Duty though whether I’m awake to see either is another matter!9 -
Pleasures for yesterday/today.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Pulled bathroom light cord and the whole switch broke beyond repair and was left stuck permanently on. Dismantled it (lovely live wires through the ceiling now for the 6 foot 3 teenager to avoid) but we haven't minded the candles lit in there each evening. New switch is on its way.
3) I did watch Philip Mountbatten's funeral and, by absolute chance, we had a cup of tea with Battenburg cake part way through. I thought the fewer guests and small choir made it quite moving, especially the piper.
4) Did hours of work in the garden. Since the big trees have been taken down next door, new plants have self seeded where it used to be too shady.
5) Both cats were around most of the day.
6) Had news that my old Geology teacher has been flown home from China safely. He had a stroke in January and was unable to leave or afford the nursing care he needed for the journey.
7) The hens were out all day and are starting to grow new feathers where they had moulted.
8) Roast for tea then roast rhubarb.
9) Watched Casualty.
Today
1) A lie in.
2) My major spring clean continues. After trying to clear my aunty's house. we all realise we must scythe through our possessions and paperwork. The piano is on Ebay. I can't play now due to arthritis in my neck/shoulders and it has been hard to list it but we live in a 2 up 2 down and it is huge. I bought it in 1999. I had saved up to do an MA, then got a job where they offered to pay for the course for me so (amongst other bills etc) I bought a piano. For those in the know, it's a piano from a school so has wide feet so it can't be knocked over. It retired from school life and went on to be the practice piano at Dudley Piano Competition. All oak, Herrburger Brookes, and someone will get a bargain.
The clear out of my aunty's broke the 3 of us (siblings) to the point my sister was rendered speechless after yet another morning with bin bags. She decided that a house clearance company will do it. She went round today to pick up a vase that my aunty's friend wanted and, as she opened the door to the garden, the whole frame pulled out of the house as it was so rotten. It was so bleak working there and not the house we remembered from our younger days. We did manage to sort out 25 bin bags of clothes for a charity door step collection, 20 bin liners of decades old paperwork and to sort a few hundred books. The less said about the state the district nurses left it in, the better. When smaller son had sepsis and the bedroom floor was awash with surgical waste and all the gubbins the ambulance crew used, they were meticulous in clearing up. We had several nasty surprises at my aunty's. Her funeral is on Thursday.
3) I went on the allotment for a while and had a fire.
4) Went to see my sister this afternoon and their new (to them) car.
and, in unlikely news 5) Today I got my Green Homes Grant voucher by email so, for the first time in my whole life, I will live in a house with central heating soon!
At the end of my garden;

Just after 4am - found myself listening(again)to the excellent 'A Small Town Murder', by Scott Cherry.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08h0rry
Radio is always quietly on in &squat.
Frith, good to see you back on mse after so much. Again, we see you dealing with everything, all hurtling in from different angles. Can you just take a tiny, SAFE pause for a minute or three....at least until the new switch comes?
Definite weight loss ⭐ and, fwiw, was so pleased to read the update about that teacher's safe homecoming and admission now to the Stroke Unit. & donated a while back.

1. Heard funeral service, while honouring another commitment. Since then, this - regardless of one's views on the monarchy. Apt, perfect - please listen, only 2m34secs:

2. 18 April is an overload date for &. For certain reasons, took this sunrise:
3. Headed early to Trumpy carboot to see M, hand over large bag left in error by another Spitalfields stallholder. Spits was dire for takings, along with a major Art Deco glass breakage. & rethink and def. Achilles tendon fix needed before resumption. So much Covid disregard - few masks, nil social distancing and non-compliance was a real shock. Really good chat with M yesterday, who also felt those things. Also more machinations pro-food dealers, against we 'originals', by new 'dark' overlords. More awareness and observance at M's long awaited outdoor carboot resumption than in London. Other Trumpy visit reason satisfied: 3 jumpers bought (moth munch replacements, much needed)@ 50p, 50p, £1. In gentle wash as we speak.
4. They'll go out on line, with last of rugby club teatowels. Large crateful's been through 3 loads of several multi boil bleach washes each - after & id'd and youtube fixed infill pipe blockage and filter pump. Felt slightly proud and much relieved. All spinning/draining/working perfectly now.
5. Took young transportless person in great pain+swollen face, to dentist 20 miles off, done safely, masked et al. Appointment for abscesses+wisdom teeth removal.....which sadly, unfortunately, didn't happen. Cough has to go first, so antibiotics prescription collected. Osp is in being able to do a small thing for someone whose life chances(hence some previous life choices) have not been great. Same young person is, & can say, patently honest, loves+cares for hopeless case abandoned animals, has talents, is dyslexic. Nurture, encourage, extend what's good+possible - it's key.

Frith - welcome back
A day out!
1. Went to Kew gardens. It was lovely walking round and some lovely trees and plants. There were a lot of people but everyone well spaced out.
2. Say on a bench for a while with DH watching people walk past.
3. Walked into Richmond and the town was busy but pleasure is we didn't need to go into the shops and avoided the very busy parts.
4. Met some old friends of DH. Not seen them for about 15 years. We had a lovely meal with them. It was great to catch up and see them. The meal was good despite a wait before we sat down but had a drink first.
5. Warm, sunny weather made the day.10 -
Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday....
Cut down confers have all been chopped up and bagged (by me, 17 black bags worth!) ready for the tip.
Mr next door has cut down the one bit of conifer that couldn't be reached from my garden (the tallest bit)
I made brownies and hobnobs, yum
I also made a roast dinner. The HT asked to try broccoli (and ate it).
Some game time and a chat with best frend. We see each other most days now but somehow still find thngs to talk about while we're online.
Take care all of youSSue we're still with you ❤
