Spring equinox northern hemisphere, autumn equinox southern.
Pleasures today,....
Waking up to a pleasant sunny day, knowing I could just potter around today.
Thrashing the computer at crib. My parents were crib and dominoes champions and they taught me well.
Roast beef etc for lunch.
Discovering I have lost 4lbs in weight and an inch off my waist in less than a week. I made the decision to reduce saturated fat in my diet because my cholesterol is raised. I am also going easy on the carbs, increasing my green veg intake and resisting picking at cakes, sweets, biscuits and chocolates, particularly at work. I have also switched to black coffee and herbal teas.
Being able to have windows open to freshen the air.One life - your life - live it!13 -
Condolences to Frith and Cranky, loved the ice cream 🍨 story 😊
OH and I watched series 5 of Line of Duty over the weekend so we would have some idea of what was going on in the new series starting tonight, sort of worked 😊
Sunny ☀️ morning so out in the garden, planted leek, tomato and Brussel seeds, brought them into the porch as I don’t have a greenhouse or anything, don’t know if it will work. Also repotted a few things and planted out my pots of tete a tete I had in the kitchen.
OH cut back the massive pyracantha and has scratches to prove it!
Chicken fajitas and homemade spicy potatoes for dinner.
sleep well everyone 😘11 -
I'm sorry to hear about your dad, Cranky.
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) A lie in.
2) Got house clean and tidy.
3) Hens OK.
4) Watched a football match on tv with smaller son.
5) Had wraps for tea.
6) Bigger son had a day out near Bristol (to meet up with a friend outside) but fortunately was long gone before the protests started! He has fallen over on his hip, which will be troublesome when he is working next week.14 -
A very early good morning from me and guess who actually doesn’t need to be awake quite as early today but body clock says otherwise! And also I crashed out really early last night so have actually had a decent stretch of sleep.Work was worked. Had a lot of catering to do yesterday then an okay shift as it wasn’t terribly busy. Good company which always helps.Tips. Meh but more than I had in my pocket at the start of the day!Had a lovely walk across the field at 6am, was still frosty and just me and the doggy and the birds but the joy at it being light so early! Yes!Then walked to work and it was lovely walking past lovely springy gardens filled with flowers. And DD2 kindly phoned me and said should you like picked up and I said yes please.Cranky take care and hold fast the good memories x
Sue love and strength being sent your way and I hope you’re still just keeping on at keeping on.Have a nice day everyone.14 -
Cranky - sorry to hear about your Dad but a lovely memory of the ice cream.
1. I feel more relaxed at home with our new neighbours. I don't feel as I'm being watched all the time.
2. Chat with other neighbour.
3. Seeing photos of my sister's puppy.
4. Time spent in the garden. Cleared a small portion of it and it looks much better.
5. Messaging with a friend.13 -
For yesterday,
A quiet, peaceful kind of day at home, it was the anniversary of my brother’s death so felt emotional all day.
Spent some time in the garden, weeding and clearing, saw a few bumblebees and heard a skylark above the field.
Came in and the roast chicken was more or less done, small dog had her share with some of her Mum’s meaty gravy.
Late afternoon walk, the days are really stretching out.
Too tired to concentrate on the new series of LOD so recorded it and watched Midsomer Murders instead.14 -
Condolences to Cranky and Frith x
The ice-cream purchase sounds eminently sensible - as you say it wasn't just icecream you bought, it was a memory you, your sister and HT will remember for ever and that, as a certain advertisement tells us, is priceless
Nargleblast Professional clean for equinox - that sounds a fabulous use for money too. We just had the cathedral and rectory cleaned and I think I'll ask our administrator for the company name
For yesterday
1) manged to review one chapter before online church (last one as, fingers crossed, our church reopens next weekend) - went to gbf's church cos he'd asked me to do responses
2) in the 'coffee chat' after I was able to extend the invitation to the cathedral till the first minister lifts the ban on crossing boundaries - gbf's church is just over the border in perth & kinross and quite a few of the congregation live in Dundee City (where indeed i reside) I was careful to emphasise we're not poaching
3) granny smith soup from my seasonal soup cook book for lunch (the name was after the colour, there were no apples in this one just spinach, courgette, carrot, cashew nuts and parsley, very yummy and 3 servings in the fridge for lunches)
4) then other student chapter reviewed before 3pm chat to friend on phone - setting the time definitely galanised me! and it was a lovely chat
5) add to that a couple of lovely dog walks, coffee in the garden with dd2, watching Leicester win (sorry any man u fans) at mum's, steak round for supper with dd2 and 2 episodes of Bloodlands before bed and it was a very good SundayMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Wow. This weather! Fabulous!
Remade my bird's wings yesterday so they are now ' mirrored' instead of identical. Does look better.
Chilli with cocoa was good. Couldn't taste it at all but made a rich gravy/sauce.
Went to Aldi. Lady in front at checkout spent £158.29. At Aldi! My bill was well under £40. Perhaps she has a big family. Or only shops once a quarter!
Been sitting in the garden with ice cream. Just because we can. And it's so warm.
Think I'll paint my nails!. Last time was Christmas Eve! Been planting herbs though so will have to give them a good scrub first.
Happy glorious 🌞 day everyone

Not much has happened this week, but those in the know should soon be even happier!
Usual things. Work from home as usual.
Clear out the cookie jar, but that took a while, as nonsense kept happening!
Kept in touch by reading the parish notices! Thanked the vergers where I could!
Nice to see the sun beaming in OoleThorpe!
