Good Morning OSPers,
& - Thank you for persevering. That sky photo is wonderful........I hope it wasn't a bank robbery that you witnessed! (We don't have that much excitement living in the centre of Birmingham 😱).
VJ - I hope you are enjoying Becoming. I bought it for £1 on holiday in India, and couldn't put it down. I finished it and left it in the library of our last hotel, as it is quite heavy! I needed space for gifts! .....I would like to read Mr Obama's memoir next, but I have 4 books queuing up and want to get the Thursday Murder Club too.
Saturday
1. Dog walk in the fog. So quiet.
2. Fish cakes and chilli sauce on a bed of leaves for lunch. (Posh).3. Chinese Fakeaway for dinner.
4. Watched Blithe Spirit. Loved it. Want to move into the house now 😍
5. Revamping the dog beds........there are 6. Greyhounds can't sit down, and we have hard floors, so there needs to be dog beds everywhere! Trying to make them less like piles of rumpled blankets 🤣🤣🤣 Unfortunately, greyhounds like their beds to look like piles of rumpled blankets. 🙄Have a lovely day 🙂In a world where you can be anything, be kind. We have more in common than that which divides us. (Jo Cox)15 -
Recent pleasures:
Friday: coloured my hair then as the sun was out walked to local beautiful park.
The grounds men were there and have done such a good job that I told them so😊 they seemed pleased 😀
Beautiful golden crocuses and tiny purple ones appearing, clumps of snowdrops and squirrels 🐿 scurrying around. Very water logged everywhere though.
No queue at the cafe takeaway so I had a bacon roll and a cuppa, what a treat!
Made James Martin’s Yorkshire puds and had with proper sausages a la toad in the hole. Gorgeous and enough batter to have Yorkies with our roast chicken last night. Bye bye Aunt Bessie’s 🤣🤣
Followed by tiramisu and 🍷 May have been consumed 😊. Diet well abandoned ☹️
Horrible wet and howly morning with snow threatened so I think I’ll stay in bed for a while reading on here and maybe my book 😊
Super Sunday all 😘15 -
Ah, good to see our & and Lainey didn’t know that you had been bitten by the deadly horse bug too.
For yesterday,
All 3 of us enjoyed a lie-in, well to 7.30 anyway, as you can imagine all wake ups are choreographed by small dog.
Watching the cricket and enjoyed boiled egg with marmite soldiers for breakfast.
Over to the yard in beloved’s car which is twice the size of mine and automatic to boot, narrowly missed by idiot going much too fast through puddles and he aquaplaned dangerously close, gulp. Groom, cuddles and then home, thought I would pick up diesel and visit emporium for a few bits, oh poo road closed ( A14 junction & ) so diverted up A11 while all the time distance to empty dropped lower & lower. Pleasure was we made it and all was well.
Tasty tea of meatballs stuffed with mozzarella along with some leftover macaroni cheese from the freezer, bit heavy on the cheese but very tasty.
Lovely email from online friend, lucky enough to meet a couple of years back and one of my favourite people, good catch up on news.15 -
For past couple of days
1. Long chat with DS2 about various things.
2. Good text conversation with DS1.
3. Drafted an email about Saturday working consultation at work. Will send it early next week after a re-read
4. picked some hellebores from the garden so they are looking pretty in a vase.
5. Long phone call with my parents.
6. Watching flocks of birds flying about.
7. Watched rugby - not all of it was pleasurable though!14 -
1) A really good nights sleep, took a hot water bottle with me and I don't think I moved the whole night through. I feel like me again today!
2) Got some chipolata sausages out of the freezer last night that had been intended for Christmas until.....and I shall make Toad in the Hole for our lunch today, we really like Toad in the Hole!
3) Lovely video of smallest grandpickle playing Peek a Boo from behind his own hands, we played it last evening with me hiding and peeking from behind my hands and apparently he instigated his own game this morning awwww...
4) Good friends online, people who have stayed in touch, have supported, shared and been kind and lovely and who I shall ever be grateful for, you know who you are, thank you all, you're the best!
5) Day 1 of vaccinated protection, I know we've time to wait until we can change anything in life, second vaccine will be given mid April for both of us and even then we'll have to be sensible but today fees a bit like getting a 'Get out of Jail free' card in Monopoly and holding it in the hand of cards for the future, I guess it's that strange thing called Hope!12 -
Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday.....
Work went well. The looked after person was here an extra 45 minutes due to a misunderstanding over who was collecting him so extra pay for not much effort.
The rain stopped for long enough for LAP and I to go for a walk. It looked like heavy rain over Wales across the Dee though.
The HT is fed up but at least we discussed it. Plans underway for a change of routine today.
My best friend (who is moving here in 2 weeks, yay) sent me a photo of a lot of snow outside their house. The pleasure is that we don't have any. Luckily I warned them to go food shopping yesterday morning when we chatted on Friday evening (and for once the warning was heeded).
The gallstone let me have a dfferent dinner last night - I've been having a lot of chicken and rice in small quantities. I had a jacket potato with beans, managed about three quarters of it and survived without any pain. There's still something wrong but I'll take that as a win for now. I'm dreading the next lot of blood tests because I have a feeling that they'll be as bad as the last ones so I'm working on small victories.
Take care all of you14 -
A cold and snowy day. For Friday
1) last interviews for next year's medical degree - over 1000 done, huge undertaking, well done to all involved
2) we have been recommended where possible to get out during the day by HR and take a good break from the screen. So I did. Posted book and love-hearts to DD1, called in at the community fridge and the butchers, bumped into a friend in Mr S so had a chat outside
3) then bumped into Dr No on the way back. Caught up on Leicester - he agrees Justin is earning his stripes
4) drinks with boss on teams after work
5) then zoom with friends
Saturday
1) slept well - may have been all that red wine
2) bubbly bath and finished my Montalbano - I think mum has half of our local library at home! So she is now my own library
3) Litter-pick - 106 items! combined with dog walk
4) Sardines for lunch - first time i have cooked from fresh, need a bit more practice with gutting but was pleased with the result
5) watched the rugby with DD2 (well done Scotland) then mum's for supper - steak round and i took her one of my lock-down gins which we tried - would have been rude not toMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

VJ's mum and House Elf - I enjoyed Thursday Murder Club. I thought it was a bit consciously clever at first but it soon settled down to become a good 'proper' story
Cranky - gallstones are the work of the devil. I'm so glad DH had his op last year.
Bala - are you ok? I know you keep bobbing in but I don't think I've seen a proper update for a while
Ampersand - phew! Success!
No snow here. And no rain either for a change.
Did a freezer inventory. Enough food to keep us going for a while, and not so many oddments as usual. That's because Monday is now dedicated leftovers day, so things do get used up.
Had a good email exchange with a friend in Spain. Our husbands have been friends since infant school, and we usually meet once a year. We're planning a holiday together ( all 4 of us) for asap. Realistically it will probably be at least 18 months away, but the planning is good fun and it's nice to have something to look forward to.
Happy chilly day everyone14 -

Hello. From the land that is blooming freezing! We’ve had little flurries on and off all day but not came to much. Just an icy wind.

I go in early the other mornings to get the kitchen to myself.I had an excellent day at work. Everything went as it should, company was good and music was good...80s and 90s so much singing from all of us.Bought a beautiful posy of spring flowers that were RTC in supermarket. Oh....and a RTC almond croissant that was my tea!Dropped stuff off at boss on way home and had a good chatter with her.Oh my poor doggy...he’s been waiting by front door for me coming home. Hasn’t left my side since. He has DD2 for company when I’m at work but misses his mummy ( who also misses him)
Hot shower and jammies on! Going to watch Casualty then bed I think. More of the same tomorrow! ( and pffft to catering every morning and shudders at the thought of next weekend ( Valentines)
