Have a good and safe Monday everyone 😊15 -
Aw, lovely picture PH xFor yesterday,
Waking up early, house cold but the warm, weight of the blankets felt very cosy. Then the creaking of the floorboards as the heating starts up, oh good. Then the gentle, but insistent whining of small dog, Mum, I need a wee! Oh well, up I get.
Bacon butties for breakfast and, yes you’ve guessed it, catching up on all things Ambridge.
Took small dog for shortish walk, she made the most of being off the lead for the first time in a few days.
Roast chicken lunch and then we watched a film, A Walk in the Woods, based on the Bill Bryson book, enjoyable and stunning scenery.
Keeping the bird feeders topped up, we had snow on and off all day although very little settled.14 -
@Nargleblast agree on Nigella. I love her. I had a friend at Uni whose family live next door to her off Sloane Square, or at least did in those days when she was with horrid Saatchi. I was soooo jealous and always hoping for a glimpse when I visited, but no luck.
Weekend pleasures:- Waking up to a snowy Belfast on Sunday, despite being told it doesn't snow here. Could see snowy mountains in the distance and children playing in the cul de sac. Baby loved watching it fall out the window. He isn't walking yet so we stayed in
- Yellow stickered bargains - a few bits (I've been in NI 6 months and just wrote 'a few wee bits' first...ha!) including vegan kievs, hot cross buns, salad and stir fry. Most eaten, the rest frozen.
- Looks like I'll manage to stay within my monthly grocery budget for the first time in months, woohoo!
- Watching Pretty Woman as a family. Even DH enjoyed it a lot. Especially the scene where she returns to the snooty sales assistants. I've stayed at the Beverly Wilshire (albeit not in the penthouse suite!) and watching it reminded me of another, less frugal, era of my life. We've now pledged never to fly long haul for environmental reasons so even if it was in the budget I won't ever see that bit of the world again. Happy with our lot, though.
- Signed up to be an Olio Food Hero and looking forward to that.

Then her pedastool was taken away! Cannot say I saw her inn the comsit thing, just like the young ones were not on BoP's list! Butt she came across as a victim that happens, so i suggest the parish watch. She wents ons about a stand up tour, but stars these days do not go back too routes! Remember after the Falklands bee inn London on a project, the NAAFI used to get the big stars inn who garnered back too the roots! mehefin said:Bala.had chuckle at your dog stories. Now with a labrador there is never a problem lol
Did make me think of the mares who seem to be able to sift the various grasses and chuck out the ones that they don't like
Do you have horses ?
When I was a little girl, about 11 or 12, we visited a farm/smallholding that my parents were considering buying. We even named it using our initials. I dreamed of horses and dogs constantly. Why I didn't pursue that dream as an adult flumoxes me. I don't remember who said this but it is true, 'know thyself' is so valuable. I will hopefully get to teach this to the little ones in the family. I will encourage them to follow their dreams, showing them the paths and work that it will take to get there. I believe you are happiest when you do that.
Sorry, have been off on a tangent again.........
Hope you are well

Good afternoon
A lovely sunny day here. Very frosty first thing but soon melted away, and no snow.
We went to local garden centre this morning for a walk in their show gardens. Ground was frozen instead of muddy which made walking easier. Was very good to be in the fresh air for a while.
I went to DD this afty so that she could have a little walk outside. She's trying to go a little further each day but her partner had to go into the office today, and she really shouldn't be out walking on her own just yet. It was a very little walk, but she was pleased she'd managed it.
I took her some flapjack and brownies from the garden centre deli. She gave me some very brown bananas to make a banana cake with! I've frozen them for now.
Happy teatime everyone

VL,
I've never seen a woodpecker in real life. Lucky you. Also meant to say congratulations on getting to the end of your decorating.

Hello all, pleasures for yesterday...
Pyjama day. I gave myself a day off.
Sitting in the warm with the HT watching youtube videos
Watching the snow from indoors and not having to go out in it
Online gaming with the HT
I felt a bit rough as the day went on. The pleasure is that the HT looked after me and made his own dinner (nothing exotic but he did it).
Take care all of you12 -
Hello.Well big workety work days are done. A couple of early morning hours to do for catering which all helps ( I’ve a vet bill I want to try and claw back in to savings). Was in early today but just worked on a half hour after shift ended catching up on paperwork and new orders. So the first walk of the day I nearly landed on my bum just stepping out the porch! The driveway was like an ice rink. Anyway we managed to get as far as we needed till the dog did what was needed then back. Then I had to walk to work ( very carefully) a star filled sky above me.Kept busy through the day at work. But the most meagre tips ever! However in the jars!Walked home. Back aching and hips seized . Dropped off some leftover scones at a friends house. Doorstep delivery. Slipped aaaaargh but managed somehow to stay upright! It’s like a blooming ice rink. Snow melting away but leaving the ice behind. But I walked home and it was still daylight. And I saw all the rooks coming home and the most stunning sunset.DD2 has ordered takeaway. No Haggis neeps and tatties for us!14
