Wednesday pleasures
1. paid the milkman - odd pleasure I know but I dislike owing money 😉
2. Lots of sunshine, but still cold in the shade
3. Posted 4 parcels to France (filled in the customs forms at home) - total cost of contents was £25, cost of postage £43.45 but still cheap bearing in mind the distance being sent 🙂
4. Our fortnightly Vegetable Box has been delivered & there is NO Kale 🥳🥳 but there are avocados 👏🙂 & our 1st ever Jerusalem artichokes including a recipe 🙂
5. Dinner was the 2nd half of the Hm beef casserole with added peas & sweetcorn, mash & broccoli from freezer 😋
6. Enough casserole left as a starter for hm soup 🙂Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £299.00
Jan £5.00 Feb £12.74 Mch £23.26 Apr £32 May £43 Jun £50 July £62 Aug £71 Sep Oct Nov Dec Grand Total £12 -
1. Work ok - new person started who is senior to me, this will make me sound old, but is so young. She has very little life experience I think. When, or if, my working pattern returns to normal I won't be working with her.
2. Messaged a friend who had had a good day. She has been having a tough year.
3. DH had been given some cakes - these are always lovely and made by a patient of his in her 80's. These ones are beautifully decorated.
4. Moved money around and various saving pots are looking better.
5. Spoke with my neighbour. We all seen much happier since old one moved out. I think about him going and smile.12 -
Pleasures for Wednesday:
Met friend for walk at a favourite spot
She had to make a phone call so we sat on a bench after a while and after about 20 minutes we started walking again!
By which time the clouds had come over and we finished the walk in fairly heavy rain 🌧
Back home to more wet washing - towels this time!
OH had mentioned it was St Patrick’s Day and as I had some diced lamb I made an Irish ☘️ stew, complete with thyme and bay leaves from the garden and potatoes on the top - it was delicious 😋
Have a good Thursday everyone 😘10 -
For yesterday,
Went out to fill car up with petrol and picked a net of carrots up for girlie, they are smaller sweet ones which she will love.
Dropped them off at the yard and had a chat with the owner, the heavy rain came over and temperature dropped, my hands got so cold I struggled with straps and buckles. The pleasure was a warm cup of bovril when I got home.
After lunch the skies cleared and the sun came out so I went down to the nursery in the village to look at plants and pick up some more bird feed.
I marinated some fresh tuna chunks in lime juice, garlic and ginger and we had that for tea with some stir fry veg & Cauli rice, very tasty.
Also watched Bill Bailey, funny man.12 -
Morning all
Pleasures for yesterday
1. A clean kitchen - lockdown has involved far more cleaning than i'd like.
2. Woke very early (not a pleasure) but watched several "the Last Kingdom"s.
3. Wrapped DS's birthday pressies (22 today) - the 22 different chocolate bars in a basket looks very professional if i say so myself.
4. Yoga - was one of the tougher classes but i seem more able to cope with it these days
5. Started a new series with OH "Ozark" - not a police drama for once although it does have drugs, mafia and money laundering .😆 TBH i'm rather 'watched out' but while there remains little else to do I am happy to have found something a little different. It's also very beautifully located.
Have a good day all - hope BoP returns soon
I wanna be in the room where it happens13 -
mrssd I send my dd1 an occasional book (always one i've read so we can discuss). gbf said wouldn't it be cheaper just to order it for her online? yes but it just wouldn't be the same, added to which i always include some little extras (last time was Where the Crawdads sing with a pack of Cadbury's mini eggs and a pack of terry chocolate orange eggs)
Frith lordy lore keep in there gal
1) another glorious sunny day - after a dreary Jan and Feb I am again enjoying working at home so think this has a lot to do with the fast-approaching equinox
2) my mothering sunday flat pack flowers from dd1 are all now fully open and beautiful
3) I had some beetroot needed eating and a tub of past its use by date hummus - what to do? beetroot and hummus soup obviouslyone portion eaten, 4 portions in the freezer
4) going well on my 2021 challenge (20 * 21 things) - just had cheese #9 - neufchatel - on the last of the lemonade scones for breakfast - unlike 2020 which was planned pre-pandemic and abandoned this one has been very much designed around lockdown - note lots of reading, eating and drinking
5) finished evening with lent study which was lovely then first 4 episodes of After Life (courtesy of DD2's Netflix). Slept the best I've slept for a while

Good afternoon
DfV - someone working shifts can be difficult. When DH occasionally worked nights our children were small. I took them to the park frequently!
VJ'S mum - my auntie bought a house next to a cemetery. When a friend said she didn't like the idea of that, my auntie said, 'It's fine. The neighbours are very quiet!'
Visited bubble friend yesterday. As we speak on the phone every day there's not a lot to say, but nice to meet face to face. I can't stay long either because she has a cat ( I'm very allergic!) But it doesn't seem fair for her to come here every time.
Went with DH for a wander round the garden centre today. It was very busy by the time we left, but still very well behaved and distanced and I got the herb plants I wanted. Queue for the deli was very long so DH had to do without his sausage roll.
Happy Thursday everyone

Hello. Bedtime. Been up since 4am. What a beautiful day it’s been and a beautiful star filled sky tonight.Up & out early for work. Was a foggy drive to work. Don’t much like fog.Home. Niece phoned so chatted for an hour or so.Went to allotment. DD2 weeded. I mulched. Friends were passing so popped in.
Home and out to paint fence, back is done , half of visible side fence done. ( rest goes along side of extension so not as ‘urgent’ though will get done. ) was warm enough to be out in a vest top!)
Back to work for an hour to make our Easter offering! Lots of photos taken. I had the sandwiches for tea.
Popped in to mums on way home as she’d had a fall. Nothing broken but suspect she’ll be bruised tomorrow.Nice walk home. Stunning sunsetty sky.14 -
1 We went out for the first time since before Christmas, it was a bit weird. We were able to get eye tested and a new pair of glasses sorted for us each. My prescription has changed a lot it’s no surprise, I’m looking forward to being able to read properly again thou.
2 We shopped for some bits and bobs.
3 Takeaway pizza slice, I use the word loosely it was a big slice for tea.
4 B12 jab done and looking forward to it kicking in as it’s a little late due to the other jab.
5 I’ve just signed up to some of the OU free courses for a variety of courses from Icarus / science / mammals and galaxies.
