1. Work was much better as at a different location. I felt much calmer.
2. Free lunch at work. Always good. I enjoy the yoghurt that they give probably as I don't buy yoghurt to have at home.
3. Messaging a friend. It's good to keep in touch.
4. Arrived home in the light - sort of.
5. Enjoyed a glass of wine.11 -
Good morning all,
Pleasures for yesterday....
I managed a whole day without painkillers. The gallstone is still there, maybe it just hated me a little less yesterday
The cake tin was empty so I made brownies (not for me, I'm not allowed but they're the HT's favourite).
Some more knitting....possibly the last hat of the winter.
Planning some bedroom renovation and moves (possibly a bedroom swap) with the HT for the summer holidays. Some of the furniture moving was beyond me but now that I have two teenagers at my disposal it can probably be done.
The HT had his third and final college interview and also his third acceptance. He won't be taking this one as his maths grade won't be high enough for him to do the course that he wants (dyscalculia) and the other two places have given him his preferred course. He's still managed the recommended three choices that school want him to have so all good.
Frith I have had a running battle about the HT's maths since year 4. He's now year 11. Your battle for education for young Mr Frith has been so much harder...Saying well done for sticking it out sounds patronising but please take the comment in the spirit that it's meant.
More hugs for SSue.
Take care all of you14 -
1) Really nice walk this morning in the sunshine, got warm enough to peel hat, scarf and gloves and open up my coat.
2) 2 dippy eggs with toast soldiers for lunch.
3) Have my vaccination early tomorrow morning.
4) Pictures of the grandchildren to brighten the day.
5) Walked past a lovely roadside verge with primroses, crocuses, celandines, snowdrops and aconites dotted across in clumps, signs of spring along with daffodils with turned down heads beginning to open their petals in front gardens very cheering after the cold grey dampness we've had for months.12 -
Bala - thanks but not my birthday.
BoP is rudely suggesting that i only bathe when it's my birthday
Also, i forgot to add a pleasure for Tuesday which is that we have a new baby in the family!! Great niece born on what would have been my nan's birthday (though on different sides of the family) - therefore she isn't, but should have been, called Dorothy...
I wanna be in the room where it happens17 -
Welcome to great niece Not Dorothy!
Pleasures so far today.....
Early morning walk with dog, prior to sunrise. Quiet, cool, light rain, nobody around. Oops, spoke too soon - she met up with boy of same breed, called Loki, and they had a good old run around whilst us humans chatted.
Back in the house on sunrise (not that I could see it, sky grey-white in colour) and took herbal tea back to bed with me.
General clean and tidy up with music from Spotify on in the background.
Baby yellow crocuses now clearly visible in the back garden,
Online choir practice, music is so good for the soul.
Hot chocolate with posh choccy biccies.
New sourdough loaf started, the starter is raring to go. I call it The Beast.
Game of Mah Jong in the computer, quite relaxing. You just have to tune out the plinky plonk background music.
Looking forward to Online choir party tonight, got the vino ready and am polishing up my vocal chords. One life - your life - live it!15 -
Good Afternoon All,
Been missing you.....Recents
1. I had a job interview.......didn't get the job. This is the pleasure, as I didn't really want the job. (DH was very keen for me to get it though!).
2. I made 3 small jars of chilli jam. We have not been able to find any in the local shops, so I had a go. The jars look very pretty, and the jam is very tasty 🙂
3. We finished watching Marcella........nonsense on stilts! 🙄4. Enjoyed Your Garden Made Perfect.......I like Joel.5. Making headway with my 'tidy a drawer, cupboard or shelf per day in February', but a bit behind already 🤣
I need to read back. ❤️ Hugs to all just in case....
Have a lovely evening 🙂In a world where you can be anything, be kind. (Caroline Flack)
We have more in common than that which divides us. (Jo Cox)15 -
Another day in quietsville.
Up early for work.
Managed to get a dry walk first thing. Had to be out at 5.30am for this to occur! Has been a day most foul.
work done.
came home and went back to bed.Round to mums. Did stuff there including being in a phone queue for 35 minutes...later had a text from company asking ‘how was your call today?’ Pffft!
Big biting cold wild and windy and very wet walk with dog and DD2...he moaned less than she did.12 -
snorts at vjsmum thought of birthday only bath
and I loved it's a sin. although we all use nicknames here, shout out for my lovely lovely friend Mark Crowther who was taken with AIDS far too soon - with very happy memories of his 21st at Heaven.
1) the last interview for next year's medical school intake
2) walked down to community fridge at lunch break (we are now encouraged to take 2 hours and get out in the light hooray) - rolls, jam tarts and broccoli crisps
3) met friend at the butchers (i got a pound of snorkers and a steak round, yum)
4) then met Dr No (sigh) he looks a wee bit dishevelled - unshaved and hair showing signs of lack of barber. we had a great chat about the football. I have been following Leicester (his team) cos Justin (ex hatter) is now there. he said before xmas that justin was slow (noooo) but he said today he has warmed to Justin(though think hatters could do with him back!)
5) drinks with da boss at 5 and now learning about Chinese New Year with GWSE (Graduate Women Scotland East)
can't believe the week has gone so quickly. will be working on a paper tomorrow and still have a key note to write before Tuesday but it's been a good week. and of course meeting Dr No always a highlight
