Suffolksue - thinking of you.
1. Work came and went.
2. Home and noticed next door had more packing boxes out. Hopefully they are going very soon. Though I pity their new neighbours.
3. Sausage and mash for tea.
4. Text messages with DS1
5. Quick chat with a neighbour11 -
For yesterday,
Tough start as heard from one of my closest friends that she had to have her beautiful mare pts the day before, so sad and for various reasons I am very worried for my friend.
Over to the yard and oh so many cuddles and muzzle kisses, luckily my girl likes the attention. She is shedding like mad so grey hair everywhere.
Washing dried on the line.
Lots of blossom appearing in the hedgerows.
Tasty tea of chicken on white bean mash.13 -
Morning all
Sad about your friend, Lainey. White bean mash sounds nice.
Twiddling my thumbs prior to my teaching session so pleasures for yesterday
1. Did some worky work - nothing too strenuous
2. Walked to the supermarket to get some bits for DS's birthday on Thursday and a few bits that we get from non-aldi supermarkets (oat milk, ketchup, crisps). 3.5 miles in all with my wally trolley! Came back through the castle grounds and the town.
3. Pasta and aubergine bake for tea
4. Zoom with friends - kind of hoping there'll be only one more until we see them again. But it's up to the Welsh so 🤷♂️
5. Being warm enough to sit in the conservatory again.
Have a great day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday....
The HT had a migraine but we put medication into him quickly enough to stop it from being really bad. The pleasure is the migraine medication being available after about 18 months when it was out of stock everywhere.
Went to my friend's house (bubble) to carry on cleaning. Her daughter had given her some posh cupcakes so we had one with our morning coffee. It's a treat to have a cake that I haven't had to make myself.
It was sunny so we went for a drive to look at some possible new houses. Another treat - being driven by someone else. We didn't stop anywhere or go into any shops (being careful) but it was such a lovely day it was just good to be out.
Work went well. Looked after person was in a good mood and I made pizza for his dinner which put him in an even better mood.
Online gaming and a chat with best friend (instead of Sunday night because Sunday was Mother's day so I spent the evening with the HT).
I hope BoP hasn't been silenced for too long....
Take care all of you12 -
Good afternoon
Sunshine and showers sort of day. Very April like, but in March.
Supermarket this morning. Sure everywhere is busier, inc traffic on the roads. Seems almost back to normal. Random things missing again. Cocoa, for example, except for the expensive stuff. Too dear for baking with!
My new needlework book has just arrived. Lots of lovely patterns for ornaments and soft toys.( And quilts but that requires too much accuracy for me!) Should keep me quiet for a while.
Saw the final Bloodlands. More questions than answers, even with disbelief suspended!. All set up for series 2 tho.
Sea bass for tea. A treat!
Happy mixed weather day everyone12 -
It’s been a beautiful day here. Just in from a lovely doggy walk with a lovely doggy and had to switch the timed heating off. Not needed just yet and bare arms may even have been spotted on the walk back! Sleeves rolled up! ( we Scots are hardy folks)
Was up early for work. Quick doggy walk then. Still dark but not pitch black at 5.30am and birds were singing.Home and right into tidy up. So much tidied than it was. Not that it ever gets too messy but just long days at work, tea then bed for three days meant no hoovering nor floor washing.Downstairs loo clean, my bathroom half done. Will do the rest later.Washings out and dried by lunchtime! A hearty breeze and a bit of gentle warmth. The other day I’d broken down an old garden bench I’d upcycled a couple of years ago but it really was on its last legs and I have a new table coming this weekend. So bagged up the wood for a friends fire pit this afternoon. Moved the bench ends ( cast iron, I’ve seen people selling these, is it to re-purpose or for their scrap value? ) to side of driveway wall. Did a bit of pruning. Nice to be outside.
Big walk with doggy who’s much better than he was thankfully. It’s just been the two of us today as DD2 sat work so it’s been nice and quiet. She’ll be in soon it won’t be so quiet.Sue as always kindest thoughts being sent your way.Goodness knows what Pirate Pete has been up to!14 -
Pleasures the past couple of days.
Sunshine, beautiful sunshine and light mornings. One morning there was a red streak in the sky. You know what they say, red sky in the morning, shepherd's house on fire...
Washing air dried on the line.
Two more bunches of daffs for the house.
Dog's annual check up and vaccination, all is well.
Getting things organised - the dog has a trip out with the dog walker booked for Saturday because my house is getting a full deep clean that day. Also agreed to start once a week dog walking sessions, to help her lose the extra couple of kilos she doesn't need. The dog walker takes her out to different places for longer sessions and it gives her some variety. She will still get the local walks in the park with me or my DS as well.
Online choir practice always a joy. Depending on Boris's roadmap, we might be back to proper rehearsals and performances in the summer.
Mothers Day gifts - from DS, a Tesco sunflowers kit. Seeds, compost, pretty bucket. I am growing sunflowers. From DD, a beautiful pair of handmade pillowcases in pink fabric printed all over with cats in various poses. One life - your life - live it!14 -
Lainey, So sad to read of your friends horse.
I’ve never heard of white bean mash before, it’s going to have to be tried. I’ve already managed to sneak in red lentil pasta.
1 I have been looking up what is wrong with our Hoya, it’s an inherited plant that is beautiful and flowers, it has his nans knitting needle in it to use as water measurements it always has been. However the plant itself is not happy so we have cut off all the dead bits, and created a new soil mix and replaced it all it was no mean feat and took a long time. I am now leaving it alone to recover and have everything crossed we have done everything we can to help it. We have worked out the plant itself is at least 80 years old, I really don’t want it leaving on my watch so we are really hoping. A pleasure to try.2 Dinner is turkey mince bolognaise and red lentil pasta, tastier than it sounds.
3 Cleaned out the animal bedding, and then hoovered whole house, then mopped up, the pleasure it’s done for a bit.
4 We watched hidden figures, and we were moved.
5 Strudel is cooking through as I type.

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Tidied up and cleaned the bathroom.
3) Hens OK.
4) Had a meeting at smaller son's college. There are no words left to describe that place. Suffice to say, I came out of the meeting and smaller son was standing on the grass verge in the car park and no member of staff had been able to persuade him to go back inside so they were just watching him through the windows. He has been there for 3 hours this week and says he will never return. At this moment, that seems the best solution. Every phone call and dealing with them totally does my head in, so I imagine it is worse for smaller son.
5) Watched GBBO and Holby City.12 -
