Good, good, good news. Email at 1.30am to say I am covid free. They must be working around the clock. Thank you NHS. So more tests needed. Hope it's nothing serious but if it is then I also hope that my Mum is right and that I'm 'as tough as old boots'. Charming.......
Must admit I was worried as I have been making soups for my lovely, lovely 90 year old neighbour. God forbid I should give her anything although I am so careful (raw chapped hands prove this) and I spray everything with Isopropanol Alcohol. But not the soup !
It was only today that she told me she has water on her lungs (isn't that pleurasy ?) because she forgot. We were chatting on the phone re some groceries I had dropped off and we both almost made each other cry voicing our appreciation for each other. Totally daft.
Fairness Alert : OH had been researching possible reasons for my high white cell and lymphocyte counts. He found exactly what my doctor said i.e. viral infection, something else, but also that stress can cause these things. So he apologised for all the stress he has caused me. I accepted with grace but then had to spoil the moment by apologising for some of my faults. Just don't know to leave well enough alone.
I am convinced that Tiggy has an eye ulcer again. Stupid vets (sorry but it's how I feel) have only got the piece of paper they shove in her eye, instead of traditional drops, to determine if she has an ulcer. It's a false economy as they missed the ulcer twice over a six week period last year. I had to go to the expense of a pet taxi just to take her to a vet that had the correct drops and it's part of the same group. Worse than that was the 30 minute drive there and back which she finds stressful. And we had to do it about 4 times.
Luckily I am fast becoming a 'prepper'. I have all of the over counter medicines allowed for dogs and I check regularly with my/the wonderful vet (again miles away) that they are still permissable. With the ulcer all you can give is pain medication and a eye drop that helps the eye heal itself. Last year I bought extra when I realised the vets were charging me £27.00 for 3ml and I could buy it on a reputable site for £10.00...........Ditto with pain medication approx 71 pence off internet co (including the vets fee for prescription) almost £2.00 PER TABLET from the vets. I know they should be rewarded for all their hard work to become vets. That operating costs are high. But they are making it extremely difficult for people like me (do not qualify for PDSA) to look after their pets. It is upsetting. Serious moan over.
Have to leave on a bright note. I love tea......and I have lots of it......tee-hee
have the best day

Hugs to all those that need them.
For past couple of days.
1. This thread for the support it gives to others and reading it is a positive experience.
2. Survived work. I am far less tolerant of others now. I was asked to make a phone consultation rather than seeing a patient - fine I can generally do that but a phone number makes it easier to do.
3. Leaving the hospital and the first breath of fresh air when you take a mask off and leave the hospital.
4. Wooden floor is looking good. When shops 're open we can look for curtains and other bits of furniture.
5. Texts with a couple of friends.
6. Long chat with DS1 on the phone.
7. Mussels for tea with a glass of wine.15 -
Ooh, I lurves mussels VL, must add to next weeks meal plan / shopping list 🤔
For yesterday,
A day of sunshine and showers, more April than Feb, but thankfully not cold.
Busy morning but the pleasure of a tidy house and clean bathrooms.
On a walk with small dog and met a smashing choccie lab called Gary, having spent the first 8 years of her life with one, small dog is always especially happy to see another and after checking it was ok we allowed the dogs to play together. Gary was a complete gentleman.
Poached some chicken in the slow cooker all afternoon and tea was chicken enchiladas with refried beans, yum.
Watched the celebrity home cook final, fluffy viewing but pleasant enough.16 -
VL.....I thank you (and all) for all the support and kind words given. It really does make a huge difference.
Sue......always thinking of you.
crushy warm hugs to all

1) The windows have been cleaned, our window cleaners have not been reliable in the past but this one came back exactly when he said he would 2 months later and I'm happy with the job he does.
2) Won two things for the granddaughter on e.bay.
3) I used a crepe pan to make pancakes last night, I'd forgotten buying it just before the pandemic started and it's been sat in a cupboard, found it again yesterday and thought I wonder? it's the easiest thing to use and we're having stuffed pancakes for dinner today.
4) Our daily walks, seeing everything come alive again as the days warm up and knowing spring will be here in the not too distant future.
5) Books to read, I've gone right through all the new books I got at the charity shop last time it was safe to go and am re-reading some old favourites again, love a good yarn.
Bala, we've missed having a dog so dreadfully since poor old Docky dog lost his fight against his facial cancer, when we were still in Hampshire we walked Cookie for the local pub landlords when we first lost Doc but having moved to a country village we thought we'd maybe like another canine pal BUT we've come to the conclusion that pets these days are treated as people but their meds are more expensive from the vet than from the pharmacy for us, in one case Glucosamine and Chondroitin which Hubs was taking was £3.50 for 90 tablets and the same dosage that the vet prescribed for Docky for arthritis was £69 for 60 tablets and we were shot down in flames for suggesting I buy the generic from the chemist for the dog because it wasn't a 'nutricutical' that had been tested on dogs. I also minded having to pay the £40 consultation fee every time we visited, even if it was for the same problem in a course of treatment...sadly we won't have another pet though we'd really love to have one.11 -
Gosh boazu
heart melts for you.
I am not popular for asking for the prescription so that I can buy elsewhere but it's the only way I can cope EVEN though Tiggy has insurance. My wonderful retired vet told me that she only needed the lepto-thingy jab every year. The other 2 in the booster jab every 3 years. I chose this because I don't want to overload her system. He administered, and charged me £18.00. The new vets for exactly the same jab the following year ? £52.00 !
I could spit but I am too polite. Where is the justification. Problem is, as long as I love my animals the way I do.....I am trapped. However, I do use 'human' stuff on Tiggy, as agreed with the lovely vet that is miles away. He really loves his job so is always researching. And he was mentored for 10 years by the vet that had the cheek to retire ! ( I think I might have mentioned that I am in love with him).
I have thought of a time when my Tiggy isn't with me.......hopefully not for years and years.... and thought of rescuing dogs in homes that are old and have conditions so that their last memories of us would be full of cuddles and love. But only if rescue center would continue the medical side, especially if needles are involved. Ever thought of suggesting that kind of symbiotic relationship. I would be happy to find the money for meds at cost.

Good afternoon
Hugs to all who need them. Think this constant lockdowness in varying degrees is not helping anyone to feel cheerful. And it's even worse when other things go wrong.
Rainy morning so cleaned windows inside. Then sun came out and window cleaner came. So windows are now dazzling!
Had a look at where we are with gas/electric bills. We changed provider last year using MSE comparison system. So far, very good. Have paid less per month and we're still in credit. Nobbut!
But on the winning side.
Lots of green shoots in the garden, though no flowers yet. Have seen snowdrops in other people's gardens, but they always seem to vanish in ours! As do anemones! Perhaps over enthusiastic digging. Not by me , of course.
Easy tea of sausage and mash. OH favourite.
Happy Thursday everyone14
